WWE SmackDown returns to its classic two-hour format this July
WWE SmackDown WWE SmackDown is getting ready for a big change this summer. After running for three hours every Friday night since early 2025, the show is now expected to go back to its original two-hour format. This move is happening because of a new TV series that will air on USA Network later this year. SmackDown became a three-hour show as part of a short-term deal between WWE and USA Network. This was when Raw was preparing to move to Netflix. Now, with a new show taking over the 10 PM slot on Fridays, SmackDown won't be able to continue with its third hour. Two-hour format likely to begin July 4 According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE is planning to drop the third hour starting with the July 4 episode. This means SmackDown will return to the two-hour format very soon, even before the new series airs. USA Network will debut its new legal drama called Rainmaker on August 15 at 10 PM ET. This show will air every Friday, which forces SmackDown to end before that time. There has been no official announcement from WWE or TKO yet, but this change has been in discussion for a while. Back in January, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H had already mentioned that the third hour would be temporary. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo SmackDown originally became three hours long to help WWE manage content during the transition to Netflix. But the extra hour was never meant to last forever. What does this mean for WWE and the fans Going back to two hours will affect how WWE runs SmackDown each week. With three hours, there was more time for matches, promos, and major returns. Recently, SmackDown featured big names like John Cena and Randy Orton , and held first-round matches for the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments. Even with tough TV competition, SmackDown still drew strong ratings. But with two hours, WWE will need to be more focused in how they use their time. This could lead to tighter storylines and faster-paced episodes. Many fans might welcome the change, as three hours sometimes felt too long. The upcoming change was also confirmed by a Variety report, which stated that Rainmaker will start airing on August 15 and take over the 10 PM time slot. The show will star actors like John Slattery and Lana Parrilla and is expected to run for 10 episodes. PWInsider reported that the show is expected to go to two hours starting July 4. Mike Johnson also mentioned that episodes of the Blue Brand will likely return to the old two-hour format well before the new series airs. While WWE has not officially confirmed the change, all signs suggest that SmackDown will return to two hours beginning next month. Whoopi Goldberg compares US to Iran in fiery clash with Alyssa Farah Griffin; ‘They just keep hanging Black people'
The View descended into turmoil when Whoopi Goldberg and Alyssa Farah Griffin argued about the Israel-Iran conflict. Sara Haines stated that she will not protect Iran, which she termed as a 'terrorist nation that has been funding people killing people for decades,' after Sunny Hostin charged Israel of violating diplomatic law by carrying out airstrikes against Iran's nuclear installations last week. 'They've never followed the rules,' Haines stated. Goldberg became enraged when Griffin expressed her opinion that 'Iranians literally throw gay people off of buildings' and 'don't adhere to basic human rights.' 'Let's not do that because if we start with that, we have been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car. They used to just keep hanging Black people,' miffed Goldberg hit back. In response, Griffin apologised, saying: 'I'm sorry but where the Iranian regime is today in 2025 is nothing compared to the United States.' In an attempt to correct Griffin, Goldberg stated that the two circumstances 'are the same.' But Griffin remained steadfast in her conviction, saying that 'The year 2025 in the United States is nothing like if I step foot wearing this outfit in Iran right now. I can't have my hair showing, I can't wear a skirt, I can't have my arms out.' Also Read: Alleged Tyler Perry-Derek Dixon private chats leak sparks online uproar; 'If you let the cast know that…' Griffin went on to mention that residing in the US in 2025 is 'very different' than living in Iran. Goldberg, however, interjected, 'Not if you're Black.' Despite acknowledging that America has 'very real problems,' Griffin asserted it's 'important' to keep in mind that 'there are places much darker than this country.' 'I think you know that Iran is significantly worse than our country,' she told the panel. Meanwhile, the panel was at odds with 77-year-old Arnlod Schwarzenegger, who arrived on the show to promote the second season of his Netflix action-comedy series FUBAR, when he said that immigrants in the US should 'behave like a guest.' Whoopi Goldberg, co-host, swiftly retorted that 90 percent of the people who entered the US are attempting to do the right thing, adding that individuals, who shouldn't be taken out of the country, are being pushed out. 'People who have visas, people who have all those things. So, we want all the right people. We don't want people who are doing bad stuff.'

Upendra Limaye of Animal fame all set to make his Kannada debut
Having wowed audiences nationwide with his portrayal of Freddy Patil in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film Animal, National Award-winning actor Upendra Limaye is now set to make his Kannada debut. Upendra will soon be seen in a pivotal role in director Kishore Bhargav 's upcoming film, which features Rishi in the lead. Kishore, who earlier worked as an associate director with Ram Gopal Varma and made his directorial debut with the Kannada film Stalker, reveals that casting Upendra was a decision born out of admiration. 'His performance in Animal blew me away. While writing this character, I couldn't think of anyone else,' shares the filmmaker. In the Kannada film, Upendra plays the role of Vasant Rao, who is 'wacky, aggressive, and funny'. Notably, the role comes with an unusual twist: the character suffers from misophonia, a condition where specific sounds trigger intense emotional or behavioural reactions. 'Vasant Rao is unpredictable. His aggression stems from his sensitivity to sound, but that's also where a lot of the film's humour lies,' says Kishore. A connection with Karnataka 'My mother is from Belagavi, so Kannada feels like my mother tongue—it's a language of love,' says the veteran actor, who is widely celebrated for his work in Marathi cinema.
