Corpay and Circle form stablecoin partnership

Finextra3 days ago
Corpay, Inc., (NYSE: CPAY), the corporate payments company, has announced a new collaboration with a subsidiary of Circle Internet Group, Inc., (NYSE: CRCL), a global fintech firm, to expand stablecoin access across global payment channels.

They will work together to embed USDC across Corpay's cross-border pay-in and pay-out rails allowing companies to access blockchain's 24/7 settlement and programmability.
Early Benefits of the Collaboration:
Integrated Access to USDC: Corpay will integrate Circle Mint and related APIs, enabling clients to access and manage USDC directly through Corpay's platform.
USDC Wallets Built Into Customer Accounts: Clients will be able to fund Corpay-branded digital wallets—powered by Circle Wallets—instantly, enabling onchain settlement and seamless currency conversion alongside traditional fiat balances.
24/7 Global FX with Stablecoins: Businesses can fund transactions in USDC (and where available, EURC), with payouts in local currencies across 80+ countries, enhancing speed and liquidity for global operations.
Commercial Cards with Stablecoin Support: Corpay is working to enable its commercial card products—including fleet, purchasing, and travel cards—to draw directly from USDC balances. Each transaction will be authorized onchain and settled in fiat automatically.
'By working with Circle and adding USDC to our funding and disbursement capabilities, we're giving our clients a new real-time option that complements the payment networks they already trust. This collaboration will unlock programmable controls and 24/7 liquidity without changing the way they transact today,' said Mark Frey, Group President at Corpay Cross-Border Solutions.
'Working with Corpay represents the next evolution of how businesses move money globally—faster, more transparently, and with the power of blockchain infrastructure,' said Kash Razzaghi, Chief Business Officer at Circle. 'By embedding USDC into Corpay's robust network, we're delivering enterprise-grade stablecoin utility across card payments and cross-border FX, all while upholding the compliance and reliability standards that global businesses demand.'

No Hemi at Roadkill Nights—For Now A few days ago, there was reason to believe Dodge might finally announce the return of the Hemi V8 in the new Charger Daytona during Roadkill Nights. The speculation came after the brand teased an announcement, leading some to expect a big reveal for fans of the classic muscle car power plant. Instead, Dodge's presentation focused on pricing for the new Charger Sixpack and confirming that the Durango will go all-V8 for the 2026 model year. For those anticipating an eight-pot comeback in the Charger, the absence of any mention of a Hemi V8 might have seemed like the end of the conversation. Previous Pause Next Unmute 0:00 / 0:09 Full screen VW will introduce a sub-$20,000 EV, but probably not here Watch More However, Dodge CEO Matt McAlear has all but confirmed that the Hemi is still very much in the picture. The Hemi V8 Will Fit, Contrary to Previous Claims In a media roundtable, McAlear was asked directly whether the supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 could fit under the hood of the new Charger sedan and coupe, Motor1 reports. 'Don't be surprised if it would fit,' McAlear said, a stark contrast to earlier statements from Dodge representatives, who told Jalopnik in 2024 that the platform simply couldn't accommodate the engine without significant redesign work. McAlear explained that the Charger's modular STLA Large platform was designed from the start to support multiple powertrains, ranging from all-electric to high-performance V8s, and even left the door open for a plug-in hybrid. He added that this flexibility allows Dodge to adjust to shifts in consumer demand and regulatory conditions. Given that the Hellcat is larger than the naturally aspirated 5.7-liter Hemi, his comment suggests both engines could find their way into the lineup. What's Next for the Charger Lineup The Charger Daytona EV, despite strong performance figures and distinctive features like its synthetic Fratzonic propulsion sound, has struggled in the marketplace. Dodge sold just 4,299 Daytona coupes in the first half of 2024, compared to over 20,000 Challenger coupes during the same period. Price cuts began shortly after launch and have continued, and while a four-door Daytona is expected before the end of the year, it is unlikely to outsell the incoming gas-powered models. One of those is the Charger Sixpack, powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six making up to 550 horsepower. It will arrive in showrooms during the first half of 2026, starting at $51,990 (includes destination), or about $10,000 less than the EV. Dodge also continues to develop the tri-motor SRT Banshee, which promises more than 900 hp and could challenge the quickest electric sedans on the market. However, given strong demand for Hemi-powered Ram trucks, a V8 Charger announcement is likely before the end of the year, with pricing expected to carry only a modest premium over existing models.

Our pharma industry powerhouses need emergency treatment

Most of Donald Trump's tariffs look likely to settle around the 15pc mark, a level that can be absorbed into the global trading system without too much disruption. But the President appears determined to bring pharmaceutical manufacturing back on shore, using punitive tariffs where necessary. It might start with a few percentage points. But very quickly it will ramp up. The UK needs to find a way of making sure we are exempt from that – otherwise one of our most valuable industries may very soon be lost completely. Amid all the noise over his range of import levies, the constant changes of plan, and the boasting about 'great deals', President Trump has at least been consistent on one point. He thinks medicines should be manufactured within the United States. 'In one year, one and a half years maximum, it's going to go to 150pc and then it's going to go to 250pc because we want pharmaceuticals made in our country,' Trump announced last week. With levies on that scale, in effect the major drug companies won't have any choice. They will have to manufacture within the United States, or else their profits in the world's largest market for medicines will be completely wiped out. There are a handful of countries that will be hit, and arguably more so than the UK. Switzerland is already reeling from the 39pc tariffs that Trump has imposed on the country, a move that may well plunge its fabulously wealthy economy into a rare recession, and drugs are one of its major exports.
