Tributes paid to 'kind and caring' 13-year old Maddi
Around 300 people celebrated Maddi Bray's life at her funeral at Taunton Deane Crematorium on Tuesday (June 17).

She leaves her mother Lora, stepfather Sam, and seven-year-old sister Imogen. Also her grandparents Martin and Heather.
Sam said: 'Maddi would have been disappointed to miss the funeral and be sad not to see her piece in the County Gazette.

'I've been part of her world since she was four.
'She was intelligent, clever, beautiful, very funny, determined and always wanted to impress.
'She was very talented in lots of fields. Her school work looked like being a success, she loved drama, music and singing and was a very good swimmer.'
Maddi attended Stoke St Gregory and Thurlbear Primary Schools, before moving to Bishop Fox's.
She lived nearby off South Road and was looking forward to a Disney school trip in July.
She was a Girl Guide and enjoyed performing in the annual Gang Show variety entertainment.
Sam added: 'She was kind and caring and would go out of her way in the Guides to be the one to take anyone who had just joined under her wing.
'It's been a huge shock. It's very sad and we're now trying to negotiate the new new.
'It's something we just didn't expect.'
Bishop Fox's headteacher Kerry Tonkin said the school community was 'shocked and extremely sad' and described Maddi as hard-working and making 'great academic progress' with a proud 100 per cent attendance record.
Ms Tonkin added: 'Performing arts is where Maddi found her passion.
'She was actively involved with drama, both in school and as part of Somerset Youth Theatre.
'Maddi also loved music. She regularly performed in our school concerts, was a vocalist in our school rock band and was in both our school choir and Year 8 choir.
'Maddi had many friends in school; she had a kind heart and a great sense of humour.
'She was proudly one of us and she will be missed by so many Bishop Fox's staff and students.'
The school plans in time to hold a formal tribute to celebrate Maddi's 'fantastic life'.
Following Maddi's death at home on May 25, friends set up a fundraiser on gofundme.com to support her family that has so far raised almost £4,000.

Samaritans to host summer ball to support charity
The Samaritans of Ipswich and East Suffolk are set to host a summer ball to support their work with people in emotional distress. The 'Spectacular Summer Ball' will take place at The Talbooth in Dedham on Friday, September 5, with proceeds going to the branch, which offers support locally and as part of the national network. Entertainment on the night will include performances by local bands, the Fever Pitch Barbershop Quartet and The Bears. Nicholas Pandolfi, who is formerly of BBC Radio Suffolk, will act as Master of Ceremonies. The evening will feature a live auction with three headline prizes, a silent auction, raffle, and games. Donations have been received from local organisations and individuals, and further contributions or expressions of interest in the silent auction can be made by contacting ipswich@ A small number of tickets remain available and can be booked by emailing the organisers. The event is set to start at 7pm and tickets are priced at £90.

Heston Blumenthal recalls moment police came to section him at his home
Celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal has opened up about the moment police came to his house to section him in November 2023 after his wife of eight months feared he was a danger to himself. The 59-year-old was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and spent two weeks in a psychiatric hospital with 'grey walls, concrete floors, a metal bed with a PVC mattress and no sheets on it', before being transferred to a clinic for a further six weeks of intense psychiatry sessions. Blumenthal's intervention came following months of manic behaviour, which saw him talk at speed for hours without pausing. The chef became obsessed with Newton and Einstein's theories of evolution and barely slept. He believed the television was talking to him and hallucinated images, sound and touch. It was after Blumenthal saw a gun on the table in front of him, drew a picture of it, and showed his wife, Melanie Ceysson, that she called the mayor in their village in Provence, France, for help. Speaking to The Times, Blumenthal said he did think it was strange when he spotted a policeman at the back of his house. 'But I also thought, 'He seems like a really nice man,'' he reflected. 'So he came in, we sat down on the sofa and I showed him my OBE and my coat of arms. 'I was not thinking, 'What the f*** is a policeman doing in my home?' ' Shortly afterwards, a second police officer arrived at the front door and was followed by five firefighters and a doctor, who told Blumenthal they were taking him to hospital. 'I started to fight them, but they pinned me down on the sofa, two on each arm and one at the front,' he said. 'And then I saw, out of the corner of my eye, the man in the white coat pulling out a big syringe and I thought, 'Just let it go.' ' Nineteen months on, Blumenthal is still heavily medicated and has just begun to feel comfortable travelling alone between Marseilles airport and London Heathrow. 'I'm still bad in crowds though,' he says. 'I have so much fear and anxiety now – about everything. I had no fear before.' Bipolar disorder is often broken down into types and subtypes – such as bipolar I, bipolar II, rapid cycling and cyclothymia. Type 1 bipolar, the kind that Blumenthal has, is characterised by at least one manic episode, with many individuals also experiencing depressive episodes.
