World Malaria Day Observed with Awareness Rally in Jogulamba Gadwal
The rally commenced from the old DM&HO office and proceeded up to the old bus stand, echoing powerful slogans and awareness messages related to malaria and other mosquito-borne illnesses. A large number of participants, including health department staff, Urban Health Center workers, ASHA workers, and health supervisors, actively took part in the march.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. S.K. Siddappa emphasized the importance of community participation in the fight against mosquito-borne diseases. He stated that mosquitoes are the primary enemies of public health, transmitting dangerous diseases such as malaria, filariasis, chikungunya, dengue, and encephalitis. He urged the public to maintain cleanliness in their homes and surroundings to prevent mosquito breeding and protect their health.
The rally served as a reminder of the ongoing battle against malaria and the critical role of hygiene and awareness in controlling the spread of the disease. The event concluded with renewed commitment from all health workers to continue educating communities and working towards a malaria-free future.

Over 3 lakh children to be administered deworming tablets in Eluru district
The National Deworming Day (NDD) programme will be held in Eluru district on August 12 (Tuesday) covering all children between the ages 1 and 19 across anganwadi centres, government and government-aided primary, upper primary, high schools, intermediate colleges, ITIs, and first-year degree colleges. Eluru DM&HO P.J. Amrutam in a press release on Monday said that a total of 3,76,263 children will be administered Albendazole tablets to eliminate intestinal worms, such as roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and tapeworms, with the aim of improving their overall health and development. Children between the age of 1 to 2 would be given half a tablet (200 mg), while those between 2 and 19 full tablet (400 mg). The programme will be implemented through ASHA workers, anganwadi staff, and ANMs in primary and upper primary schools, and through male and female health supervisors in high schools, residential schools, ashram schools, model schools, KGBVs, gurukuls, minority institutions, intermediate colleges, and degree colleges. The tablets will be given after lunch. Teachers, cooks, and staff will be given the tablets first, followed by the students. For those absent on August 12, a 'Mop-up Day' will be conducted on August 20 to ensure complete coverage. The initiative will be monitored at the primary health centre (PHC) level by medical officers and at the mandal level by Mandal Education Officers and CDPOs (Anganwadi Project Officers). Departments including Education, Medical and Health, Women and Child Welfare, Rural Development, Zilla Parishad, Municipal Commissioners, Welfare Hostel authorities, and other concerned officials will participate to ensure 100 per cent implementation of the programme, she added.

"TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" Screening Drive Conducted in Jogulamba Gadwal District
Jogulamba Gadwal: As part of the nationwide "TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan" (Tuberculosis-Free India Campaign), a special screening and awareness program was conducted today at the District Tuberculosis Control Office under the direction of District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Dr. S.K. Siddappa and under the supervision of Dr. G. Raju, District TB Program Officer. Objective of the Program: The campaign focused on screening individuals from high-risk populations for tuberculosis and related health issues. The initiative aims to identify TB cases early and ensure timely treatment and care, contributing to the Government of India's mission to eliminate TB by 2025. 🌾 Targeted High-Risk Groups Screened: Screening was conducted for the following categories: 1. Individuals aged above 60 years 2. Underweight individuals 3. Smokers and alcohol consumers 4. Individuals with a history of TB 5. People living in high-risk areas, especially those with hypertension and diabetes. Health Services Provided: As part of the screening, the following diagnostic and health check-up services were offered: Cy-TB Test Chest X-Ray TB Sputum Test Blood Pressure Check Blood Tests These tests aim to detect not only active or latent TB infections but also assess general health conditions that may contribute to the vulnerability of individuals to TB. The health department plans to conduct similar outreach and screening programs in other mandals in the coming weeks.

City leads in Ayushman Vay Vandan scheme
Kanpur: Kanpur Nagar has emerged as a frontrunner in implementing the Prime Minister Ayushman Vay Vandan scheme, with around 61,000 senior citizens aged 70 and above receiving Ayushman cards in the past six months. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Describing the scheme as a 'revolutionary step in health conservation', district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh said it offers critical health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh to senior citizens, enabling access to free treatment for serious ailments. A total of 228 hospitals in the district have been empanelled under the scheme to provide cashless treatment. "The scheme is a major relief for the elderly who are often denied insurance coverage or are subjected to stringent conditions by private insurance companies," Singh said. "Now, diseases such as heart ailments, cancer, kidney failure, and stroke are being treated free of cost under this initiative." The DM reiterated that the scheme does not require any income certificate or ration card. "Any Indian citizen aged 70 or above is eligible. Only an Aadhaar card is needed to avail the benefit," the DM said, adding that the scheme also ensures portability, allowing beneficiaries to avail treatment anywhere in the country. Treatment covered under the Ayushman card includes heart surgeries like bypass and valve replacement, pacemaker implants, cancer therapies including chemotherapy and radiotherapy, brain tumour and stroke care, neurosurgeries, dialysis, orthopaedic and ENT surgeries, among others. "Our goal is to ensure that no eligible elderly citizen is left out," Singh said.
