Wednesday, May 7 forecast: Periods of rain today and tomorrow
Rain showers held off until late yesterday, and more rain showers are expected at times today and again on Thursday. This rainy weather stretch is thanks to a slow-moving storm system that will swirl through the region over the next few days.

Scattered rain showers and an isolated thunderstorm will continue off and on this morning. The focus for showery activity should shift to Central and Southeast Missouri this afternoon. A few thunderstorms may be able to develop late in the afternoon across Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas. Peaks of sunshine may raise instability enough in these areas to get a storm to produce a little hail and wind.
Scattered showers become isolated tonight and will remain thin in coverage on Thursday. A few heavier, brief downpours are possible on Thursday, and like before, the severe weather risk is very low.
The heaviest rain totals will fall in Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas through Thursday. Amounts of 1″ or more may be common in these areas. Elsewhere, rainfall amounts will be scattered and lower between 0.25″ and 0.50″.
Drier air will work in by Friday, shutting off rain and clearing out clouds. Rain may be slow to clear out south of Hwy. 60 Thursday night, but should gradually shift out of the area Friday morning. This will pave the way to what should be a nice Mother's Day weekend.
A reborn form of this week's storm may pay us a visit early next week, slinging clouds and a risk of showers our way Monday. Warm and mostly dry weather will follow for Tuesday through Thursday. Highs will likely be in the 80s, with the overnights also getting warmer. A risk of stronger storms is still on the table for the end of next week.

Scattered rain and heat expected in Acadiana this week
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – After a humid start to the day, temperatures warm quickly through the day reaching the lower 90s in the afternoon. A few storms will develop, but much of the area will stay rain-free today. Tonight, any rain comes to an end as temperatures settle in the 70s. Sunday will see similar conditions around the area with hot temperatures in the afternoon but there will be a better rain chances. Showers and storms should be more scattered in nature allowing for some cooling effects for Acadiana. In the tropics, dry air and wind shear continue to prevent any tropical development and no tropical activity is expected through the next 7 days. Locally, we will be watching an increase in rain chances next week as a weak cold front settles across the area. This will lead to widespread daily storm chances with some heavier rainfall possible towards midweek. Flooded in Butler County? Here's how to report damage
BUTLER COUNTY, Kan. (KSNW) — Officials in Butler County and the City of El Dorado are asking residents and businesses impacted by recent flooding to report damages and request help for any unmet needs. Emergency management teams have been conducting on-the-ground assessments in flood-affected areas this week, but say they want to ensure no one is being overlooked—especially those who may need help beyond what insurance can cover. Thousands of I-135 drivers affected with Wichita closure this weekend Unmet needs may include cleaning out flooded basements, removing damaged carpets or drywall, and hauling away debris. Officials say identifying those needs now could help connect affected residents with disaster relief organizations or donors willing to assist. To streamline the process, the county has created two ways for people to report their damages: Online Form: Residents can complete an online form, which includes details and photos of the damage. Access the form here. By Phone: Residents can also call United Way's 2-1-1 line to report damage. Operators are available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Officials say that immediate responses may not be possible, but all reports will be reviewed and used to coordinate possible assistance. Staying muggy with some showers today
Typical Saturday–clouds and showers! It is a dry, albeit muggy start with patchy fog. We will see showers develop later this morning and continue through the afternoon. This will definitely affect some outdoor plans, so my apologies in advance. It will be cooler, but still humid with highs in the low 70s. At least Sunday will be drier! I don't think we'll see a lot of sunshine tomorrow since the clouds will drag their heels, but there will be some breaks and blue sky with lower humidity. I've introduced a few showers into the forecast for Monday. And of course, we are still tracking some afternoon thundershowers on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday look like the best days of the week! Today: Cloudy with showers/storms developing late morning. Cooler, still humid. Highs in the low 70s. Tonight: Mostly cloudy with patchy fog. Lows near 60°. Sunday: Partial sun.
