He followed Appalachian State with a stint at Tulane from 1985 to 1987. During his time there, Coach Brown improved the Green Wave from 1-10 in his first season to 6-5 just two years later.
Two stints at North Carolina (1988-1997 and 2019-2014) followed. From 1988 to 1997, the Tar Heels had a 69-46-1 record, three 10-win seasons, and made six consecutive bowl games. The team had a Top-Five finish, a Top-10 finish, and two Top-20 finishes. From 2019 to 2024, Brown rejuvenated UNC again, taking them from a two-win season the year before his return to six consecutive bowl games and compiling a 44-33 record.
Between his two tenures at North Carolina, he coached the University of Texas from 1998 to 2013. That stint included his two Coach of the Year Awards and the 2005 National Championship, a game widely regarded as one of the best ever. He's also the only coach in college history to win 100 games at two FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) schools and one of the few to lead two programs to Top Five finishes.

Packers safety Omar Brown spending the night in Indianapolis hospital after suffering bruised chest
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur said safety Omar Brown will spend Saturday night in an Indianapolis hospital for further evaluation after suffering a chest contusion in a preseason game against the Colts. LaFleur provided the update following Green Bay's come-from-behind 23-19 victory. Brown was seen wearing an oxygen mask and holding his midsection as he left the field on a golf cart. LaFleur did not have any additional details about the injury. 'It's a scary deal,' LaFleur said. Brown spent most of last season on the Packers practice squad, but wound up playing in two games and has had a strong enough training camp that he could make the Packers' 53-man roster. It's yet another injury to an already depleted secondary that is without Pro Bowl safety Xavier McKinney and cornerback Nate Hobbs. Green Bay remains hopeful both McKinney and Hobbs will be ready for the Sept. 7 season opener against division rival Detroit. Packers defensive lineman Barryn Sorrell also left with a knee injury in the first half. Running back MarShawn Lloyd also did not return after hauling in a 33-yard catch in the second quarter though it wasn't clear if he was injured on the play.

Hollywood Brown fantasy football preview 2025: Stats, season outlook, predictions
Rotoworld Staff, Hollywood Brown 2025 Fantasy Preview 2024: Brown missed most of the season after suffering a major shoulder injury in the preseason. He returned in Week 15 and was targeted at a high per-route rate, though his playing time remained limited. Brown had just 14 catches for 141 scoreless yards over five games in 2024. What's changed: Brown is fully recovered from a shoulder injury he suffered last August. The Chiefs could be without Rashee Rice in the early going as Rice faces a suspension that could be anywhere from two games to six games. The team also selected WR Jaylen Royals in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Outlook: While he'll certainly be part of three-receiver sets, Brown will likely function as Patrick Mahomes' WR3, well behind Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy. Perhaps Brown will take on the primary downfield role in the KC offense. There might not be much fantasy value in that role with Mahomes largely refusing to go downfield in recent seasons.
