The bodies of the deceased were shifted to King George Hospital mortuary. Expressing shock over the incident, BJP state president Daggubati Purandeswari enquired about the health condition of the worker undergoing treatment. She called for a safety audit in industries so that recurrence of such accidents could be avoided. The BJP state president appealed to the state government to provide quality treatment to the victim. Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha contacted district collector Vijaya Krishnan and enquired about the cause of the accident. The Home Minister assured that the government will extend support to the victims' families.
Visiting the victim families, former minister Gudivada Amarnath expressed concern over recurring industrial accidents at the Pharma City. 'In a series of accidents held in the recent past, many lives were lost.
The government should take steps to carry out safety audits at frequent intervals so that employees' lives will be saved at least in future,' he commented, adding that the management and government should take the responsibility of extending all possible support to the victims' families. Meanwhile, trade union leaders alleged that the management failed in following safety standards and demanded a compensation of Rs.1 crore for the families of the deceased.

Apollo Hospitals posts 42 pc jump in profit to Rs 433 cr in Q1
New Delhi, Aug 12 (PTI) Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd on Tuesday reported a 42 per cent jump in profit after tax to Rs 433 crore in the June quarter. The healthcare services provider had reported a PAT of Rs 305 crore in the year-ago period, according to a company release. Revenues rose 15 per cent to Rs 5,842 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal year from Rs 5,086 crore in Q1 FY25, it said. Healthcare services revenue rose 11 per cent to Rs 2,935 crore in the first quarter of FY26 against Rs 2,637 crore in Q1 FY25, the statement said. CM urges youth to stay away from drugs on International Youth Day
Shimla: On the occasion of International Youth Day on Tuesday, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu urged the youth of the state to stay away from drugs and actively support efforts to make Himachal drug-free. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Sukhu appealed to young people to report drug traffickers to the police and assured that the state govt was committed to rehabilitating those trapped in the drug menace. Strict action was being taken against drug mafias, including the confiscation of their properties, he added. "The reforms we are implementing today will benefit the youth in the next five years when they will proudly say they belong to the most prosperous state in the country," he added. The chief minister also flagged off a 'Red Run' and 'Bicycle Run' from his official residence earlier in the morning and honoured the winners. To promote tourism, the state would invest Rs 3,000 crore in the coming years. The govt is offering loans at a 4% interest rate for home-stay construction. Presently, about 8,000 home-stays are operational in the state, and tourism activities have begun along the China border, he added. Educational reforms have elevated Himachal's ranking from 21st to 5th in the country, said Sukhu. He also started the second phase of the 'Car-Bin Distribution' drive, handing bins to 50 taxi drivers in Shimla. Across the state, 6,000 car-bins will be distributed, in addition to the 4,000 distributed earlier in the first phase. He said the state govt is promoting HIV testing and treatment alongside running awareness programmes to curb the spread of the disease.

Citigroup, GS, others buy 15.67% stake in Medi Assist Health for ₹578 cr
Citigroup Global Markets Mauritius, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley are among entities that collectively picked up a 15.67 per cent stake in Medi Assist Healthcare Services for Rs 578 crore through open market transactions on Tuesday. In addition, Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund (MF), Aditya Birla Sun Life MF, ICICI Prudential MF, Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance Company, Canadian Crown Corp PSP Investments, and US-based Wasatch Global Investors are the other entities that have cumulatively bought more than 1.1 crore shares or 15.67 per cent stake in Medi Assist Healthcare Services, as per block deal data on the NSE. The shares were purchased at an average price of Rs 522.70 apiece, taking the transaction value to Rs 577.84 crore. Meanwhile, Bessemer India Capital Holdings II Ltd, one of the promoters of Medi Assist Healthcare Services, exited by divesting its entire 15.67 per cent stake in the company. Shares of Bengaluru-based Medi Assist Healthcare Services rose 5.31 per cent to close at Rs 555.95 apiece on the NSE. In September 2024, Bessemer India Capital Holdings II pared a 13.5 per cent stake in Medi Assist Healthcare Services for Rs 580 crore.
