Last year, it was shared that Sydney Sweeney, the blonde bombshell known to play Cassie Howard in Euphoria, was set to star as legendary boxer Christy Martin, dubbed 'the female Rocky' in her upcoming namesake biopic. And as expected, for the role, Sydney underwent a major physical transformation.
Now, nine months on from the initial announcement, Sydney has posted another image of herself as Christy in the film, this time rocking a shocking brunette mullet, a style worlds apart from her trademark look.
Sydney captioned the Instagram post, which has now racked up over 200,000 likes, 'CHRISTY.' Ding ding...
Understandably, the hairdo in question is the result of a well-made wig (aka, it's movie magic, people); however, that doesn't take away from the drama of the transformation. After all, the shaggy texture of this '90s mullet is so on-trend ATM. Don't believe me? Read all about the style here.
Paying homage to the boxing champion, Sydney previously shared her gratitude for landing the role. 'Well the cats out of the bag thanks to some paps in bushes so here's a little bts from my film I'm working on right now. over the past few months, I've been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman—a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring. Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I'm honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all. More to come soon :) CHRISTY MARTIN," Sydney wrote in the caption of her first IG announcement.'
And with that (and the new hairstyle), we cannot wait to see Sydney as Christy in full action. September 2025 can't come soon enough!

Brad Pitt's mother Jane Pitt dies at 84, family mourns her loss

Brad Pitt 's mother, Jane Pitt, has died at the age of 84, the actor's niece, Sydney Pitt, announced this week. According to her obituary, Jane Pitt died on Tuesday, Aug. 5. She is survived by her husband William Alvin "Bill" Pitt and their children, Brad Pitt, Doug Pitt and Julie Neal (née Pitt). In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Sydney Pitt, Doug Pitt's daughter, wrote a touching tribute to her grandmother, celebrating her legacy and the love she gave to others. "My sweet Grammy, Jane Etta, we were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier," she wrote in the caption alongside photos of Jane Pitt throughout her life. "If you knew Grammy, you knew she had the biggest heart. She cared deeply for everyone and everything, no questions asked," she continued. "She taught me how to paint, how to be strong, how to lead with kindness, to love Jesus through everything, and to find joy in the smallest things. She made up the silliest games just to make us laugh, and she believed in fairness, in putting others first, and doing good simply because it was the right thing to do." Sydney Pitt also recalled how every year before school, Jane would give each grandchild a "special day," filled with activities like banana splits, board games and rides at Silver Dollar City. "She could keep up with all 14 of us grandkids without missing a beat. There was no limit to the love she gave, and everyone who met her felt it," Sydney Pitt added. "I don't know how we move forward without her. But I know she's still here in every brushstroke, every kind gesture, every hummingbird. She was love in its purest form." "We were truly blessed to have her to love on growing up and I know she lives on through each of us ♥️🪽✨🦜," she concluded the post. Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Jane Pitt was a former elementary school teacher who raised Brad Pitt and her two other children with her husband, Bill Pitt, in Springfield, Missouri. While Jane Pitt and Bill typically avoided the spotlight, they occasionally accompanied their famous son on the red carpet, including at the 2012 Oscars and the 2014 premiere of Angelina Jolie's "Unbroken." Her obituary also highlights Jane Pitt's passion for art and her devoted role as a grandmother. "Jane was a gifted artist who expressed herself most vividly through painting," the obituary read. "Her love for art became a cherished bond between her and her grandchildren during craft sessions and painting lessons that created lasting memories." "Known affectionately as 'Grammy,' Jane found immense joy in celebrating each grandchild's uniqueness through one-on-one traditions lovingly known as 'Your Special Day,'" the note continued. "These treasured moments remain among the fondest memories for all fourteen of her grandchildren."

Rod Stewart's AI-Generated Ozzy Osbourne Controversy, Explained

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - FEBRUARY 26: Singer Rod Stewart performs on stage at the Acer Arena on February 26, 2008 in Sydney, Australia. (Photo by Don Arnold/WireImage) WireImage Singer Rod Stewart sparked backlash after his concert featured an AI-generated tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne, which struck many as distasteful. Osbourne passed away last month at the age of 76—his death inspired an outpouring of love and affection from his fans and peers, but Stewart's AI-generated tribute invoked unease. Rod Stewart has been paying tribute to Osbourne ever since he passed away, with Stewart regularly dedicating his song 'Forever Young' to the Black Sabbath star during his 'One Last Time' tour. Stewart's concert on August 1 featured a new addition to the 'Forever Young' tribute—a bizarre, AI-generated video of Osbourne taking selfies with deceased celebrities, standing before a cloudy background meant to represent Heaven. Celebrities featured in the AI-generated video include Prince, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, XXXTentacion, Tupac Shakur, Freddie Mercury, Bob Marley, Kurt Cobain, and Amy Winehouse. The fact that many of these late stars suffered tragic, untimely deaths adds to the ghoulishness of the display—all are shown grinning inanely at the camera, animated by the digital necromancy of generative AI. Concertgoers quickly shared their reaction on social media, along with online commentators who did not attend the show. Relatives of XXXTentacion and Tupac Shakur told TMZ that they had no problems with the AI-generated tribute, but many fans felt otherwise. One commentator described the tribute as a 'sign of stupidity'—many reckoned it was 'creepy and tasteless.' Another expressed shock at the contents of the video, and concluded, 'We truly are in the end times.' The condemnation echoed the words of the legendary Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki, whose negative reaction to a generative AI presentation became something of a rallying cry for anti-AI artists. Musing on what he had just witnessed, a dispirited Miyazaki said, 'I feel like we are nearing the end times. We humans are losing faith in ourselves.' The Backlash Against Generative AI Continues Generative AI has been controversial since release—it's an energy-intensive invention built on the output of artists without their consent, threatening the livelihood of workers and polluting the internet with machine-made content. Recent concerns about AI involve the altering of real video and imagery, such as the reshaping of The Wizard of Oz to fit the Las Vegas Sphere. Lately, AI enthusiasts have been using the technology for a more unsettling purpose, posting pictures of their deceased relatives that they have 'animated' using AI, old photographs imbued with the appearance of life. Many commentators react to these re-animated clips with visceral disgust and horror, often citing works of fiction that warn against meddling with memories, or attempting to reanimate the dead. The AI-generated Ozzy Osbourne tribute feels like a step toward the normalization of such practices, trivializing the memory of the deceased with images and videos that do not feature their true self, but a machine-made echo of their likeness. It wasn't long ago that generative AI crossed a technological boundary, capable of creating convincing video of anyone, doing anything—now, it's forcing the dead to smile for the camera. Sources close to the family confirmed to TMZ on Wednesday, August 6, that Jane died within the past couple of days. One of Jane's granddaughters, Sidney Pitt, also posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. 'My sweet Grammy, Jane Etta, we were not ready for you to go yet but knowing you are finally free to sing, dance, and paint again makes it a tad easier.,' Sidney began her caption. She elaborated on how her 'Grammy' taught her strength, how to paint, and kindness. She told childhood stories, and how her grandmother believed in 'doing good simply because it was the right thing to do.' Brad, 60, was said to be especially tight with his mother, often crediting her as the emotional cornerstone of their family. Jane worked as a family counselor and generally stayed out of the public eye, though she did attend several red carpets along with Brad's father, William Pitt, to support her son throughout his career.
