The president posed for a photo op with the participating teams, before watching a hologram presentation and documentary film on equestrianism, according to Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed El-Shennawy.
The ceremony also featured a theatrical performance including a drone demo, and a musical performance.
The president listened to speeches delivered by the director of the Egyptian Military Academy and the president of the International Military Sports Council (IMSC), who granted the Egyptian leader the council's honorary membership and conferred on him IMSC Order of Merit, the highest such award given to heads of state.
During the ceremony, the Kayan Equestrian Club was declared an international training hub.
At the end of the ceremony, Sisi declared the tournament officially open.
Military showjumping riders representing Egypt, Bahrain Brazil, Ecuador, Estonia France, Hungary, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey and the UAE are competing at the global event. (MENA)

Mohamed Salah became the first player to win the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) men's player of the year for a third time on Tuesday after guiding Liverpool to Premier League glory. Arsenal's Mariona Caldentey won the women's player of the year accolade after her role in helping the Gunners win the Champions League. The Spanish midfielder scored 19 goals in all competitions, including eight in the Champions League, in her first season in England. Olivia Smith recently joined Caldentey at Arsenal in a world-record £1 million ($1.4 million) deal and won the women's young player of the year prize following her superb season at Liverpool. UEFA Confirms Dates for 2025/2026 European Competition Draws in Monaco
Rana Atef UEFA announced that the league phase draws for the 2025/2026 season will take place on August 28 and 29 in Monaco. The UEFA Champions League draw will be held on Thursday, August 28, featuring 36 clubs divided into four pots based on seeding.
