RVs 4 Heroes began its mission to provide housing to veterans in October of 2024. The nonprofit organization refurbishes donated recreational vehicles to gift to veterans in need. Their mission is only made possible through monetary donations and time from volunteers.
'We make it to the point where it is indeed ready to be lived in as a home full time. So everything in there that they need like pots and pans and dishes, bedding, and all that is all in there for the veteran already so that they can really get a good start,' RVs 4 Heroes president Vee Clark said.
On Tuesday, the organization gifted an RV to Michael Lougheed who served in the United States Army for more than a decade. Since December of 2024, Lougheed has struggled to acclimate back to civilian life and has been unhoused until he learned that he was the recipient of a newly refurbished recreational vehicle.

'This will definitely change my life because it will be able to put me back on my feet and really motivate me to set me forward and like I said to be an asset to Tyler and Smith County,' Lougheed said.
The veteran focused nonprofit organization has a goal of gifting 24 RVs to struggling veterans in the East Texas area this year. For more information on how to donate or volunteer visit the RVs 4 Heroes website.

Tyler City Council approves resolution to add new path connecting parts of the city

TYLER, Texas (KETK) — The Tyler City Council approved a resolution on Wednesday in support of a grant used to build a share use path that will connect Downtown Tyler, hospitals and Tyler Junior College. Anderson County flooding calls for water rescues and closed roads The Midtown to Downtown Shared Use Path is aimed to be a two and a half mile, 10 foot-wide path that would connect popular Tyler destinations such as Downtown Tyler, the new Smith County Courthouse and UT Tyler School of Medicine. This path would be an accessible way for Tylerites to travel on foot from East Fifth Street to South Broadway Avenue. Safety standards for the path include access ramps, lighting, wide concreate trails, signalized intersections and more. Though the path has an estimated $4.8 million price tag, the city expects to qualify for Transportation Development Credits which would completely fund the project through grants instead of a local match. If funding is awarded, the Texas Department of Transportation will help design and develop the project. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. The different types of tags that will be provided are as follows: Buyer's Temporary Tags Dealer's Temporary Tags 30-Day & One-Trip Permits Dealer Agent Tags Dealer Vehicle Specific Tags Internet Down Tags Texans buying a vehicle from a dealer will receive metal license plates at the time of delivery, allowing them to immediately display the plates while awaiting their registration window sticker. When a customer sells or trades a vehicle with general issue plates, dealers will be able to remove the plates and transfer them to another vehicle of the same class sold within 10 days. The process remains unchanged for person-to-person vehicle sales. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
