Yashasvi Jaiswal
came under fire during the first Test against England despite scoring a century in the first innings. His fielding display, dropping four catches across both innings, left many fans upset as it accounted for 165 runs more for England batters.
The young batter then faced mocking from England fans at Headingley as they jokingly celebrated each time Jaiswal fielded successfully. In the video that surfaced online after the conclusion of the first of five Tests in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, the left-hander can be seen casually dancing and smiling as England neared the 371-run target.

Ben Duckett, who was one of the players who survived courtesy Jaiswal's misgivings in the field, led the charge in the chase with 149 runs.
Zak Crawley's 65 runs added to the damage as well. A middle-order stutter gave India hope, but Joe Root (53)* and debutant Jamie Smith (44)* closed out the match with an unbeaten 71-run partnership.

"Catches do get dropped. The best fielders have missed catches. None of them did it on purpose," India coach Gautam Gambhir told reporters in the post-match press conference.
Shubman Gill didn't have a positive start to his reign as India Test captain.
He said the dropped catches and batting collapses were not the main reason they lost.
"A brilliant Test, we had our chances. Dropped catches, lower order not contributing cost us," he said in the post-match presentation.
"Yesterday, we were thinking of giving them 430, but our last wickets fell for 25," Gill noted.

"Even today, I thought we had our chances after the brilliant first wicket. Didn't go to hand."
"We spoke about the first-innings collapse. Happens, we have to rectify that going forward. Chances don't come easy on wickets like this, but we have a young team. Learning one. Hope to improve that."

Duleep Trophy: After Ishan Kishan, Star Pacer To Also Miss East Zones Quarterfinals Clash

India pacer Akash Deep and wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan have been ruled out of East Zone's Duleep Trophy quarterfinals against North Zone as both continue to recover from their respective injuries. Kishan was out of contention as a replacement for the injured Rishabh Pant ahead of the fifth and final Test against England at The Oval due to a left ankle injury that required stitches after falling off a bike. As a result, Tamil Nadu's N Jagadeesan was flown in as Pant's replacement. Though Kishan has been at BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, it is understood that he has been advised more rest, keeping in mind that India 'A' are also due to host Australia 'A' for two four-day games and three 50-over games next month. In Kishan's absence, Bengal opener Abhimanyu Easwaran, who didn't get a game on India's five-match Test tour of England, will captain East Zone while all-rounder Riyan Parag will serve as the side's vice-captain. Odisha's Aashirwad Swain comes in as Kishan's replacement in the squad, while Jharkhand's Kumar Kushagra will become the first-choice wicketkeeper-batter. When asked about his quarterbacks, the Atlanta Falcons head coach simply said, 'Michael Penix Jr. won't get out there and Kirk Cousins won't get out there.' That one line said a lot. Just a few hours later, former Seattle Sea Dragons quarterback Ben DiNucci announced, 'I signed with the Falcons this morning,' while speaking with local media at the team facility. Raheem Morris sits Michael Penix Jr. and Kirk Cousins and adds Ben DiNucci for Cowboys clash Including the final preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday, August 24, 2025, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Raheem Morris has decided to keep Michael Penix Jr. and Kirk Cousins out of all three preseason games thus far. This implies Easton Stick and Ben DiNucci are the sole two quarterbacks ready for the Cowboys contest. Officially concluding his brief visit in Atlanta, the Falcons cut DJ Chark on Saturday, August 17, 2025 to make room for Ben DiNucci. On the same day, the team also waived Emory Jones with an injury tag. Ben DiNucci most recently played in the 2023 XFL season, throwing 2,671 passing yards and 23 touchdowns for the Seattle Sea Dragons. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 15 Most Beautiful Women Ever The Noodle Box Undo Back in April 2025, Falcons assistant general manager Kyle Smith said, 'We always have open discussions about Kirk Cousins if the right opportunity comes up,' making it clear that the team could explore trade options during the season.
