2.5 Years In Prison For Raul Asencio? Prosecutors Seeks Jail Term For Accused Real Madrid CB: Report

News183 days ago
Spanish prosecutors seek a 2.5-year prison sentence for Real Madrid's Raul Asencio for distributing a minor's sex tape. Asencio denies wrongdoing.
Spanish prosecutors have requested a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence for Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio, who is accused of involvement in the unauthorized distribution of a sex tape involving a minor.
According to The Athletic, the charges stem from an incident in June 2023 during a holiday in the Canary Islands, where several former Real Madrid youth players were allegedly involved in filming a sexual encounter without consent and sharing the footage.
Five players from Real Madrid's youth academy were vacationing at Amadores Beach Club when a sexual encounter allegedly took place between three of the players and two girls — one of whom was under 16, the legal age of consent in Spain.
The footage was allegedly recorded on a mobile phone without the knowledge or consent of the victims. The tape is believed to have later circulated via WhatsApp.
Although Asencio was not involved in the encounter itself, the Public Prosecutor's Office claims that he requested copies of the videos and showed them to a friend.
Under Spanish law, such an action could constitute two offenses against privacy, as defined in Article 197 of the Spanish Criminal Code.
Asencio, now 22, was promoted from Real Madrid Castilla (the club's B team) to the senior squad in November 2023 during a defensive injury crisis. He made 46 appearances across all competitions last season, becoming a regular member of Carlo Ancelotti's matchday squads.
The investigation began after the three players allegedly involved in the recording — Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodríguez, and Andrés García — were arrested in September 2023. Initially, Asencio was called to testify as a witness, but was later included in the Guardia Civil's (Spain's national law enforcement) investigation.
At the time, Real Madrid issued a brief statement: 'A Castilla player and three Real Madrid C players have given statements to the Guardia Civil regarding a complaint about the alleged broadcasting of a private video via WhatsApp. When the club has detailed knowledge of the facts, we will take the appropriate measures."
According to reports from The Athletic, both alleged victims are receiving psychological treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.
The Prosecutor's Office has requested that Asencio pay €5,000 in damages to each victim, in addition to the proposed custodial sentence.
The prosecution is also pursuing prison terms for the three other players involved. The case is currently under judicial review, and no trial date has been set.
In response to the charges, Asencio has strongly denied any wrongdoing and emphasized the importance of the presumption of innocence.
The Spaniard added that he intends to defend his position in court, should the case move forward.
Sources close to the club suggest that Madrid are awaiting further legal clarification before deciding on Asencio's future at the Bernabéu.

Bengaluru teen's murder: Accused driver planned his kidnap, extortion a month earlier

Bengaluru: Part-time driver Gurumurthy, 25, planned the abduction of 13-year-old Nischith A and extorted money from his family at least a month earlier, police said. The main accused got to know financial details about Nischith's family while driving them in the last few months for numerous trips, including a site visit to a property that the boy's grandfather intended to buy. Gurumurthy was assigned as driver for a trip booked by Nischith's mother through a rental driver app a few months ago. He managed to convince her to call him directly in future instead of booking his services through the app. You Can Also Check: Bengaluru AQI | Weather in Bengaluru | Bank Holidays in Bengaluru | Public Holidays in Bengaluru Nischith, the only child of his parents, was part of every trip for which his mother privately booked Gurumurthy. The main accused befriended the class 8 student during these trips and brought him snacks. He was also attracted to the teenager, police said. Gurumurthy was acquitted in a Pocso case, registered in Konankunte police station in 2020, due to hostile witnesses. Two sub-inspectors attached to Hulimavu police station knew details about allegations of child abuse against him. The team led by deputy commissioner of police (Electronics City) M Narayana is verifying whether Gurumurthy killed the boy after sexually assaulting him. Nischith was kidnapped by Gurumurthy when he was returning home from tuition on July 30 and his half-burnt body was found in the dense forest of Bilawaradahalli near Bannerghatta on the evening of July 31. The driver's co-accused Gopi, alias Gopi Krishna, 27, technician with a private cable operator firm, stole the sim card used to make ransom calls to Nischith's parents from an old-age home in Koramangala. Assigned to attend a complaint at the old-age home in the first week of July, Gopi swiped a basic handset belonging to a 75-year-old inmate and gave the sim to Gurumurthy and kept the handset. No complaint of the mobile phone theft was filed by the septuagenarian woman's family. Police said Gopi has no criminal antecedents. Gurumurthy, a journalism course dropout, used the sim to register WhatsApp on a spare mobile phone and then removed it so that it appeared switched off when someone tried to call the number. This account was used by Gurumurthy to make ransom calls and send messages to Nischith's family by using VPN or VoIP on connecting to the internet by converting his own mobile phone connection to a hotspot. Police suspect Gurumurthy learnt about the technology from his elder brother, an assistant security officer at an Indian embassy in West Asia. Gurumurthy, who along with Gopi, was shot at by police in the legs near Bannerghatta on Aug 1, has been shifted to a hospital ward from the ICU. "We'll take the accused into police custody once doctors give their opinion," an officer said.

Citizens face inconvenience as AP Police Seva app down again

1 2 Vijayawada: AP Police Seva mobile application, once a key digital platform for lodging complaints, verifying social media news, and accessing a host of citizen services, is currently non-functional and has been removed from both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The disruption began during the 2024 general elections and marks the second such outage—earlier seen during the arrest of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in September 2023. Launched in September 2020, the app was designed to reduce physical visits to police stations by enabling online complaint registration, tracking case progress, paying challans, and availing other services. It offered 85 features, including requesting home surveillance during absence, background verification for employees or tenants, and real-time updates on public safety. One of its standout components focused on women's safety, offering GPS-enabled alerts about high-risk areas based on geo-tagged crime data. The platform was widely praised for promoting citizen-friendly policing and bridging the gap between the police and the public. The sudden unavailability of the app has forced citizens to revert to traditional methods of police interaction, slowing down grievance redressal and affecting transparency. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like These T-Shirt Fails are Just Too Hilarious Undo Speaking to TOI, CH Srikanth, inspector general of police, technical services, said, "The app is currently being upgraded with new services and is under testing via the Google Play Store. After over two weeks of testing, the app will go live to the public and will also be launched on iOS devices." He added that in the meantime, citizens can access the services previously available on the app through the AP Government's WhatsApp governance number.
