'Smelly cats' in rubbish dump named after TV's Friends
The litter, three males and three females, were given the names of the characters from the sitcom Friends - Joey, Ross, Chandler, Phoebe, Monica and Rachel.
Borders Pet Rescue nursed the four-week-old kittens back to health after they were rescued from Eyemouth Recycling Centre.
Centre manager Kim McNeill said the "strong bond and the laughter they brought to us" inspired the names and they had now all found "wonderful homes".
Kim said a member of the public contacted them after finding the kittens at the recycling centre in a "heartbreaking scene" on 27 May.
She said: "All were suffering from severe malnutrition, flea and worm infestations, and painful eye infections.
"They were frightened, weak, and understandably wary of human contact."
She said their vet team provided medical treatment for their eyes and the parasites.
Kim added: "These kittens needed more than medicine - they needed time, patience, and love.
"Fortunately, one of our amazing foster carers stepped in and gave the kittens a safe, nurturing environment where they could begin to trust again.
"Over several weeks, they slowly gained confidence, learned how to play, and experienced the warmth of a home for the first time."
After about a month in foster care they were "healthy and full of personality" and Borders Pet Rescue began to look for their "forever homes".
"Inspired by their strong bond and the laughter they brought to us, we named them after characters from Friends - three girls and three boys," Kim said.
In the 90s comedy, guitar-playing character Phoebe famously sang a song 'Smelly Cat' about a neglected pet.
Kim said their Kitten Friends had "captured hearts" on social media, allowing them to raise thousands of pounds for their veterinary care and spread the word about their search for owners.
"We're delighted to share that all six kittens have now been adopted into wonderful homes, each beginning a new chapter filled with love and joy," she said.

On Saturday, July 19, the musician, 59, attended her brothers Jackie and Marlon Jackson's performance at the Heritage Live festivals in Reading. Videos shared on Janet's Instagram Stories and photos taken at the festival show her watching from the wings with her rarely seen 8-year-old son, Eissa. During their performance, Jackie, 74, and Marlon, 68, also brought Janet out onstage for a quick guest appearance. The "Together Again" singer wore a green jacket and flared jeans, and styled her in a tight bun. Following the concert, Janet posted a series of clips of the concert filmed from backstage. In one video, the proud sister shared just how excited she was to see her older brothers perform. "Words can't express how much your nephew and I enjoyed tonite," Janet wrote. "It was so good seeing both of you as usual." "God bless you on your journey," she added. "We love you so much." In a post shared by the British music festival's official Instagram account, Janet could be seen grinning as she stood onstage alongside her brothers. "What a privilege it was to have a very rare appearance by @JanetJackson when she joined her brothers on stage last night at the @EnglefieldEstate and what a performance @TheJacksons gave us!" the caption read. "A real treat!" The iconic Jackson family tree also includes siblings Rebbie, 75, Jackie, Jermaine, 70, La Toya, 69, Marlon, Brandon (who died after birth in 1957), Randy, 62, and the late Michael and Tito. Members of the Jackson family gathered on Nov. 4 to mourn Tito, who died at age 70 on Sept. 15, 2024. Michael's children, Paris and Bigi (formerly known as Blanket), were in attendance at their uncle's memorial, according to photos obtained by PEOPLE at the time. La Toya and Marlon, along with Jermaine's children, Jaafar Jackson and Jermajesty Jackson, were also present, per the Daily Mail. The memorial was held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles. Janet also recently celebrated her sisters La Toya and Rebbie on their birthday by sharing a sweet childhood photo of the trio. "I miss you both tremendously and love you incredibly!!!! Have an amazing special day!!! 😘😘😘 your little sister 🥰," Janet captioned the May 29 Instagram post. Photographs and fan videos shared on social media showed Janet smiling as she and Maxwell, 52, walked hand-in-hand into the Playhouse Theatre to catch the 1,500th performance of Cabaret — though Janet later confirmed to PEOPLE that she and the musician are "just two friends." The "Nasty" artist is set to wrap her current concert residency at Resorts World Las Vegas in September. Read the original article on People

Ellen DeGeneres blames Trump for her US exodus
Ellen DeGeneres left the United States last year following Donald Trump's successful bid to return to the White House during the 2024 presidential election. DeGeneres, 67, and wife Portia de Rossi sold their Montecito estate in August and purchased a farmhouse in the U.K. The move was initially slated as a part-time adventure where the couple could enjoy a few months of the year across the pond, but the comedian made things more permanent after Trump won the November elections. "We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, 'He got in'," she told broadcaster Richard Bacon during her first U.K. appearance since moving, per the BBC. "And we're like, 'We're staying here.'" She's remained relatively private about her new life in the English countryside, but keeps fans updated about farm living on social media. "It's absolutely beautiful," she said. "We're just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture – everything you see is charming and it's just a simpler way of life. It's clean. Everything here is just better – the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here." The former talk show host added, "We moved here in November, which was not the ideal time, but I saw snow for the first time in my life. We love it here. Portia flew her horses here, and I have chickens, and we had sheep for about two weeks." DeGeneres recently threw her support toward fellow comedian, Rosie O'Donnell, who also fled the United States following Trump's election. One day after the president threatened to revoke O'Donnell's U.S. citizenship following her move to Ireland earlier this year, DeGeneres gave Rosie a public shout out. "Good for you," DeGeneres wrote atop a reposed image of Trump's threat and O'Donnell's lengthy response on Instagram. Trump referred to O'Donnell as a "threat to humanity," and wrote that Rosie's "best interests" were not for the United States. "I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship," Trump wrote in a post to his social media platform Truth Social. "She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!" he added. O'Donnell quickly responded to Trump's jab in several posts that she shared on her social media pages. The "A League of Their Own" star posted a collage of photos centered around a screenshot of Trump's post on Instagram and blasted the politician in the caption. "The president of the USA has always hated the fact that i see him for who he is - a criminal con man sexual abusing liar out to harm our nation to serve himself," she wrote. "This is why i moved to Ireland - he is a dangerous old soulless man with dementia who lacks empathy compassion and basic humanity." Earlier this year, O'Donnell admitted she was "shocked" to hear why Ellen left the U.S. "I've never really known Ellen to say anything political in her life, so I was surprised to read that she left because of President Trump. Like, that shocked me, actually," O'Donnell told Us Weekly earlier this year. "I've been a political person my whole life, not better or worse, it's just a different way to be in the world. "I was very clear about the reason why I was leaving, and I don't think it came as a surprise to anyone. We're not really in each other's worlds, and it's been kind of awkward but you know what? I wish her the best. I wish that she has peace and love in her life and that she is OK." While their relationship isn't strong, O'Donnell insisted she harbors no ill will for the comedian. "I don't want to fight against another gay woman. It's not like we're tenaciously opposed to each other," O'Donnell said. "We're just very different people. We have had some stuff in the past that we never resolved. And not in any way as, as partners or lovers or anything like that, just as friends and comedians, but I wish her the best. I seriously do."

Robbie Williams shares concerning news about parents' health
Robbie Williams has shared an update on his parents' health, saying it is "precarious". The former Take That singer is currently in the middle of his UK tour. Sharing an update on his own health, Williams reported: "Well, I've been ill with some sort of virus for a couple of weeks, which is making me feel very weak. It's par for the course on tours. Everyone gets something." He then shared: "Things at home with my parents? Very precarious right now. It's real-world stuff that deeply affects me and my wife. And if my wife is affected, you can bet I am. So the maths are: Virus + ill parents + stadium tour." Williams previously announced that his mother, Janet, had been diagnosed with dementia in November 2024. Earlier this week, the Angels singer told The Sun: "My mother has dementia and she doesn't know who I am anymore. She doesn't know where she is anymore." He also revealed his father, Pete, has Parkinson's disease and struggles to be as social as he once was. "He used to sing with me every night on stage, he would come out, steal the show and be charming and then wander backstage for a glass of red wine. Now he can't leave the house."
