Philippine culture, artworks take centerstage at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan
According to Katrina Son's report in "24 Oras" Friday, among the artworks that were featured include handwoven pieces with multimedia projections that seemingly transport viewers to the different regions of the Philippines.
"These are all made of abaca, so the artists weaved abaca to be the canvas for the art piece and then we printed our art piece on it," Philippine Pavilion creative director Chochay Garcia said of a woven artwork.
"And then as you can see, there are strips here. They've been cut into strips and then reweaved together, inserting different materials that are endemic to the Philippines," she added.
Many attendees admired the handwoven pieces at the Philippine Pavilion, including OPM icon Jose Mari Chan and European Union Ambassador to the Philippines Massimo Santoro.
"We've been showing our Japanese friends the island where we were born in Iloilo. Today, this is the first pavilion that we came to, I wanted our Japanese guests to appreciate our pavilion, " said Jose Mari Chan.
Meanwhile, Filipino Romer Arguelles, who visited the pavilion with his family from Dubai, was recognized as the 300,000th visitor.
"Very surprising. Nakakataba ng puso na nagkaroon pa ng ganito na pang 300,000. Dapat kung bibisita ka lang din sa expo, dito ka dapat una pumunta. Be proud of your country," said Romer.
Attendees also took part in the Philippine cultural dances performed at the expo, while others tried traditional hilot massage.
Philippine cuisine also shone at the pavilion through Hain, where halo-halo, adobo, and okoy were served to the attendees.
According to the report, cultural performances will be held at the Philippine Pavilion on Saturday, June 7, for Philippine National Day.

Emre warns Amihan, Ybrahim about escaping Devas
Amihan (Kylie Padilla) and Ybrahim (Ruru Madrid) dared to defy Emre in a desperate attempt to return to Encantadia and help fight the darkness brought by Mitena (Rhian Ramos). On Tuesday's episode, the couple was shown embracing Lira (Mikee Quintos) and Mira (Kate Valdez) upon their arrival in Devas. Amihan tearfully apologized for not being able to protect them, highlighting the growing feeling of helplessness among the former leaders. Despite their sorrow, Amihan and Ybrahim pressed on and asked Emre to allow them to return to Encantadia to face Mitena. But Emre stood firm and said, "Hindi lahat ng sugat ay dapat agad lapatan ng lunas." Frustrated, Amihan made her intentions clear. "Kung hindi n'yo kami papayagan, mahal na Emre, kusa na lamang kaming aalis. Hindi n'yo kami maaaring pigilan sa pagtulong namin sa aming nasasakupan," she said. But just as they prepared to leave, an earthquake struck Devas. From the cracks emerged terrifying smoke-like beasts, ruthless creatures under Emre's command. "Kung lilisanin ninyo ang Devas nang hindi ko pinahihintulutan, hahabulin kayo at dadakpin ng mga halimaw na 'yan at doon sa Balaak (hell) nila kayo dadalhin," Emre warned. Gaiea (Cassy Lavarias), unseen, witnessed the confrontation and Emre's chilling threat. Later, Lira urged her parents not to defy Emre, fearing they'd be separated again. But Amihan, now more determined than ever, likened Devas to a prison and vowed to reclaim her bugna (destiny) just to save Encantadia even if it meant breaking divine law. "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre" airs on GMA Network from Mondays to Fridays at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras." Jak Roberto on Barbie Forteza, Jameson Blake's growing closeness: 'Bagay'
Jak Roberto showed nothing but support for the blossoming closeness between Barbie Forteza and Jameson Blake. According to Nelson Canlas' report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, Jak and Jameson became friends during an appearance on "It's Showtime." When asked about Barbie and Jameson's sweetness, Jak said, "Bagay. Bagay. Tsaka it's about time." Jak also revealed that he and Jameson have already talked about the actress. "Sabi ko kay Jameson, kung ready ka na—kasi may mga deep talks kami ni Jameson—sabi ko sa kaniya, mabait si Barbie. Alagaan mo lang," he said. In July, it can be recalled that the Kapuso Primetime Princess clarified that she and Jameson are just friends. Meanwhile, Jameson had "no comment" on their real score. "I would just say na we're just enjoying each other's company. She's a really good person and, ayun, we have common interests," he said. The two were spotted holding hands at the GMA Gala 2025. In January, Barbie announced that she and Jak had already broken up after seven years together. —Carby Rose Basina/MGP, GMA Integrated News
