Processing of 'Ungaludan Stalin' petition reviewed in TN's Villupuram
The Collector recalled that the scheme launched by CM MK Stalin, aims to deliver essential government services and welfare benefits to citizens. In Villupuram, the first phase of camps began on July 15 and will run until August 14, covering 102 camps including 21 in urban areas offering 43 services across 13 departments, and 81 in rural areas offering 46 services across 15 departments, according to official sources.
Collector Rahman examined the total number of petitions received, department-wise breakup, resolved petitions, pending cases, and reasons for pendency. He also instructed expedition of resolutions and gave special attention to applications under the 'Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam' women's welfare scheme, with verification visits to applicants' homes, an official release said.
An ongoing camp at Kovilpuraur in Melmalaiyanur panchayat union was also inspected, and the collector interacted with residents and reviewed basic amenities. He also checked the registration of petitions with the CM's grievance redressal portal, the release added.
The inspection covered health department activities, including medical check-ups at the camp, and agricultural department initiatives such as providing a subsidised power sprayer worth Rs 8,500 to a farmer, official sources said.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate two major National Highway projects in the national capital on Sunday, that will help in easing congestion on the roads and also add to smooth and better connectivity in Delhi-NCR region. The two projects, having an estimated cost of nearly Rs 11,000 crore, will be launched by the Prime Minister at around 12.30 p.m. in Rohini, following which he will also address the public gathering. The projects, Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), are part of the government's comprehensive plan to decongest the capital, improve connectivity, cut travel time, and reduce traffic in Delhi and its surrounding areas. The 10.1 km long Delhi section of Dwarka Expressway has been developed at a cost of around Rs 5,360 crore. The section will also provide multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi, DMRC Blue line and Orange line, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station and the Dwarka cluster Bus Depot. Out of the 10 km long stretch, 5.9 km will be from Shiv Murti intersection to Dwarka Sector-21, while 4.2 km will connect Dwarka Sector-21 to the Delhi-Haryana Border. PM Modi had inaugurated the 19 km-long Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway in March 2024. The second project to be opened for public is the Alipur to Dichaon Kalan stretch of Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) along with new links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, built at a cost of around Rs 5,580 crore. It is expected to ease traffic on Delhi's Inner and Outer Ring Roads and busy points like Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09. It will provide direct access to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, reducing traffic snarls, speeding up goods movement in the NCR, and eventually contributing to seamless industrial connectivity. These initiatives reinforce the Centre's vision of creating world-class infrastructure in the capital that enhances ease of living and ensures seamless mobility.

30 lakh petitions filed in 'Ungaludan Stalin' campaign across Tamil Nadu
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government's flagship outreach initiative, 'Ungaludan Stalin', which means (Stalin With You), has seen an overwhelming response from the public, with more than 30 lakh petitions submitted in just 30 days. According to official figures, the petitions were received through 3,561 special camps organised across the state between July 15 and August 14. The campaign, launched to take governance closer to the people, was designed to provide citizens with a platform to submit grievances and seek access to welfare schemes directly at their doorsteps. The initiative enabled lakhs of residents, particularly from rural areas, to bring issues related to welfare schemes, certificates, and government services to the attention of officials without the hurdles of visiting multiple offices. A notable aspect of the petitions was the high number of women applicants. Reports indicate that 13.7 lakh petitions came from women seeking re-enrolment in the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai (KMUT) scheme, a monthly financial assistance programme for eligible women heads of households. The sheer volume of applications underscores both the popularity of the scheme and the demand for ensuring continuity of benefits among the state's women beneficiaries. Officials have emphasised that the government intends to process these petitions on a war footing. The Greater Chennai Corporation, which coordinated the campaign within the city, has assured that all grievances registered during the camps will be addressed within 45 days. Similar assurances have been given by district administrations across Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's government has positioned 'Ungaludan Stalin' as an extension of its larger goal of bringing administration closer to the people.
