1. Sholay (1975)
The iconic film Sholay, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Hema Malini, was also shot with two different endings. The ending we were shown didn't show Gabbar being killed. Instead, the police arrive at the right time and catch Gabbar before Thakur kills him.
However, the original ending had Thakur killing Gabbar with his feet. Yes, you heard that right! In an interview with Indian Express, Ramesh Sippy revealed the reason behind it and shared that the censor board had asked to change it. They weren't happy with Gabbar being killed with feet, but Thakur had no hands, so he couldn't shoot him as well. Though the director wasn't happy about it, he had to change.
2. PK (2014)
PK, starring Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, and Sushant Singh Rajput, even had a different ending planned. The film's ending that we were shown was Aamir's character PK returning back to earth with another alien friend (played by Ranbir Kapoor) as part of a new research team.
However, the original ending was Anushka and Sushant's characters, Jaggu and Sarfaraaz, doing the Battery Recharge Dance to remember PK. Baazigar, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Shilpa Shetty, showed that towards the end, Ajay (played by SRK) dies. However, the original ending was something different.
The directors, Abbas-Mustan, wanted the demise of Ajay, but Rakhee and other distributors thought it wouldn't be a good idea, and they also shot the ending where police entered and took Shah Rukh Khan. The director revealed to PTI that this ending wasn't chosen as it wasn't conveying the emotional state of the character properly.
4. Pink (2016)
Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Kirti Kulhari, and Taapsee Pannu, Pink was also planned to have a different ending at first. We saw that the girls won the case in court after so much trouble. The court's verdict affirms Minal's story and the principle of 'no means no.' However, the film was first shot differently. In the end, the girls lost the case as they had no evidence and facts to prove it.
Taapsee Pannu once opened up on the reason behind the change in an interview with Bollywood Life and shared that they wanted the ending to provide some valuable message to the audience and motivate them to be strong and courageous in their lives.
5. Delhi 6 (2009)
Abhishek Bachchan played the role of Roshan Mehra in the film Delhi 6, while Sonam Kapoor played the role of Bittu Sharma. In the ending, we see Roshan survive a mob attack after he turns Kala Bandar to stop Bittu's escape with her lover. He then confesses his love for her. However, things take a drastic turn when a crowd mistakes him for the real Kala Bandar and beats him up. He endures, though gravely hurt, and comes back to life after meeting his grandfather in heaven.
However, the film had a different ending, and it was more tragic. In the original ending, Roshan was to die after being beaten by the mob. This could have intrigued viewers more and might be quite compelling. The film with this ending was shown at the Venice International Film Festival and received praise.
The ending was reportedly altered as Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra gave in to UTV's push for a happier ending than what was initially envisioned.

Based on the complaint filed by an executive producer of 24 Frames Factory, a case was registered under section 316(2) (criminal breach of trust) of the BNS at Filmnagar Police Station on May 25, and further investigation is ongoing, a police official said. The complainant stated that one of their VFX vendors based in Mumbai had dispatched the hard drive containing crucial data to their company's office address in Filmnagar through courier. As per the courier agency's records, the parcel was delivered on March 25 to an office boy, Raghu. Upon verification, it was found that the office boy handed over the hard drive to a woman, Charitha. The hard drive was taken by the woman without any authorisation or intimation to the company, with "malicious and deliberate" intent, which amounts to unauthorised possession and criminal breach of trust, the complainant alleged. A team member contacted her, but she has since been evasive and uncooperative, he said. The film starring Vishnu in the lead role is scheduled for release on June 27. The mythological epic narrates the story of the titular legendary devotee of Lord Shiva. His 100th birth anniversary will be celebrated on Saturday. Mumbai, May 30 (PTI) Cinema meant everything to Raj Khosla and he kept working till the very end, says daughter Sunita Bhalla, reminiscing about the director's career and the close bond he shared with Guru Dutt, Dev Anand and Vijay Anand. 'He never thought or talked about legacy, like what he is going to leave behind. He just worked and worked. That's all he did all his life. He never regretted what he did. He never regretted his work. He loved his work. He was very happy with what he did till the end. Cinema meant everything to him,' Sunita told PTI in an interview. Khosla would take good care of people who worked with him and maintained a calm atmosphere on his sets, she said. 'He used to enjoy his work and that was the best part… The stars used to enjoy working with him. He would just say, 'Give your best.' Everybody worked so happily with him. He worked with many top actresses — from Madhubala, Sadhana, Mumtaz, Waheeda Rehman, and Asha Parekh, and others,' she added. Among the over 25 films that her father made as a director, Sunita said she loved 'C.I.D.', 'Bombai Ka Babu' and 'Mera Gaon Mera Desh'. She remembered being on the set of 'Mera Gaon Mera Desh', which featured Dharmendra and Asha Parekh in lead roles with Vinod Khanna playing the antagonist. 'It was in Udaipur. I saw my dad taking shots for the movie, the song 'Maar Diya Jaye Ke Chhod Diya Jaye', which is such a brilliant song, was shot in the studios. 'Apni Prem Kahaniyan' was another memorable track. 'We fell in love with the costumes and jewellery and we would tell dad we wanted to wear all that,' Sunita said, adding that she also saw the shooting of 'Dostana' in Ooty, and 'Kachche Dhage' in Mahabaleshwar. Dev Anand and Guru Dutt played a pivotal role in Khosla's life. The director wanted to be a playback but destiny had different plans for him. He served as an assistant director to Dutt before making his directorial debut with 'Milap' in 1955. Anand and Khosla collaborated on several hits, including 'C.I.D.', 'Kala Pani' and 'Solva Saal'. Sunita said the bond between the trio was 'strong' and unbreakable. 'I've been with him to Dev Anand's house. He had close association with Chetan Anand and Guru Dutt. So, it was four of them together. They would often talk about films. I remember a discussion around who would direct 'Guide'. Some of the portion was shot by dad also, and then Vijay Anand took over after that.' She said Bhatt considered Khosla as a mentor. 'He was an assistant at that time, working under him, assisting in movies and all that.' Khosla was also close friends with poet lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri, lyricist Anand Bakshi, filmmaker Hrishikesh Mukherjee and writer Rahi Masoom Raza. 'They were like a family (Bakshis). I must be 14 or 15 maybe that time. There were so many good moments… Rahi Masoom Raza was his close friend. He also had a bond with Majrooh Sultanpuri, and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. With Hrishkesh Mukherjee, he used to play chess everyday. That's how he used to pass his time in the evenings.' Sunita shared that as a father had set certain rules for his five daughters to follow and weekends were always reserved as 'family time.' 'He used to make sure that all five of us used to be in the house at seven o'clock in the evening. Nobody was allowed to go anywhere (after that) unless we told him. Every Saturday,Sunday, we used to have family time at our ancestral house. My grandfather would be there and keep all our stuff ready for us. We used to eat biryani over there, and enjoy it,' she added. Despite making some of the most critically-acclaimed films of Hindi cinema, Sunita believes her father hasn't been appreciated much. And that's why a retrospective to commemorate his 100th birth anniversary is a 'special' moment for the family, she added. 'All the heroines and people who have worked with him should come together and just honour him. That's all my request from the industry. I would appreciate it if people in the industry understood and just honoured him,' Sunita said. Titled 'Raj Khosla 100 – Bambai Ka Babu', the event will take place on May 31 at Mumbai's Regal Cinema and also features a special panel discussion on the legacy of one of Indian cinema's most versatile directors. As part of the celebrations, three of Khosla's acclaimed films — 'C.I.D.' (1956), 'Bambai Ka Babu' (1960), and 'Mera Gaon Mera Desh' (1971) — will be screened.
