#SHOWBIZ: HK actress Jacqueline Wong reflects on cheating scandal, career comeback

HONG KONG: Actress Jacqueline Wong's career faced a significant setback in 2019 when she was embroiled in a cheating scandal with singer Andy Hui, who was, at the time, married to Cantopop icon Sammi Cheng.
The repercussions were immediate and severe: her former agency, TVB, suspended her projects and re-shot her scenes in the 2020 drama Forensic Heroes IV, as reported by Dimsum Daily.
After a four-year hiatus from the entertainment scene, Wong, now 36, made her return in 2023, stepping into the music industry as a singer with her debut single, "Crown Me."
More recently, she released her self-composed song, "The Beauty Of Seeing Through The World," a track in which she candidly addresses the emotional fallout of the scandal.
In a recent interview with Hong Kong media, Wong revealed that it took her years to fully process the incident and channel those intricate emotions into her music.
Despite six years having passed, she confessed that the experience remains indelible.
"I'll never forget it. This incident has already become part of my life experience. It really happened, so there's no need to run from it or fear people bringing it up," she said.
"That's just life. If you make a mistake, you have to take responsibility. I've accepted that it's part of my past."
Meanwhile, Andy Hui, 57, is reportedly planning a reunion concert with his band Big Four in August.
When asked if she had any interest in attending, Wong politely declined, stating she preferred to offer her support from a distance.
"Everyone is working hard to move forward in life, and I wish Andy and his band members well," she said.
Wong also took the opportunity to express her gratitude for her husband, drummer Lai Man Wang, whom she credits as a constant source of encouragement during her challenging times.
The couple tied the knot on 27 October 2023.
"He's my spring, summer, autumn and winter," she said.

#SHOWBIZ: HK star Linda Chung recounts painful childbirth experience

HONG KONG: Canadian actress Linda Chung has been happily married to chiropractor Jeremy Leung since 2015, and they have three children together: Kelly, eight, Jared, six, and Anika, two. In a recent interview on Hong Kong actress Carol Cheng's online programme, Chung shared that getting married and having a family had been her dream since she was young. "After entering the entertainment industry, that dream kept getting pushed back," the 41-year-old said. "At one point, I even thought I might never get married." Chung, who is based in Hong Kong, also spoke about her first pregnancy, revealing that the biggest struggle was dealing with the hormonal changes in her body. "Although I looked slim, some parts of my body became swollen and painful," the former TVB star said. The actress then explained why she chose a natural birth over a caesarean section. "I wanted to experience what my mum went through when she gave birth to me," she said. Chung revealed that the recovery was gruelling as she had torn badly. "I struggled to walk afterwards," she added. Still, enduring the physical pain made her realise just how strong she was. For her second and third children, Chung took an even bolder step, opting for home births. Inspired by other parents, she thoroughly researched the process and adjusted her diet to prepare. Her efforts paid off, as she said: "No stitches were needed then. I could walk right away, and the wound healed well."

#SHOWBIZ: HK singer Andy Hui celebrates birthday with wife Sammi Cheng

HONG KONG: Singer Andy Hui has wrapped up his three-day 'Big Four Happy To See You All' concert series at the Hong Kong Coliseum. After the finale on Aug 11, his boy band Big Four—which also includes Dicky Cheung, William So, and Edmond Leung—announced they weren't ready to stop, revealing plans for a year-end tour. During the concert's final night, fans surprised Hui with an early birthday celebration. This left him visibly moved and momentarily speechless with joy. The celebrations continued the next day when Hui turned 58. His wife, popular artiste Sammi Cheng, hosted an intimate birthday dinner at a restaurant, with the other Big Four members and close friends in attendance. A video shared on Xiaohongshu shows Hui beaming with joy as he and Cheng, 52, held a birthday cake together, surrounded by loved ones singing 'Happy Birthday'. After the song ended, the couple, who married in 2013, shared a tender gaze before blowing out the candles together. Netizens have since flooded the comments with birthday wishes for Hui, with many also gushing over the couple's sweet interaction. Fans have noted that Hui and Cheng appear to have fully reconciled after their 2019 estrangement, which was caused by his affair with actress Jacqueline Wong. The scandal broke after Hui was caught on video kissing Wong in a taxi.
