Jordan welcomes first group of Gazan children for treatment
The first group of sick children from Gaza arrived in Jordan today through Marka Airport as part of the "Jordanian Medical Corridor – Gaza" initiative, which aims to evacuate 2,000 children from Gaza for medical treatment in Jordanian hospitals.
Accompanied by their family members, the children were transported through special arrangements made by the Jordanian authorities.
This operation represents a key step in providing life-saving medical care to those affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
Upon arrival, the group was greeted by medical and government officials who ensured a smooth transition to designated hospitals across the country. The children will receive necessary care at both public and private hospitals, where specialized medical teams are ready to assist.
Additionally, 26 children will arrive by land, and 4 children have already arrived by air.
Minister of Government Communication Mohammad Al-Momani confirmed that the Kingdom has begun receiving children from Gaza who are suffering from various illnesses to receive treatment in Jordanian hospitals. He also mentioned that another group will arrive by land soon.
The Minister reiterated Jordan's firm position, as declared by His Majesty the King in Washington, rejecting any attempts to displace Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza Strip. He emphasized Jordan's commitment to protecting Palestinian rights and supporting their steadfastness.
This evacuation marks the beginning of a phased process, with more groups expected in the coming days. Launched under royal directives, the initiative underscores Jordan's commitment to supporting Gaza and providing vital humanitarian aid during this critical time.

He emphasized that families in Gaza have not celebrated Eid al-Adha for two consecutive years and that mothers often go two days without eating in order to provide a single meal for their children. Elder noted that estimating the number of children dying from hunger on a daily or weekly basis is extremely difficult under such conditions. However, he stressed that children suffering from malnutrition are dying from simple, treatable causes. The spokesperson added that acute malnutrition increases the likelihood of a child dying from basic issues—such as food shortages, contaminated water, and the lack of essential healthcare—by tenfold. He warned that reaching hospitals is no longer safe for sick or malnourished children, and that the hospitals themselves lack basic medical supplies. It is worth noting that only 19 hospitals are currently operating partially in Gaza, in addition to 9 functioning field hospitals.

At least 60 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) while trying to access humanitarian aid in Gaza, according to the territory's health ministry. The majority of the casualties occurred Wednesday near a food distribution center operated by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) in the Netzarim area of central Gaza. Witnesses and officials say 'Israeli' troops opened fire as starving residents gathered for aid, killing at least 25 and injuring dozens more. A total of 57 children and 113 family members have been medically evacuated by land and air to Jordan since the medical corridor initiative was launched. The Jordan Medical Corridor initiative was launched in March this year upon Royal directives, with the goal of providing treatment for Gazan children at Jordanian hospitals.
