Nissan Magnite CNG now available in six new states via dealer retrofitted kits
Nissan Motor India has announced the Phase 2 rollout of the CNG retrofitment kit on the Magnite SUV. The Nissan Magnite CNG will now be available in six new states including Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Tamil Nadu. The CNG kit is retrofitted on the Magnite and will be available for purchase at Nissan's authorised dealerships in these states.
Nissan Magnite CNG: Availability
The Nissan Magnite CNG was launched in May this year and sales began in seven states first - namely Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Karnataka. The second phase expands the availability to a total of 13 states pan India, while the automaker is working on the third phase of expansion to make the alternative fuel option more accessible on its only car sold in India.

The Nissan Magnite CNG uses a CNG retro-fitment kit sourced from Motozen. These kits are homologated and compliant with local regulations and safety standards

The CNG version is available with only the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine across six variants. The Magnite CNG is priced from ₹ 6.89 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards for the retrofitment kit, commanding a premium of ₹ 75,000 over the pure-petrol version. These CNG kits are retrofitted at the dealer level, and sourced from Motozen, government-approved third-party vendor. Nissan says the installation will take place at government-authorised fitment centres using a homologated kit compliant with local regulations and safety standards.
The automaker is offering a company warranty of 3 years/1 lakh km on the CNG kit components. It also gets a usable boot with a cargo capacity of 336 litres. Furthermore, Nissan says the customer feedback and third-party tests have indicated enhanced fuel economy with the Magnite CNG over the pure-petrol version. Nissan Magnite Kuro Edition likely to return. Here's what to expect
Nissan Motor India has teased a new edition for its Magnite SUV. The Nissan Magnite was updated in October 2024. The new teaser by the carmaker hints at a new edition of the SUV, possibly the Kuro Edition. The Nissan Magnite Kuro edition was first launched in October 2023, and since the update, the special edition has been discontinued. As the name suggests, the Kuro Edition will come with an all black theme, both for the exterior and the interior. It is expected that the Kuro Edition, while retaining the same design elements as the Magnite, will get the chrome elements replaced with gloss black ones. The launch of the 2025 Nissan Magnite Kuro edition will mark the first special edition for the updated model. Kuro in Japanese means black. Just like the previous iteration, the new Magnite Kuro edition is also expected to be based on the top end trim level. The Magnite Tekna Plus starts at ₹10.54 lakh, ex-showroom. The Kuro edition is expected to be priced slightly higher than the current Tekna Plus variant. Nissan Magnite Kuro Edition: Expected design As the name suggests, the Kuro Edition will come with an all black theme, both for the exterior and the interior. The Magnite comes with an 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and 3d surround system from Arkamys. It further gets a seven-inch digital instrument cluster. Additionally, the Nissan Magnite also features a single-pane electric sunroof, new auto-dimming IRVM with a frameless design and a wireless charger as well. Revving up: Renault gets keys to Nissan's TN plant
Renault has bought its partner Nissan 's 51 per cent stake in its joint venture plant near Chennai, four months after announcing the deal. With the completion of the acquisition, the French auto major has become the sole owner of the Oragadam facility in Tamil Nadu. Renault expects to strengthen its sales in the Indian market and step up exports. Japan's Nissan, which has struggled to gain market share in India, will now pay Renault to manufacture its models at the Chennai plant in a contract manufacturing arrangement. "India is a key market for Renault Group and also plays a vital role in our global R&D footprint. With full ownership of our plant in Chennai, we now have all the means to accelerate in India," said Renault Group CEO Francois Provost. Since its launch in 2010, the Chennai plant has produced over 2.8 million vehicles - including 1.2 million exported to more than 100 countries - as well as 4.6 million engines and gearboxes. Supported by nearly 300 local suppliers, the plant has an annual production capacity of over 400,000 vehicles and it is currently using nearly 50 per cent of it. Renault expects the capacity utilisation at the plant to improve as new models for both Renault and Nissan roll out of Oragadam. The plant is preparing to host Renault Group's new multi-energy modular platform, which will "support the Renault brand's future models", a statement said. Renault has appointed Stephane Deblaise as its India CEO effective Sept 1, 2025 to lead the next phase of the French auto major's strategy here. The new strategy is bullish on the local market's importance in the group's global strategy. "Renault Group looks to India as a key driver of international expansion" the statement said. It added that this move is part of a broader momentum, highlighted by the opening of the group's largest design centre outside France, announced in April, and the launch of the new Triber - the first model in a product offensive that will include four new vehicles.
