"The Beast" from The Chase, Mark Labbett, experienced an embarrassing moment on Celebs Go Dating when he dozed off during a date. The 58-year-old brainbox, renowned for his sharp intellect and straightforward manner on ITV's hit quiz show, was caught on camera taking a snooze mid-date.
The filming for the latest instalment of the Channel 4 dating programme took place last month, where it was noted that the spark was missing between Mark and his date.
An insider remarked: "Mark was yawning a lot and drifted off briefly. It was a bit of an awkward moment. It's safe to say there wasn't much of a spark between them."
Mark, who previously weighed in at 29st, tied the knot with his second cousin Katie in 2014 but they parted ways after six years. He later found love with TV host Hayley Palmer in 2023, although their relationship lasted only a year, reports the Express.

Discussing his time with Hayley, 43, Mark confided to The Sun: "She's a lovely lady and I was very lucky to date her for a year, and as I said: it's me, I got old."
He continued: "There's been no one since Hayley. I'm not saying there won't be another one. But I'm certainly not looking."
Delving into his past romantic life, Mark shared: "I was single, not coincidentally, for a long, long time when I was a 29st maths teacher who knew it was quite hard to attract a partner then. So I'm quite comfortable without a partner."
Mark's spokesperson provided a witty reply when queried about the date: "If his date was as boring as you have suggested, I'm surprised he didn't take a pillow with him!"

It comes as new research by Betway has found the best Chaser. As of June 2025, there are six official Chasers: Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis.
The team analysed factors like accuracy, win rate, and highest target caught, to rank the best Chaser of all time. Financially, Paul Sinha is the Chaser who comes out on top.
Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha boasts a 78 per cent win rate across 436 appearances on The Chase. His average target to beat is 19 and holds the highest average Chaser win total, raking in £14,651, making him the most financially successful chaser on the show.
Meanwhile, Mark 'The Beast' Labbett has a 76 per cent win rate over 475 episodes since he started in 2009. Labbett holds the record for the highest average target to beat, at 20, and the highest accuracy in the final chase, answering 83% of questions correctly.
Topping the ranks as the best Chaser on television is Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty. With 467 appearances and a win rate of 79% - the joint highest of any Chaser - it's no surprise that she's regarded as the most formidable opponent.
In the final chase, Hegerty averages 13 correct answers in the 60-second timeframe, with an average target of 19, the second highest among her peers.

Emmerdale and Coronation Street face major changes

Peter Fincham was the former Director of Television at ITV before Kevin Lygo took over. Fincham has suggested that, due to budget concerns at ITV, Emmerdale could move filming away from Yorkshire and merge production with Coronation Street in Manchester. The ex-ITV boss has predicted that following the recent announcement of daytime changes at the broadcaster, it's likely executives are looking at similar measures for the two soaps. It's the question on everyone's minds... Is Robert back for good? Read more here: Discussing the soaps on The TV Podcast, Fincham said: "You've got Coronation Street being made in Manchester, Emmerdale in Leeds. 'Could you imagine, rather like the daytime consolidation, that ITV will decide to have them both made in the same place under one umbrella? Big savings. 'You still keep Emmerdale set in Yorkshire, but it could be made in Manchester and Salford, which is a bigger hub for ITV. 'I don't think that's inconceivable — it might be being planned as we speak." Emmerdale is currently made in north Leeds, while Coronation Street is mostly filmed in MediaCity in Salford. As the ex-ITV boss adds: "The new hub for Coronation Street in Salford, it cost many, many millions of pounds and it was better facilities for all the people who worked on it in the old place in the middle of Manchester." "Both are uniquely set in Manchester and Leeds and that production model will continue for the long term. "It's pure speculation to say otherwise." The change follows news that ITV is making major changes to its daytime scheduling in 2026. The overhaul will see Good Morning Britain (GMB) extended by half an hour from January 2026, while Lorraine Kelly's morning talk show will be reduced to 30 minutes for 30 weeks of the year.

Clarkson's Farm fans turn on 'horrendous' stars after disastrous finale

Clarkson's Farm viewers have called out two 'horrendous' stars of the show as they sparked a debate on social media Viewers of Clarkson's Farm were left gobsmacked when the closing two parts of the fourth season dropped on Amazon Prime, showcasing some eyebrow-raising financial advice that got tongues wagging on social media. The episodes ignited online chatter as a few punters accused show favourites Sue and Rachel Hawkins of egging Jeremy Clarkson on to splash some serious cash. Notably riled were those who'd watched the host grapple with budget woes throughout the seasons. ‌ The dynamic duo of pub gurus was roped in by the presenter for his latest punt, The Farmer's Dog, their knack for flipping flagging pubs in the Cotswolds into bustling spots is well noted. Yet, not everyone bought it when the ladies hinted at spending £40k on patio parasols, while Jeremy's wallet was braced for a more modest £25k to kick-start his public house plans. ‌ Jeremy had snagged The Windmill, a stone's throw from Burford in Oxfordshire, and looked to the aunt-and-niece team to whip the property into shape within an ambitious five weeks. Despite admitting the tight turnaround was "daunting" and "not ideal," Sue, along with Rachel, charged ahead with the revamp. The series treated viewers to a smattering of cringe-worthy haggles over sprucing up costs before the pair exited the venture just ahead of the grand reveal, leaving a sour taste for some armchair critics, reports the Express. One user criticised: "These two took all the money and, after just two days of operation, claimed the building was not suitable as a pub, quit, and left all the mess behind. You either point that out first and turn down the job, or take the money and make it work." Another voiced their opinion, saying: "These two 'pub experts' were horrendous. Anyone wanting to open a pub should give these two a wide berth. They gave all the problems but zero solutions." A different comment read: "Never have I seen two people promise so much and deliver so little. I have a burning hatred of everything they are. They took on a job, they didn't raise imperative issues beforehand, and just let people suffer and stress." ‌ In an explosive season four finale, the duo faced multiple setbacks with the pub, including non-swivelling barstools and a poorly positioned carvery unit. Sue and Rachel faced the music after a shambolic opening day. ‌ Rachel explained their position, saying: "We are pubs, and we know how to run pubs. We've done pubs forever. This building is not well-suited for its intended purpose. There are too many issues for us to run a successful business from this site, with failing water, no toilets, no gas, leaking roofs, and struggling staff." Sue voiced her concerns, saying: "Everyone is exhausted. Even when we say, 'Go for a break', there's no staffroom. They're weeing in a porta-loo. It's not lovely conditions. They love you and they love working here because of that, and they're excited about the British food, and everything this pub is, they wanna get behind it... But they're working 14-hour days." Clarkson, after a moment of visible frustration, added his own thoughts: "I have no problem with the staff, not one single problem with the staff," he said, having held his head in his hands. "They're all brilliant. They're smiley and they're nice." Clarkson's Farm season 4 is available to stream on Prime Video.
