Founder of PEAQ, Ali Hassoun, shares the conception and creation of the social wellness hub in Al Quoz. How long have you been in this space?
I've been deeply involved in the wellness space since 2019, starting with my own journey into natural therapies like cold water therapy. Over time, this passion grew and led me to the creation of PEAQ in 2024, with the goal of reshaping wellness in the region and making it more social and meaningful for everyone. Have you custom-built any bespoke pieces?
Yes, we've custom-built several bespoke pieces to make the space feel welcoming and social. Our circular seating and communal tables were designed specifically to encourage connection and conversation, bringing people together in a relaxed, inviting way. For those who prefer a bit of privacy, we've also created smaller nooks where members can unwind in peace. The design team, led by Arnaldo Puglia of DNA Associates, also incorporated natural elements like greenery and wood, keeping things grounded while still offering a modern feel. These details help create a space that's both social and peaceful, just like PEAQ itself. How do you think the interior reflects you?
The interior reflects my personal journey and my vision for wellness as a shared experience. It's a representation that wellness isn't just about personal recovery – it's also about community and connection. The use of natural materials and thoughtful lighting brings a sense of calm, while the communal spaces show my passion for creating meaningful relationships. The design blends Dubai's fast-paced energy with a peaceful retreat, offering a spot where people can pause, reset, and reconnect. Describe your taste in three words.
