NDA conclave: PM Modi praises 'wonderful' deliberations on good governance
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday commended all participants of the NDA Chief Ministers' Conclave for sharing best practices and motivating other states to contribute to Viksit Bharat @2047.
After the meeting, attended by about 20 chief ministers and 18 deputy chief ministers, PM Modi posted a message on the social media platform X: 'Participated in the NDA Chief Ministers' Conclave in Delhi. We had extensive deliberations about various issues.'
'Various states showcased their best practices in diverse areas, including water conservation, grievance redressal, strengthening administrative frameworks, education, women empowerment, sports and more. It was wonderful to hear these experiences,' he said.
During the meeting, the leaders listened to PM Modi's Mann Ki Baat address, the first after Operation Sindoor. In the monthly radio address, PM Modi hailed the Armed Forces and said the operation was a reflection of a transforming India, united in the fight against terrorism and recognising the power of being self-reliant, sources said.
The leaders paid tributes to the 26 people who were brutally killed by terrorists on April 22 in Kashmir's Pahalgam. Following this terror attack, India launched Operation Sindoor to avenge the deaths. Nine terror bases in Pakistan and PoK were demolished in precision attacks by the India Armed Forces.
A resolution was also passed praising the armed forces and their performance during Operation Sindoor and hailing PM Modi's leadership in the backdrop of the first anniversary of his government in its third term.
The NDA conclave also adopted a proposal on the caste census. Sources said BJP President J.P. Nadda reminded the NDA leaders that the alliance stands for social justice for the marginalised and does not believe in indulging in politics over caste enumeration.
A significant part of deliberations at this conclave is devoted to best practices by different NDA state governments. Several chief ministers made presentations on the signature schemes of their states.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also attended the conclave and said in a message on X, 'Today in New Delhi, along with all the fellow Chief Ministers, I got the opportunity to listen to the programme of honourable Prime Minister Shri @narendramodiji @MannKiBaat.'

Ex-MLA, Congress leader arrested for ‘derogatory comments' on PM Modi on social media
The Chhattisgarh Police have arrested a serving Congress leader and an ex-MLA for allegedly making 'objectionable' remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media. The arrested people have been identified as Arun Tiwari, a 67-year-old ex-MLA formerly associated with the Congress, and Brijmohan Singh, a current Congress leader from Durg district. The arrests have been made in two separate cases. In the first case, Tiwari, a former MLA from Sipat in undivided Madhya Pradesh, was arrested for having made 'objectionable' remarks about the prime minister's estranged wife Jashodaben while speaking about 'Operation Sindoor' on social media. Tiwari, who is no longer with the Congress, was booked under sections section 296 (obscene act) and 352 (intentional insult) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on the back of a complaint registered on June 2. 'Tiwari was produced before a magistrate court Wednesday and has been remanded to judicial custody. He will be in jail till he is granted bail,' a police officer said. In a similar but unrelated case, Congress leader Brijmohan Singh was arrested under sections 296 (obscene act) and 353 (public mischief) of the BNS for having posted 'abusive comments' on Modi on social media. He has been remanded in judicial custody. Reacting to the arrests, Sushil Anand Shukla, the communications head for the Congress in Chhattisgarh said: 'Arun Tiwari is no longer with the Congress party. Brijmohan ji is a good leader and I do not believe he can use such words. It is either a misunderstanding or it is a conspiracy by the BJP'. The development comes less than a month after Operation Sindoor — India's retaliatory strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam attacks in which 26 people, including a resident of Chhattisgarh's Raipur, was killed.

"The day when dictators were swept away by the people's revolution. The day the people drove away, the madness that had been unleashed in the name of power. The day when the psycho regime came to an end and every citizen enjoyed freedom and peace," the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president posted on 'X'. Naidu recalled that it was the day when democracy was restored in the state by people who voted as a movement. The CM stated that on the occasion of the completion of a year of the one-sided verdict given to change the direction of the state and recalling the victory, he bows his head before the people. "We promise to undertake many more development and welfare programs in the next four years. Congratulations and thanks to the workers and leaders of the Telugu Desam, Jana Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party, who paved the way for the victory of the alliance with their uncompromising fight against the destructive rulers," he added.

India's actions in Op Sindoor measured: Rajnath
NEW DELHI: India on Wednesday told Australia that its actions against Pakistan during the recent four-day military confrontation under Operation Sindoor were 'measured, non-escalatory, proportionate and responsible', during talks between defence minister Rajnath Singh and his Australian counterpart Richard Marles, who is also the deputy prime minister of that country and is on a two-day visit to India. Singh underscored India's right to respond in self-defence against cross-border terror, and the two leaders agreed to work together to combat terrorism. The meeting came at a critical moment as India is taking steps to isolate Islamabad globally following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. India sent seven multi-party delegations to 33 countries to explain its new approach to combating Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and the rationale behind Operation Sindoor --- India's strikes on terror and military installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) following the Pahalgam terror strike in which 26 people were shot dead. The delegations have underlined the need to hold Pakistan and its military establishment accountable for supporting terror groups. Both ministers strongly condemned the terror attack in Pahalgam and expressed deepest condolences to the families of the victims, the defence ministry said. 'India thanks Australia for its unequivocal support to India's resolute response against the barbaric act of terror in Pahalgam,' Singh wrote on X, adding that the two leaders reviewed the full range of the India-Australia defence partnership. Pakistan's Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, which was mounted in response to Operation Sindoor, 'folded in eight hours' on May 10 belying Islamabad's ambitious target of bringing India to its knees in 48 hours, chief of defence staff General Anil Chauhan said on Tuesday. Between the launch of the operation in the early hours of May 7 and the ceasefire on the evening of May 10, Indian forces bombed nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK and killed at least 100 terrorists, and the Indian Air Force struck targets at 13 Pakistani air bases and military installations. On Tuesday, it emerged that India's targeting of locations within Pakistan during the May 7-10 clash was more extensive than was previously known, with a Pakistani document acknowledging that Indian drones had struck locations ranging from Peshawar in the northwest to Hyderabad in the south. Marles' personal commitment and leadership in strengthening bilateral defence cooperation has emerged as an important pillar of the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Singh said. 'The two ministers agreed to intensify and diversify defence industry collaboration, and further defence science and technology collaboration projects when they meet in Australia later this year for the third India-Australia 2+2 ministerial meeting. They also reviewed the progress made since the last 2+2 ministerial dialogue in November 2023,' the defence ministry said in a statement. On the fifth anniversary of the signing of India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, both sides noted that the defence sector has emerged as a key pillar of the collaboration. The two leaders expressed satisfaction at the growing strategic convergence between the two countries and agreed to work together to further the shared objectives of peace, prosperity, stability and progress in the Indian Ocean region, and the larger Indo-Pacific. During the second India-Australia 2+2 foreign and defence ministerial dialogue in 2023, leaders from the two countries held talks centred around deepening military cooperation in critical areas including anti-submarine warfare and air-to-air refuelling, security in the Indo-Pacific region amid China's rising influence, hydrography cooperation and strengthening ties in sectors such as critical minerals, science and technology, space and education. India has 2+2 ministerial dialogues with only a handful of countries, including the US, Japan and Russia. Last year, India and Australia signed an agreement to enable their air forces to conduct air-to-air refuelling, a move aimed at boosting inter-operability between the two sides.
