Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight to write script for upcoming James Bond film
Oscar-nominated director Denis Villeneuve, known for Dune and Arrival, is already on board to direct the latest installment in the series, alongside producers Amy Pascal (the Spider-Man franchise) and David Heyman (who produced all eight Harry Potter films).
Knight is an award-winning screenwriter, producer, and director.
He is the creator, executive producer, and writer of BAFTA-winning series Peaky Blinders, starring Cillian Murphy, who is reprising the lead role in an upcoming film, also written by Knight.
Knight's work also includes Emmy-nominated shows Taboo and See, the BAFTA-nominated SAS Rogue Heroes, and A Thousand Blows, This Town, The Veil, and All the Light We Cannot See, which earned multiple nominations at the 2024 Golden Globes.
He also co-created the game show phenomenon Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, which has since had recreations across the globe.
It earned a Guinness World Record for best-selling TV entertainment format in 2018, with 102 versions at the time.
The question now remains as to who will take up the iconic role of 007, after Daniel Craig's departure from the franchise after No Time To Die in 2021.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who recently starred in 28 Years Later, remains the bookies' favourite to take on the role, with Callum Turner, Theo James and Henry Cavill also reported to be in the running.
Amazon acquired MGM and its back catalogue - including the James Bond series - in 2022, creating Amazon MGM Studios.
In March 2025, the studio signed a deal with long-standing Bond producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson to gain creative control of the film series.

Tom Holland hints he would play Bond amid 007 rumours
has hinted that he would play James Bond after 007 rumours, saying: 'We'll get there one day.' The Hollywood actor and star of Spider-Man responded to speculation that he might play the world's most famous spy by saying: 'We'll get there one day.' Holland, 29, added that for 'every young British actor, it's the pinnacle of working in our industry'. The Londoner is among several actors tipped for the role of 007 following Amazon's takeover of the franchise. These include: Jacob Elordi, the Australian who starred in Euphoria and Saltburn; Aaron Pierre, star of Rebel Ridge, the 2024 American action thriller; and Harris Dickinson, who acted opposite Nicole Kidman in Babygirl, the erotic thriller. Singer cancels tour over poor ticket sales and confesses he 'aimed too high'
Grammy-nominated artist JP Saxe has been forced to axe his entire tour unless he sells 20,000 tickets immediately after he 'aimed too high'. The Canadian singer, 32, is best known for his hit song If The World Was Ending, which he released in 2019 with vocals from Julia Michaels. The track landed him a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year 2021 but lost out to I Can't Breathe by H.E.R. Four years on, and he's taken to social media to confess he had overestimated how many tickets he could sell to his latest tour. 'I'm extremely embarrassed to tell you this, but I'm going to tell you anyway,' he began in a video posted to social media. 'If I don't sell 20 or so thousand tickets to my tour in the next 48 hours, it's going to be cancelled. 'If we're just not in a place yet to sell out these 2,000-, 3,000-cap venues – that's fine. It's always been my goal to connect deeply, not widely, and I stand by that.' The Make Yourself At Home tour was due to start next month with 32-dates scheduled across America, ending in October. He urged fans who might be waiting until the last minute to purchase tickets to act now so it could go ahead. 'Just in case you were waiting till the week of or night of to buy a ticket – that approach just isn't going to work, because there won't be a show to buy a ticket to,' JP continued.
