Manchester United fans' group postpones protest against owners
The 1958 had organised a protest march to Old Trafford on August 17, ahead of United's clash with Arsenal, with banners referring to minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
The 1958 has overseen numerous demonstrations in recent years, principally aimed at unpopular majority shareholders the Glazers, but frustration has now spread to Ratcliffe.

The billionaire British businessman, who owns a 28.94 per cent stake in United, has instigated wide – often unpopular – changes since taking over day-to-day operational control from the Glazers in February 2024.
'Jim Ratcliffe chose to get into bed with the Glazers and, in our opinion, is helping keep them in charge,' said a group representative, who added Ratcliffe was 'no saviour' and 'like a (red) devil in disguise,' last week.
However, after conducting a survey, the group has acknowledged opinion is split and the time is not right for a protest.
A statement read: 'With a fanbase as diverse and passionate as ours, finding the right balance isn't always easy. We've had to consider momentum, timing, fan appetite, broader consequences of protest activity whilst assessing how current and future decisions may impact us as fans.
'Given the current sentiment within the fanbase and particularly in light of these recent survey results, it's clear there is no unified view on the direction of the club under Ratcliffe.
'That split is real, and we believe it would be irresponsible to risk creating a situation that could result in any 'red on red' conflict inside or outside the stadium.'
The group say almost 63 per cent of the near 26,000 respondents to their survey said Ratcliffe and his Ineos company should be held to account for their decisions so far by means of a protest. However, 68 per cent also believed they should be given more time.

But, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sancho has rejected a reunion with former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in Turkey. The 25-year-old is believed to be holding out for a move to Italy and has therefore rejected Besiktas' advances, though his stance may change if he is still searching for a new club as the transfer deadline approaches. Manchester United are hoping to sell Sancho for around £20m, which would represent a massive loss on a player they signed for £73m in 2021. Ex-Old Trafford striker Teddy Sheringham believes Sancho's hopes of joining another 'big club' are slim following his recent struggles. The best moments of Sancho's career came across two spells at Borussia Dortmund but the Bundesliga club have ruled out another move this summer. Sancho did help Chelsea qualify for the Champions League and win the Conference League last season but his individual performances were largely underwhelming. 'Jadon Sancho will definitely not play for a big club ever again,' United hero Sheringham told Snabbare. 'He will probably tell you that he can and he will but not for me. 'I see that he's burned his bridges with the manager. He's not even got a place in the changing room. 'Maybe if he'd be given another chance he could work for what Amorim wants but I know from experience once you've gone down that path of being unhappy and wanting out that it's very hard to turn it around with the manager, with the supporters, with the other players. 'You've got to show an unbelievable mental desire to turn that around. It can be done, and I know he's a talented lad, but I would be very, very surprised if that was the case now.' Sancho is not the only member of Amorim's 'bomb squad' this summer, with United also hoping to sell Alejandro Garnacho and Antony. Rasmus Hojlund, meanwhile, is free to leave following the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. AC Milan are interested in the Denmark international. Hojlund has spent two underwhelming seasons at Old Trafford but Sheringham sympathises with the 22-year-old. 'I like his battling qualities, his endeavour and his desire,' Sheringham added. If he was missing four chances a game, you'd look at him and go, how can he still carry on playing? 'But he's not. He's having one chance every three games and snatching at it and not scoring. I think it's harsh to criticise him given the way that Manchester United play.' Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard warned he could be replaced by £68m target
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has been warned he could be replaced by Mikel Arteta's £68m transfer target Eberechi Eze. The Gunners are interested in signing England international Eze from Crystal Palace before the summer transfer window closes. Eze has been one of the most exciting players in the Premier League in recent years and helped Palace win the FA Cup last season. The 27-year-old has earned 11 caps for England since making his international debut in 2023 and featured for the Three Lions at last summer's Euros. In general, I will speak about my own players.' 'Even in pre-season he hasn't looked anywhere near the Odegaard we saw a couple of years ago. Mikel Arteta lands surprise new role alongside Arsenal position
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has vowed to help 'disrupt the game at the top level' after landing a surprise new role with a sportswear company. Arteta has been appointed global ambassador and direct of performance at Under Armour, with the Spaniard to work in the position alongside his role at the Gunners. The company said Arteta, 43, would provide guidance on product development, talent identification and leadership. He will also 'bring elite leadership, tactical insight and a relentless drive for performance to the brand's global vision', they said. 'The collaboration with Under Armour is the perfect opportunity for me to work with a partner committed to making young athletes better,' Arteta said. 'I'm passionate about providing a platform for the next generation of players coming through in football and the top level of talent already signed with the brand show that they are too. 'We share the same mentality in always striving for more by finding new ways to innovate and disrupt the game at the top level. Our values in pursuing greatness are closely aligned and together, I'm confident we're going to achieve great things in football.' The announcement comes just days ahead of the new Premier League season. Arteta's side will aim to go one better than their second place in the previous three campaigns. They begin the 2025-26 season with a visit to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on Sunday. Arsenal have splurged £208million on revamping Arteta's squad, including the £64m signing of highly-rated striker Viktor Gyokeres.
