FA Cup: NSFC Beat PDRM 5-0, Kelantan TRW Down KL City 3-1

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) are likely to advance to the quarterfinal stage of the 2025 FA Cup after they beat PDRM FC 5-0 in the first leg of the Round of 16 at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi tonight. NSFC showed their dominance by scoring in the first minute courtesy of a free kick by Jovan Motika from outside the penalty box and things got better when PDRM FC were forced to play with only 10 men when Agbre Noel received a red card for a foul on Joseph Esso in the ninth minute. Even with the one player advantage, the home team would have to wait till nearly the end of the first half to score their second goal through Motika in the 40th minute, and then a third by Esso just before the half time whistle blew.

Kuching dart competition unites generations in National Month celebration

THE War's 15 Petrajaya Dart Club has added a unique touch to National Month celebrations for nine years with its annual dart competition. Ahmad Tarmizi Hamdi, the club's chairman, shared that the event began in 2017 and has since become a staple in August. He explained that the competition was designed to diversify National Month activities while engaging all age groups. 'It also serves as a medium to foster unity compared to the conventional events before this,' he said. The Merdeka Double Dart Challenge 2025 finals drew over 150 participants in Kuching yesterday. Initially, the competition was limited to local clubs and small communities before expanding with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Sports clubs from Kuching, Sibu, Mukah, and Miri also contributed through promotions and logistics. This year's event saw participants ranging from 12 to 78 years old, highlighting darts' intergenerational appeal. Ahmad Tarmizi noted that the competition helps promote darts beyond Kuching to other districts. 'Prizes and entry fees were also adjusted to encourage more participants,' he added. Jaafar Bujang, 78, a retired Customs officer, praised darts for sharpening focus and maintaining health. Firash Zafran Majid, 12, expressed excitement about testing his skills in his first major competition. Team X 11 claimed the Gold Doubles title, winning RM2,000, while 13 Dart Madshot triumphed in the Silver Doubles category. - Bernama

LTdL: Two Former TSG Riders To Lead Burgos-Burpellet BH Challenge

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Two former experienced riders will be the key weapons for Spanish ProTeam Burgos-Burpellet BH in the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) 2025, scheduled to take place from Sept 28 to Oct 5. In a statement today, the team, making their fourth consecutive appearance, announced their line-up featuring two former Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) riders, Merhawi Kudus and Jambaljamts Sainbayar, alongside last year's King of the Mountains polka dot jersey winner, Mario Aparicio Munoz. The other three riders are David Martin, Georgios Bonglas and Jose Manuel Diaz Gallego, all of whom have previously competed in the LTdL. bootstrap slideshow LTdL25 Chief Operating Officer, Emir Abdul Jalal said based on the list of six riders, the team is expected to be chasing at least three titles in the eight-stage race. 'This time Burgos' strength lies in the climbing stages, and with four climbers, it will be exciting to see their tactics each day, particularly with Kudus, Sainbayar and Aparicio on the hilly routes,' he said. 'With all their experience and knowledge of the routes, coupled with the unpredictable weather in this country, Burgos are seen to have their own strengths throughout the eight days of competition,' he added. Kudus, 31, who donned the TSG jersey last year, rose to prominence after joining MTN-Qhubeka in 2014, finishing second overall in the LTdL that year. During his four years with Qhubeka, his talent earned him spots with WorldTeams Astana (2019-2021) and EF Education (2022-2023), where he competed in the Giro d'Italia (twice), Tour de France (once) and Vuelta a España (six times). Sainbayar, 31, also a respected climber, rode with TSG for three years (2021-2023) and finished ninth overall in the 2022 edition, achieving numerous victories across Asia before joining Burgos last year as Mongolia's national champion.
