US FBI Director Kash Patel Extends Wishes To India On Independence Day
FBI Director Kash Patel and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio extend Independence Day greetings to India.
US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel on Friday extended greetings to India on its 79th Independence Day. Patel posted a reply on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's X post on Independence day celebrations, saying, 'Happy Independence Day India."

Earlier today, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also wished the country, saying that the 'historic relationship" between the two countries is consequential and far-reaching, and pledged to work together to address modern challenges.
'On behalf of the United States, I extend our congratulations and warm wishes to the people of India as they celebrate their Independence Day on August 15," he said.
'The historic relationship between the world's largest democracy and the world's oldest democracy is consequential and far-reaching. Our two countries are united by our shared vision for a more peaceful, prosperous, and secure Indo-Pacific region. Our partnership spans industries, promotes innovation, pushes the boundaries of critical and emerging technologies, and extends into space," he added.
India is celebrating its 79th Independence Day on today with full patriotic fervour. The day commemorates the nation's freedom from over 200 years of British colonial rule, which finally came to an end in 1947.
Who Is Kash Patel?
Kash Patel, a staunch Trump loyalist, has a background in both defence and intelligence. Born in 1980 in Garden City, New York, to Gujarati Indian immigrant parents, Patel's career has been closely tied to Trump's political rise.
After completing his law degree at Pace University, Patel initially struggled to land a prestigious law firm job. Instead, he spent nearly nine years as a public defender before joining the US Justice Department.
Patel soon gained national attention for his role in the committee's investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election. He was instrumental in drafting the controversial 'Nunes Memo," which accused the FBI of abusing surveillance powers in its investigation into the Trump campaign.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, in her maiden Independence Day speech on Friday, pledged to rejuvenate the Yamuna and assured people that her government would develop world-class infrastructure. During the event at the Chhatrasal Stadium amid a heavy downpour, she announced that her government would form a welfare board for gig workers to ensure their wellbeing. She stressed that her government was working to address the issue of waterlogging and better roads. "I pledge to rejuvenate the Yamuna. Our government is working from day one to clean it. Several promises were made to clean the Yamuna, but little was achieved. Yamuna will be clean to an extent that we will be able to see the Sun's reflection in its waters, and we will be able to perform veneration on its banks," the chief minister added. Assuring people that Delhi would soon be the city of dreams, she said the BJP government was committed to providing Delhi with an infrastructure that is the best in the country. Highlighting the achievements of her government, Gupta said it recently passed a bill to regulate fees of private schools as she stressed that "we are the custodians of the pockets of parents". The chief minister emphasised that her government had promised to provide the highest rewards to medal winners in the Olympics and Commonwealth Games. "For the first time, we will ensure job security for the youth who contribute to the growth and development of sports in Delhi," she added. In the nearly half-an-hour-long speech, Gupta said the Delhi government will provide a pucca house to every slum resident in the capital and will also open Atal Canteens to provide food to the needy at Rs 5.

Army leads rescue operations after cloudburst in J&K's Kishtwar

On Friday, Abdullah confirmed that 60 bodies had been recovered so far, while the number of missing people was still being verified. 'Around 60 bodies have been found. The number of missing persons is being assessed. After the rescue and relief operation concludes, we will inquire whether the administration could have taken any preventive steps when the MeT department had issued a warning and also advised people not to venture out if not needed. The rescue operation by the army, NDRF, SDRF, police, and administration is underway. Workers of different political parties are also working on the ground,' Omar Abdullah told reporters. Union minister Jitendra Singh also reached Chasoti late on Friday evening to take stock of the situation. Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force has been put on standby to support the operations. Two Mi-17 helicopters and an advanced light helicopter have been kept ready at Jammu and Udhampur for deployment if needed. Earlier, in his Independence Day address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed solidarity with those affected by natural disasters across the country. 'Nature is testing the past few days, we have been facing natural disasters, landslides, cloudbursts, and many other calamities. Our sympathies are with the affected people,' he said from Red Fort.

He described the dual governance system as structured 'not for success' but 'for failure' and, for the first time, addressed his government's decisions that remain stalled with the Raj Bhavan. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Manish Tewari wrote, 'I can empathise with Omar Abdullah. As an MP from a Union Territory with just a Municipal Corporation and not even a legislative assembly, unlike Jammu & Kashmir, Puducherry, or even the NCT of Delhi, this system of diarchy is systemically and structurally built for failure and not success. It is a completely unworkable model of governance.' Is this fair? Why are we being punished for a crime in which we had no role?' he added.
