CM lays foundation stone for ‘Gaurav Udyan'

on Wednesday unveiled the foundation stone of the 'Deshratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Bihar Gaurav Udyan', also known as the Waste-to-Wonder Theme Park, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 14.98 crore.
Before the foundation stone ceremony, the CM paid floral tributes at the memorial site of Deshratna Dr Rajendra Prasad.
While laying the foundation stone, Nitish asked the official to ensure that the Waste-to-Wonder Theme Park is constructed near the memorial site of India's first President Dr Rajendra Prasad, in a well-planned manner.
"This park will greatly benefit the local community. On one side of the theme park is the memorial site of Dr Rajendra Prasad and on the other side is the J P Ganga Path, making the view quite scenic," Nitish said.
"It is noteworthy that the urban development and housing department has approved the construction of the theme park on 10 acres of land between the memorial site of Dr Rajendra Prasad and the J P Ganga Path, at a cost of Rs 14.98 crore. This park will showcase various elements of Bihar's proud history and culture. The theme park will feature inspiring stories of Bihar's great personalities such as Aryabhata, Chanakya, Emperor Ashoka, Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan and Dashrath Manjhi," a communique issued from the chief minister's office (CMO) said.
"The theme park will also display the state's architectural heritage, including Nalanda, Vikramshila, religious stupas, temples and mausoleums. Additionally, there will be arrangements for food and drink for tourists and the construction of a playground. Moreover, a grand memorial complex will be built at the current memorial site of Dr Rajendra Prasad in his honor," the communique said.
During the event, a video film related to the construction of the 'Deshratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Bihar Gaurav Udyan' was shown to the CM.
The event was also attended by deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, urban development and housing minister Jibesh Kumar, road construction minister Nitin Nabin, mayor Sita Sahu and other public representatives, along with the chief minister's principal secretary Deepak Kumar, development commissioner Pratyaya Amrit, secretary of urban development and housing department Abhay Kumar Singh, chief minister's secretary Kumar Ravi and many other senior officials.

Goa govt launches Homestay and Bed and Breakfast Scheme

Agency: PTI Last Updated: Panaji, Aug 7 (PTI) The Goa government on Thursday launched its 'Homestay and Bed and Breakfast Scheme' to boost rural and community-based tourism. Under the scheme, which was formally launched by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at the Secretariat in Porvorim, local residents operating homestays in hinterland areas will be offered financial incentives and support. 'The Homestay Scheme is focused on promoting hinterland tourism and empowering women operators by giving them a platform to showcase their offerings. It will improve access to wildlife sanctuaries and village destinations," Sawant said. Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte highlighted the scheme's alignment with the state's 'Goa Beyond Beaches' vision. 'This is a focused effort to empower women and promote community-based tourism. Most homestays are run by women, and this scheme will strengthen their role in the tourism economy," he said. The minister said MoUs with platforms like Airbnb and ongoing training programmes will help scale up rural tourism in Goa. State Tourism Director Kedar Naik said the scheme is aimed at promoting regenerative tourism and empowering women and youth entrepreneurs. 'The scheme marks a strategic shift from policy to implementation. It offers both fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, simplified registration, quality classification of homestays, and promotional support through the state tourism department's platforms. Under the scheme, eligible establishments in Sattari, Sanguem, Dharbandora, Bicholim, Canacona, Ponda, and Quepem talukas will receive a one-time grant of Rs 2 lakh," Naik said. 'They will also benefit from training, marketing assistance, and subsidised participation in tourism trade fairs. The scheme will be valid for five years and may be extended further," he added. Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye, Mayem MLA Premendra Shet, Tourism Secretary Sanjeev Ahuja, among others, were present at the event.
