Now Alec McKinlay has opened up on whether Liam and his brother Noel have been in the studio for an eighth studio album that would undoubtedly propel the band back to the top of the charts.
Speaking to industry magazine Music Week, Alec revealed the truth behind the speculation and also told the publication what it's been like working with Oasis since the announcement of their long awaited reunion tour, taking place later this year.
The Britpop legends have 41 dates booked for 2025, kicking off at stadiums around the UK this summer and then heading across multiple continents through the rest of the year.
Support will come from Cast, Richard Ashcroft, Cage The Elephant and Ball Park Music.
Among the gigs, their first since 2009, will be a trio of shows at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium and kick off in Cardiff on July 4.
10 million people from over 100 countries attempted to snap up the tickets which sold out in record time.
Explaining how the team kept the news of a comeback tour under wraps last year, McKinlay said: 'The group of people who knew about it in advance was very limited. We were working with people we trusted.'
He added: 'We'd obviously been planning it for a while and the moment when it went live was a little bit of a step into the unknown in terms of how big the reaction would be. When it all hit home, it was just phenomenal. The reaction was very much one of, 'Finally, some good news after all the nonsense that's been going on in the world.''
Rumours about new material from Oasis emerged last year, when Liam Gallagher took to X/Twitter to tell fans that the Manchester icons had 'already finished' a new album.
He then took to social media again to fan the flames, claiming that he had listened to the new material Noel had written for the record and that he was 'blown away by it.'
However, soon after he went back on those comments, saying, 'no Oasis album in the making'.
When a fan account messaged him and questioned why he made the previous statements, he said he 'was fucking joking' and did it for 'a laugh'.
While the singer is known for being light-hearted and flippant on X, he does have a history of leaking clues to news before it becomes public knowledge. In early 2024, he teased the band's reunion tour and the UK and Ireland 2025 dates well before they were officially confirmed.
Alec – who is also the Ignition and Big Brother Recordings director – also shed light on whether fans can expect to see the band working on more material, but put a dampener on the hopes of more tour dates later down the line.
'This is very much the last time around, as Noel's made clear in the press,' he said. 'It's a chance for fans who haven't seen the band to see them, or at least for some of them to.'
He added: 'No, there's no plan for any new music.'
Stereophonics singer Kelly Jones recently revealed that Noel had written new songs.
He said: 'I'm assuming he's doing some writing for either his stuff or if they're gonna bring out a couple songs, I don't know,' Jones said.

Speaking to the publication from his UK tour with his band Public Image Ltd, John added that he loves Noel because he just 'says it like it is'. He also said that the Gallagher brothers make him laugh during interviews, describing them as 'witty' and 'on it in a working-class, quick-as-you-can way'. The interview comes after he opened up on the loss of his wife last month. The singer lost his beloved spouse of 44 years Nora Foster in April 2023 after a five-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. John, who was known as Johnny Rotten during his Sex Pistols days, had drawn an incredible amount of public sympathy following her death having selflessly cared for Nora full-time until her final hours. Now over two years after she passed, the extravagant singer has opened up on the 'agony' he felt as Nora suffered a painful death. In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, the 69-year-old said: 'The pain will never go away. She died painfully, suffocating. They call it the death rattle.' Recalling the moment doctors asked him whether they should prolong Nora's life, he added: 'I couldn't say "yes, stop". No, I fought for her life as hard as she fought for it. 'It's insane, and you don't know how to handle it (the death of a partner). And you can end up being really aggressive with people mollycoddling you. But you have to be full of rage to break out of it, or you'll end up as that sympathetic doddering old idiot that you know you would hate yourself.' The dispute resulted in a High Court battle between John and the Sex Pistols over the use of the band's music in the series - which Rotten ultimately lost. John said he 'won't forget' that his old bandmates 'dragged him through the courts' while Nora was seriously ill. The Sex Pistols shot to fame after forming in 1975, but just three years later they had split up. Their only album together, Never Mind the B******s* - a UK number one - is now a staple of punk rock. The band - whose controversial legacy rests upon their anti-establishment values - famously called the Royal family 'fascists' in 1977's God Save The Queen. Inside Oasis' setlist after iconic song is heard in rehearsals
It's not your imaaaaginaasheeeunnn – it's been revealed that one of Oasis' classic hits will make the setlist of their 2025 world tour. The Manchester rock group, fronted by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, announced a reunion tour 15 years after their acrimonious split in 2009. Starting in Cardiff in July, the Oasis Live 25 tour will conclude in Sao Paolo, Brazil, in November, with five sold-out Manchester dates penciled in for mid-July. With the big tour just a month away now, fans are on the hunt for any hints at the classic Oasis hits that might be included by Liam and Noel in the setlist. Oasis scored an impressive eight number one singles across their 15 years in the spotlight, with a total of 23 of their songs hitting the top 10 of the UK charts. Not to mention that Liam and Noel might use spots in the setlist to perform songs they wrote as part of side-projects Beady Eye and High Flying Birds respectively. This means that some big hits are unlikely to make the cut, leaving some fans disappointed – but one big hit that seems to have been included is the 1994 song Cigarettes & Alcohol. Famed for its interpolation of T-Rex's 1971 chart-topper Get It On (which itself was inspired by a Chuck Berry song) Cigarettes & Alcohol reached number seven in the UK in 1994. It was the final single from Oasis' debut album Definitely Maybe, and eventually reached Platinum status in the UK in March 2020 after shifting 600,000 units. A source who was at one of the band's rehearsals told The Sun: 'Oasis have never sounded better. They were playing Cigarettes & Alcohol and Liam's vocals sounded really good. '[Liam's impressive vocals] were probably down to the two packets of Lockets cough sweets that he was sucking throughout the rehearsal.' The source added: 'You could hear Noel's lead guitar really well and he sounded so good too. To hear them playing live, and playing so loudly, was an incredible moment.' News about the setlist has come just days after it was claimed that Liam and Noel hadn't yet rehearsed together – reports that now appear to be untrue. Insiders claimed that the brothers were taking the same rumoured approach as Rolling Stones legends Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, who would often rehearse apart from each other. More Trending Mick and Keith had personal beef with one another after both rockers ended up being responsible for the break-up of each other's relationships. On top of the promising reports about Cigarettes & Alcohol, Liam confirmed that one Oasis song definitely being included in the setlist is What's the Story? album opener Hello. Rumours suggested that Hello would be cut because it featured lyrics written by former glam rock popstar and convicted sex offender Gary Glitter (real name Paul Gadd).
