Jadon Sancho ready to HALVE wages in bid to finally seal Man Utd transfer exit

Daily Mirror7 days ago
Jadon Sancho is one of five players who were excluded from Manchester United's pre-season plans and the England winger is desperate to secure an exit after being frozen out by Ruben Amorim
Manchester United misfit Jadon Sancho is said to be willing to take a 50 per cent pay cut on his eye-watering salary at Old Trafford in order to secure a move to his former club, Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho joined United in a £73million deal from Dortmund back in the summer of 2021 but has struggled to meet expectations and has fallen out of favour under both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.

Last season he was loaned to Chelsea but his form suffered at Stamford Bridge as he scored just three Premier League goals from 19 top flight starts.

And in a brutal end to his spell with the Blues, the London side opted not to turn his move permanent for £25m - instead paying a £5m penalty fee to send him back to United.
Sancho has since been cast aside from Amorim's team and forced to train alone as part of the "Bomb Squad" at their Carrington complex.
He has been strongly linked with a move to Juventus but news on that front has gone cold. Now, reports from German outlet Bild report that he has held initial conversations about a possible return to Dortmund.
Sancho already enjoyed a successful return to the Bundesliga side on loan for the second part of the 2023-24 season, where he scored three times and led the team to the Champions League final. And another season at Signal Iduna Park could now be on the cards, with Sancho said to be pushing for the move.
The report adds that Sancho is willing to take a huge pay cut in order to seal his return to Dortmund and would even consider dropping his current £275,000-a-week salary by half. Sancho is believed to have spoken with Dortmund chiefs Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl in the hopes of sealing the transfer and ending his exile at Old Trafford.

Sancho is one of five players who were left out of United's pre-season tour of the United States, joining Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Marcus Rashford - who has since signed for Barcelona on loan.
Amorim said the thinking behind excluding the group of players was to give them more time to think about their futures and said they would link up with the squad if they did not find new clubs.
"We are just allowing these players to have time to think and to decide," he said. "If we reach a point where they have to join the team, they will join because they are our players. I know Jason, Omar and the club have a number for these players."

Enzo Maresca issues warning over Estevao 'mistake' ahead of Chelsea debut

Enzo Maresca has warned Chelsea about the danger of putting Estevao 'under pressure' in his first season at Stamford Bridge. Last year, Chelsea reached an agreement to sign the 18-year-old from Brazilian side Palmeiras, paying €34 million (£28.7m) up front plus a further €23m (£19.4m) in add-ons. Estevao remained at Palmeiras until after their Club World Cup campaign and he has now joined Chelsea ahead of the new Premier League season. The winger is regarded as one of the brightest young prospects in Brazil and is already being compared to Neymar. But Maresca insists Estevao needs time to adjust following his move to the Premier League. 'For me, the biggest mistake we can do with him is to put him under pressure. He's very young, he needs to adapt,' Maresca said. 'I met him for the first time in the USA when we played against Palmeiras. He's a fantastic player, he's very young, he's a happy boy. He's always laughing, typical from a Brazilian guy and we need to keep him happy. 'We need to pay a little bit more attention, first of all because first of all he's from the other part of the world and also he's very, very young. So we need to pay attention. 'As I said, [he is] not under pressure, give him happiness, give him time, he needs to adapt. Hopefully we can give him minutes, so he's even more happy. But for sure, he's a talented player.' More Trending Maresca also believes Estevao is capable of playing in multiple positions in Chelsea's attack. When asked about where Estevao can fit in Chelsea's team, Maresca said: 'He can play everywhere. 'He's so good. For me, he's like Cole [Palmer], in terms of, careful, he is like Cole in terms of position. 'He can play outside, he can play inside, he can play everywhere. In our five attacking positions, for me, he can play everywhere.' For more stories like this, check our sport page. Follow Metro Sport for the latest news on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Tottenham suffer major blow as James Maddison injury fears confirmed

James Maddison is set to miss large swathes of the upcoming season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The Tottenham midfielder fell to the pitch in the closing stages of Spurs' pre-season clash with Newcastle on Sunday. Maddison was eventually stretchered off the pitch in clear distress with what appeared to be a serious injury on the eve of the new Premier League season. And Tottenham's worst fears have been confirmed, with the club announcing that the Englishman has suffered an ACL injury which will rule him out for the majority of the season. Maddison is now preparing for surgery before beginning his lengthy rehabilitation process. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – click here and sign up before Friday to make sure you don't miss the first edition. 'We can confirm that James Maddison will undergo surgery for a ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in his right knee,' the club said in a statement. 'The 28-year-old midfielder suffered the injury during our pre-season friendly against Newcastle United on Sunday in Seoul. 'His surgery will take place in the coming days and, following that, James will then begin his rehabilitation with our medical team. 'Everyone at Tottenham Hotspur wishes James a full and speedy recovery. We will be supporting him every step of the way.' Speaking after the game, Thomas Frank confirmed that the injury was to the same knee which ruled Maddison out of the Europa League final at the end of last season. 'James Maddison's injury looks bad. It was a brutal moment,' Frank said. More Trending 'I think sometimes in life and football things can be both beautiful and brutal. That's what we got today. 'It looks like with Madders a bad injury and then on the other side unbelievable scenes for Son from his teammates and the respect from the Newcastle players. 'We're pretty sure it was the same knee he injured before.' More to follow. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Vladimir Weiss targets Celtic revenge mission as ex Rangers star defends dad over touchline meltdown

The veteran has come to his dad's defence after his meltdown on the touchline Former Rangers winger Vladimir Weiss is desperate to tee up a Celtic revenge mission by overturning Kairat Almaty's lead in the second leg. ‌ And the veteran has come to his dad's defence after his meltdown on the touchline during the 1-0 defeat in Kazakhstan. ‌ Slovan Bratislava boss Weiss Sr was sent off in their first leg defeat after a late penalty was awarded against his side. ‌ Despite playing the final 25 minutes with 10 men after Rahim Ibrahim was sent off, Slovan looked set to claim a valuable 0-0 draw in Kazakhstan until the last minute of the game, where Dastan Satpaev stepped up to bag the winner from 12 yards after Kairat were awarded a penalty kick. The veteran boss confronted the ref and the fourth official and stormed onto the pitch before being dragged away against the club he used to manage 10 years ago. His son played on loan for Rangers and helped them to a Scottish title in 2011 and is still going strong by captaining Slovan at the age of 35. And he's desperate to get another crack at playing Celtic in the Champions League playoff as he explained his dad's antics. He said: "He's a very emotional man and this match meant even more to him because he used to manage Kairat Almaty. Just as I would do anything for this team, so would he. ‌ "He regrets what happened now, but there's nothing he can do about it now. "Unfortunately, we will miss him in the home leg, but with the quality on our side and with our excellent fans, we will beat them at a sold-out stadium and win through to play against Celtic."
