DESI TRILL releases Brown Is Everywhere Vol. 2, a six-track EP featuring YUNG SAMMY, Natania, Subhi, Mumzy, Muza, DJ LYAN, and Aman
A year after the success of its debut EP, genre-defining South Asian music label DESI TRILL has returned with Brown Is Everywhere (Volume 2) — a six-track compilation that blends South Asian heritage with the global soundscape of hip-hop, R&B, pop, and electronic music.
Founded by industry powerhouses Ty-Ty Smith and Shabz Naqvi, DESI TRILL has been at the forefront of taking South Asian sounds to international audiences. In 2024, the label reached a historic milestone when its artists Natania and Subhi were featured alongside Cardi B and DJ Khaled on Higher Love for Paramount's record-breaking animated feature The Smurfs. The track marked the first time Punjabi sounds were woven into an animated film soundtrack, pushing DESI TRILL even further into the global spotlight.
Now, with Brown Is Everywhere Vol. 2, DESI TRILL is once again curating a sonic journey that transcends borders. Speaking about the label's mission, co-founder Ty-Ty Smith said, 'The journey of DESI TRILL is a testament to the power of cultural convergence in music. From day one, our mission has been to dismantle boundaries and amplify voices that authentically blend heritage with contemporary sound. The success of 2024 underscores our unwavering commitment to this vision, proving that 'Brown Is Everywhere' is not just a compilation, but a global movement."
Shabz Naqvi added that the project was about more than just picking great songs, 'Curating Brown Is Everywhere Vol. 2 was about capturing the diverse pulse of South Asian talent and presenting it with uncompromising artistry. Each artist on this compilation embodies the innovative spirit and boundless potential that defines DESI TRILL. We are immensely proud to showcase such a formidable array of artists who are shaping the future of global South Asian music."
Six Tracks, Six Distinct Sounds
The EP brings together a powerhouse lineup of artists from across the globe:
DJ LYAN, Banglaboy x Dee MC – Tauba: A high-tempo electro mix designed to set dance floors alight.
Mumzy ft. Muza – Ki Kori: A melodic Bangladeshi collaboration with wide crossover appeal, especially among female listeners.
Subhi – Tehtul-E-Ishq: A beautifully crafted ballad that captures the soulful essence of India.
Aman ft. Shaurya – Neend: The newest DESI TRILL signee teams up with Shaurya for a lush, emotive composition.
A Celebration of Global South Asian Culture
To mark the EP's launch, DESI TRILL will host the Brown Is Everywhere party at Khar Social, Mumbai on August 22, 8 PM onwards. Hosted by Trishai, the night will feature live performances by MUKT, Jungle Assembly, The Dharavi Dream Project, Tryps, Suggahunny, and Nasha, with a special pre-birthday set to cap off the celebrations.
Over the years, DESI TRILL has become more than a music label — it's a cultural movement bridging continents. With Brown Is Everywhere Vol. 2, Smith, Naqvi, and their roster of talent continue to redefine what it means to be a South Asian artist on the global stage.

UFC sees 1000% growth in rights fees as Paramount strikes $7.7B deal

Anthony Hernandez, Roman Dolidze (Image Source: Getty) A media deal for the ages is in the making at the UFC: U.S. rights fees jumped 1,000 % as Paramount is inking a $7.7 billion, seven-year U.S. media rights pact. The deal will change how the UFC brings in money and how fans can see their offering. A seismic shift in media strategy and rights value In a deal that dwarfed the previous ESPN deal and reportedly doubled its annual value to around $1.1 billion per year, Paramount, post-acquisition of Skydance, snagged the UFC rights. The deal was reached in an unprecedented 48-hour negotiation window following the Skydance-Paramount acquisition. That's an astonishing 1000% increase in rights fees, which shows how much the popularity of the UFC has skyrocketed. Fans can also assume how crazy the race for premium live content has gotten among streaming platforms. Fans benefit, fighters see brighter prospects According to the agreement, all 13 annual numbered UFC events and 30 Fight Nights will exclusively stream on Paramount+, beginning in 2026, with select events simulcast on CBS. With this action, WWE officially marks the end of the traditional pay-per-view (PPV), where events are grouped under a mega subscription, between $8 (ad-supported) and $13 (ad-free) each month. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Man Saves Pennies For 45 Years Despite Warning Undo Also Read: UFC cage fight 2026: Is Ivanka set to host the White House event - Here's what Donald Trump wants In addition, UFC President Dana White also confirmed that fighter compensation will benefit from the deal as well, particularly regarding performance bonuses that have remained at $50,000 for an extremely long time. Strategic ambitions and market implications The bold gambit from Paramount, for which new CEO David Ellison was recently installed in the big chair, mirrors an overall effort to reinvigorate the platform with appointment-viewing, year-round content, filling potential gaps in scripted programming, and increasing subscriber stickiness in a highly competitive streaming ecosystem. A bet on the future of the UFC, with an estimated U.S. fanbase now closer to 100 million, growing 25% since 2019 in the pay-per-view space alone, gives it a cornerstone asset to play this game alongside. The deal also provides Paramount with the rights to a 30-day window of exclusivity to negotiate international rights, opening up possibilities for wider global expansion. Altogether, Paramount isn't just buying media rights; they're buying an entire ecosystem. In addition to live events, the studio will create original UFC content, docuseries, and behind-the-scenes features, as well as stories that benefit from tech integration and cross-platform promotion with CBS.
