JD Vance sparks MAGA meltdown with hot take about Star Wars

Daily Mail05-05-2025
Vice President JD Vance shocked the MAGA universe on Monday by posting an unconventional Star Wars take about George Lucas's prequel trilogy.
'The prequels were underrated,' Vance wrote in response to a post on X from MAGA influencer Jack Posobiec declaring the prequel trilogy suck.
'The prequels suck because they were poorly made by George Lucas who only had a small role in the original series,' Posobiec wrote. 'The sequels suck because they are abominations made by Disney committees and JJ Abrams simps.'
George Lucas' prequel trilogy that began with Episode 1: The Phantom Menace remains contested by Star Wars fans who felt they fell short of the standard set by the original space trilogy.
'Is that what you will say when you are running for president in 2028?,' wrote Ed Krassenstein in response to Vance, suggesting it was a controversial take that could cost him votes.
'JD NO DELETE THIS, L TAKE,' wrote author Jon Del Arroz on X.
'I'm now reevaluating everything I thought about you, because of this L take,' wrote Stephen Albright on X.
Others seemingly endorsed Vance's take.
'Based take by the future President of the US! Episode 3 is better than anything Disney has made by a long shot. It's right up there with the originals,' wrote Hank Rearden.
'The Star Wars Prequels are on the same level as the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and I'm tired of pretending they're not,' wrote author Joshua Lisec.
'Totally agree, JD! Prequels are a gem!,' wrote Jake Summers.
Some indicated that the Star Wars sequels were so bad they made the prequels better by comparison.
'I mean, the sequels had basically George Lucas on my shoulder whispering 'miss me yet?'' wrote Mario Hachemer on X
Prequels aged like wine thanks to the sequels,' wrote Shawn Farash
Vance's Star Wars take extended the conversation from 'May the Fourth' themed content that was sparked on Sunday after the White House posted an AI generated image of Trump wielding an orange lightsaber.
May the 4th has evolved over the years into Star Wars Day, as it sounds similar to the film characteristic greeting, 'May the force be with you.'
'Happy May the 4th to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting so hard to to bring Sith Lords, Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, & well known MS-13 Gang Members, back into our Galaxy. You're not the Rebellion—you're the Empire,' the White House main social media account read. 'May the 4th be with you.'
The White House post triggered a host of critics who thought the lightsaber was red, which would indicate that Trump was a member of the evil Sith lords.
If Trump carries a red lightsaber, that means he's part of the Sith and is evil. Fitting!,' wrote Democratic influencer Harry Sisson in reaction to the image.

Families and MAGA-world outraged after school district suspends boys for bullying transgender student

Parents, MAGA-world and the Virginia Attorney General are fuming after two students were suspended after they said they were 'uncomfortable' with a transgender student in the boys' locker room. The boys were suspended for ten days from Stone Bridge High School after a student, who was born female but identifies as a boy, filmed the boys expressing discomfort when he entered the boys' locker room, 7News first reported. The incident occurred in March, but the video was made public in May. The school district — Loudoun County Public Schools — launched a Title IX investigation, finding the boys responsible for sexual harassment and sex-based discrimination, a lawyer representing them told the outlet. 'There's a girl in here?' one boy asks in the video, prompting another to chime in: 'Why is there a girl? I'm so uncomfortable there is a girl.' A boy then insists the student leave. Parents and state officials alike are outraged over the suspension and spoke to the press about their concerns. Virginia Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears attended the news conference and told the crowd: 'It is time for the insanity to stop. It is time for everyone to recognize what is settled truth: girls are girls and boys are boys.' Parents of the suspended students have seethed at the investigation and subsequent suspensions. "I would say the first reaction was some anger, because we're just really concerned with all this stuff," Seth Wolfe, one of the parents, told 7News this week. He added he was "saddened by the decision-making process and how that went." Renae Smith, another parent, similarly said she was "absolutely floored that they came back and branded my son responsible for sexual harassment and sex based discrimination with no solid evidence whatsoever." The parent told the outlet: "We're talking about scarring him for life by a biased process that's supposed to protect fairness, but it's shocking. It's wrong, and it should terrify every single parent." Both parents voiced their concerns about the school district's contentious Policy 8040: Rights of Transgender and Gender-Expansive Students, which the school board approved in 2021. The policy addresses locker rooms, stating: "Students should be allowed to use the facility that corresponds to their consistently asserted gender identity." A spokesperson for the school district told The Independent in a statement that it does not publicly discuss private student matters, but noted: "At no time would LCPS suspend a student simply because they expressed some kind of discomfort. A reading of our Title IX resources should make it clear that there is a high bar to launch a Title IX investigation and an even higher bar to determine a student is in violation of Title IX." State and federal officials have joined Republican commentators in denouncing the school district's move. "This is very wrong — and it WILL NOT STAND !" Harmeet Dhillon, the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice, wrote on her personal X account Monday. Attorney and conservative commentator Marina Medvin similarly bashed: "Virginia: Loudoun County Public School punished two boys for voicing their discomfort with having a girl use the boys' locker room and video record them on her phone, suspending them at the start of the new school year." Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares told Fox5 in June that he referred the school district to federal authorities. "What we have found is Loudoun County Public Schools have both bad policy and bad judgment," he said. Miyares said the school improperly targeted the boys not for misconduct, but for wanting the student to leave the locker room because they felt uncomfortable. "This would have never been even debatable 15 years ago. If I had told you we'd be even having this discussion, you would have thought it was from another planet,' he continued. 'Right now these three boys, just for voicing common sense, are now the victim of the full-weight, possible expulsion, just because they voiced their concerns." The majority of the two-minute video shows a black screen, as the phone is seemingly in the transgender student's pocket. The student then points the camera at the boys, who are fully clothed, for the last 20 seconds after they express their discomfort. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office was considering charges against the student who filmed the boys. Since the boys in the video 'were not in a state of undress or in any other situation that would've been an explicit violation of law, there was no potential charge,' a sheriff's office spokesperson told The Independent. Virginia state Delegate Terry Kilgore, a Republican, also bashed the school district's decision. "Calling a biological girl a girl isn't harassment. Neither is speaking up when a girl walks into the boys' locker room,' he said in a statement Wednesday. "Yet the far-left leadership of Loudoun County Public Schools tried to brand these three young men as harassers — and suspend them for 10 days - for doing exactly that. That's not just wrong, It's an injustice committed in the name of radical ideology.'

Has Elon Musk abandoned his plans for an America Party?

Elon Musk is said to be reconsidering his plans to launch a new political party due to fear of antagonising Republican leaders. The billionaire announced his intention to form the 'America Party' last month after leaving his role as White House adviser and entering a war of words with President Trump over his One Big Beautiful Bill. However, he has cooled on the idea and privately said he wants to focus on running his companies Tesla and SpaceX, according to The Wall Street Journal. Sources told the newspaper that Musk had acknowledged a new party would damage relations with senior Republicans including JD Vance, the vice-president. Musk is considering backing Vance if he decides to run for president in 2028, they added. Musk denied the claims in a post on X, saying nothing the Journal reported 'should ever be thought of as true'. The billionaire was the largest donor in the 2024 election, giving nearly $300 million to Trump and Republican candidates. He served as a senior adviser to Trump, leading the Department of Government Efficiency, for four months until exiting in late May. The pair held a friendly press conference on Musk's final day, vowing to continue their work together. Within days the relationship turned acrimonious as Musk derided Trump's flagship package of tax cuts and border-security funding, calling it a 'disgusting abomination'. He also pledged to 'fire all politicians' who voted for the bill. On July 5 Musk declared his intention of launching a new party, citing the results of a poll he had posted on X. 'By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it,' he wrote. 'When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste and graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.' Trump, who has publicly been relaxed about its electoral prospects, responded with a Truth Social post. 'I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely 'off the rails,' essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks. He even wants to start a third political party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States,' he wrote. Musk said the party would 'laser-focus' on a small number of seats in the midterm elections next November. He suggested this could be two or three Senate seats and eight to ten House districts, adding: 'Given the razor-thin legislative margins, that would be enough to serve as the deciding vote on contentious laws, ensuring that they serve the true will of the people.' Musk's associates cancelled a call with a group specialising in third-party campaigns in late July, the Journal reported, but the America Party plan has yet to be officially called off. Vance acknowledged that Musk had a 'complicated relationship' with the White House in an interview on August 9, telling The Gateway Pundit: 'I don't know that he would take my call right now … I kid. I'm sure he would take my call, but honestly, the drama around him and the White House over the last couple of months — my hope is that it just kinda cools down a bit. 'If you're patriotic, you're not trying to sink your knife in the back of the president, you're not trying to betray the movement.'

Friends star Lisa Kudrow goes viral over Karoline Leavitt impression

Lisa Kudrow had fans in stitches after her appearance in 2020 political mockumentary resurfaced on social media in recent days. The 62-year-old Friends star went viral after a clip in which she parodies a right-wing 'non-official spokesperson' for President Donald Trump's MAGA movement started making the rounds again on social media. The clip was from the Netflix special Death To 2020 , which was produced by Black Mirror creator Charlie Booker — who also wrote the film — and his regular collaborator Annabel Jones. On X (formerly Twitter ), commenters — many of whom appeared to have liberal politics — were simultaneously delighted and infuriated by what they saw as similarities between Kudrow's over-the-top defenses of the first Trump administration's scandals and the real flak that Trump's current White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, deflects on a daily basis. They praised her 'perfect impersonation' of an influential MAGA figure in the replies, with many users finding major parallels between her and real-life right-wing figures over their allegedly slippery grasp of the truth. Kudrow's spokeswoman, the fictional Jeanetta Grace Susan, was seen in a clip seemingly meant to take place in Washington, DC, as she defended Trump against his multiple impeachments. 'The whole impeachment thing was baseless, OK,' Kudrow says in character. 'So the Democrats claim that Trump pressured Ukraine into digging up dirt on the Biden family and their only real "evidence" of that is the transcript of him doing it,' she adds on a particularly ridiculous note as documents referencing Trump's attempts to get Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to investigate Joe Biden ahead of the 2020 election. Kudrow digs in shamelessly when the unseen British interviewer asked her to say more about the 'transcript' she had mentioned. 'What transcript?' she replies. When the interviewer reminders her that she just mentioned a transcript, she shoots back, 'Check your tape. I said no such thing.' Then Kudrow scoffs as the interviewer began reading back what she had just said about Ukraine, before doubling down and interjecting, 'There's no such place as Ukraine.' 'Yes, there is,' he replies in shock, but the spokeswoman shoots back, 'I choose to believe there is not.' Several viewers in the replies saw in Kudrow a shocking resemblance to Leavitt, both physically and in her defensive tone, though Leavitt wasn't working as the White House Press Secretary until the second Trump administration, years after the Netflix special was released. 'This is GREAT! Kudrow perfectly captured the Karoline Leavitt person — right down to the long bond hair and vapid smile,' wrote one user who felt there was a strong similarity. One viewer praised the clip as 'freaking awesome' and said that Kudrow's performance as a fake PR specialist was 'probably the best thing I've seen since Tina Fey did Sarah Palin' on Saturday Night Live. Other posters praised the clip as 'brilliant,' 'on point' and 'perfect.' One user complained that Americans were forced to 'literally listen to this everyday.' 'MAGA believe and stake their lives on memes, but call any reporting or data into question and often see document records as a compelling reason to believe the opposite of what they indicate,' they added.
