This Bonkers Underwater Jetpack Lets You Fly Through the Water at 7 MPH
CudaJet has made soaring through the seas as simple as putting on a backpack. The British company has unveiled a new underwater jetpack that allows you to fly through the water at speeds of up to roughly 7 mph. (That probably feels much faster than it sounds.) More from Robb Report Bulgari Unveils the First Mansion in Its Residential Resort in Turkey Buffalo Trace's Weller Line Just Dropped Its Oldest Whiskey Yet This $42 Million Mansion in Beverly Hills Was Once Home to a 'Gone With the Wind' Star The all-electric hydrodynamic device is the brainchild of Archie O'Brien. The British designer developed the first 'Cuda' prototype in 2018, putting in a further 30,000 hours of development before releasing the first commercial version in 2023. The design has been refined further still, with the 2025 edition being lighter and more juiced-up than previous models. The major draw of the underwater jetpack is that it is entirely hands-free, unlike Seabobs and other sea scooters that require a tight grip. The backpack-like design, which weighs around 31 pounds all up, allows you to dive and spin like a dolphin at a speed of nine feet per second. The harness itself is made of heavy-duty fabric, with a high-grade limestone neoprene wrapping around the body. The back panel incorporates a carbon fiber skeleton to help everything stay stiff and secure against the thrust. Speaking of which, the jetpack is equipped with a patented propulsion system that generates nearly 90 pounds of thrust. The electric motor drives a specially designed impeller that produces a powerful water jet, displacing about four gallons of water per second and pushing the user forward with remarkable force. Rated to 131 feet (40 meters), the jetpack is fitted with a 1 kWh lithium polymer battery that enables about 90 minutes of diving and can be fully charged in 75 minutes. The jetpack is connected to an ergonomic controller with a full-color, hardened display that shows your performance, battery levels, and current depth. The system is said to be incredibly intuitive, requiring only about five minutes of use before the diver becomes comfortable. CudaJet is not the only one making this style of underwater jetpack—XiaoTun recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for a similar but slightly more affordable device—but the British company claims it created the world's first. The jetpacks are made to order in the U.K., with a three-month lead time required for each. The regular 2025 model is priced at $30,778. CudaJet has also released a more premium Founder's Edition. Limited to 20, this exclusive numbered edition showcases a distinctive livery that combines jet black with gold highlights and a shimmering top coat. It also includes a lifetime warranty, in-water training, and first access to future products. CudaJet hasn't listed a price for the Founder's Edition, but says only 14 units are remaining. Bob Vylan Frontman Slams Politicians And Mainstream Media's Stark U-Turn On Gaza
The frontman of the punk-rap duo Bob Vylan has admitted that seeing certain politicians' stance on the conflict in the Middle East change has left him feeling 'like I've truly gone crazy'. Last month, Bob Vylan delivered one of the most talked-about sets at this year's Glastonbury festival, where they made headlines after leading the crowd in chants of 'free Palestine' and 'death to the IDF', referring to Israel's army. At the time, the group faced condemnation from Glastonbury's organisers, the BBC – who broadcast the set live on its iPlayer service – and prime minister Keir Starmer. Meanwhile, local police said shortly afterwards that they were opening a criminal investigation based on both Bob Vylan and Kneecap's Glastonbury sets, though this has since been confirmed to have been dropped. In the last few weeks, after more photos and news from Gaza have become further shared on social media and in the mainstream media, many have taken a firmer stance against Israel and in solidarity with Palestine. This includes Starmer himself, who issued a statement on Thursday taking issue with the 'suffering and starvation unfolding in Gaza', which he described as 'unspeakable and indefensible'. The suffering and starvation unfolding in Gaza is unspeakable and indefensible. — Keir Starmer (@Keir_Starmer) July 24, 2025 Posting on X on Monday morning, musician Bobby Vylan wrote: 'Watching politicians and mainstream media suddenly change their rhetoric on the genocide makes me feel like I've truly gone crazy. 'Can someone please confirm that a few weeks ago they villainised us on the front pages for being against this while they were very much pro-genocide?' He added: 'I beg, we must never let them forget the stance they took and the damage they could have prevented, the lives they could have saved. We have to remind them every time they cross our path.' Watching politicians and mainstream media suddenly change their rhetoric on the genocide makes me feel like I've truly gone crazy. Can someone please confirm that a few weeks ago they villainized us on the front pages for being against this while they were very much pro-genocide. — Bob Vylan (@BobbyVylan) July 28, 2025 I beg, we must never let them forget the stance they took and the damage they could have prevented, the lives they could have saved. We have to remind them every time they cross our path. — Bob Vylan (@BobbyVylan) July 28, 2025 Reacting to the media furore surrounding their Glastonbury set last month, Bob Vylan members Bobby and Bobbie Vylan insisted in a joint statement: 'We are not for the death of Jews, Arabs or any other race or group of people. We are for the dismantling of a violent military machine. A machine whose own soldiers were told to use 'unnecessary lethal force' against innocent civilians waiting for aid. A machine that has destroyed much of Gaza.' 'The government doesn't want us to ask why they remain silent in the face of this atrocity. To ask why they aren't doing more to stop the killing. To feed the starving,' the pair continued. 'The more they talk about Bob Vylan, the less they spend answering for their criminal inaction.' Mastercard extends payment collaboration with Uber
Mastercard has extended its partnership with Uber, focusing on improving payment solutions for drivers, couriers, and Mastercard users on the Uber platform. As part of this collaboration, Uber will utilise a variety of Mastercard products and services, including Mastercard Move for real-time disbursements, Mastercard One Credential to streamline the payment experience, and Mastercard Gateway capabilities for collections, to bolster its business operations. The Uber Pro Card, which Mastercard currently supports in the US and Canada, has been renewed in those markets and will see an expansion into new regions, including the UK. This card enables Uber drivers and couriers to receive instant payments at no cost after each trip or delivery, along with benefits such as leading cash-back rewards on fuel purchases, according to Mastercard. Mastercard co-president of Global Partnerships Sherri Haymond said: 'This partnership connects over 3.5 billion cards and more than 150 million merchants that accept Mastercard globally together with Uber's community of over 8.5 million earners and 170 million users worldwide. 'By leveraging Mastercard's end-to-end payment solutions, this deepened work will provide integrated, trusted and seamless payment experiences for Uber's workers, small business owners, and consumers while also supporting Uber's growth.' In conjunction with this expansion, the Uber Pro Card will also enhance payment experiences by incorporating Mastercard One Credential, a single digitally connected credential that provides greater payment options. Additionally, Uber's global customer base will gain access to Mastercard's consumer payment products and services, including its Offers Platform, which will introduce unique benefits and added value for Mastercard cardholders purchasing delivery and mobility services on Uber's platform. Mastercard Gateway, the company's global processing and fraud prevention solution, will also be employed to enable Uber to accept a diverse range of digital transactions swiftly and securely. Uber vice president of Global Commerce Karl Hebert said: 'We could not be more excited to be deepening our relationship with a similarly forward-thinking and innovative business like Mastercard. 'At the heart of this partnership is a desire to grow benefits for all our mutual customers, be it the businesses that rely on Uber to earn each day, or those using the platform to Go Anywhere and Get Anything.' "Mastercard extends payment collaboration with Uber" was originally created and published by Electronic Payments International, a GlobalData owned brand.
