At least 1,760 Palestinian aid seekers killed in Gaza since May, says UN
AFP reported that this marks a rise of several hundred since the last published figure at the beginning of August.
"Since 27 May, and as of 13 August, we have recorded that at least 1,760 Palestinians have been killed while seeking aid; 994 in the vicinity of GHF [Gaza Humanitarian Foundation] sites and 766 along the routes of supply convoys. Most of these killings were committed by the Israeli military," the agency's office for Palestinian territories said in a statement.
Israeli forces have killed 61,827 Palestinians and wounded 155,275 others since October 2023, the Palestinian health ministry has said.
The ministry also reported the death of a child due to the Israeli-imposed aid blockade. The latest casualty brings the death toll from starvation to 240, including 107 children.
Israel has enforced a near-total blockade of aid on Gaza, leading to severe shortages of food and essential medical supplies.

Palestinian woman from Gaza dies of malnutrition after being evacuated to Italy
A young Palestinian woman flown from Gaza to an Italian hospital in a severely emaciated state for treatment has died, the hospital said Saturday. The 20-year-old, identified by Italian media reports as Marah Abu Zuhri, arrived in Pisa on an Italian government humanitarian flight overnight between Wednesday and Thursday. The University Hospital of Pisa said she had a "very complex clinical picture" and was suffering from severe wasting, a condition marked by extreme weight and muscle loss. Death toll of Palestinians from starvation rises to 251
The death toll from Israeli-imposed starvation in the Gaza Strip has risen to 251, including 108 children, according to the Palestinian health officials. They said that "Gaza hospitals recorded 11 deaths within 24 hours, including a child, due to acute malnutrition."
