Egypt's President Sisi honors injured personnel from Armed forces, Police
The President honored several families of martyrs and injured members of the Armed Forces and Police, and then posed for a picture with martyrs' children, sharing their joy on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi performed the prayer Eid al-Fitr (the Feast of Breaking the Fast) at Field Marshal Tantawi Mosque in Cairo.
Egyptians celebrated the first day of Eid al-Fitr, Monday, after Dar al-Ifta announced that the Shawwal crescent moon wasn't sighted on March 29.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi extended greetings to Egyptian people as well as the Arab and Muslim nations on Eid Al-Fitr in a social media post on Sunday.
'I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the great Egyptian people and to the Arab and Islamic nations,' the president said.

Egypt's PM tells Palestinian PM that Rafah crossing is working 24/7 for aid
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Sunday stressed that Egypt would continue to provide all necessary support to the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing, which he said is operating around the clock, during a meeting with his Palestinian counterpart Mohammad Mustafa. Madbouly reaffirmed Egypt's firm position on the Palestinian cause and its categorical rejection of any plans to displace Palestinians from their land, The meeting was held at the government's headquarters in New Alamein city to review the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories. 'Future generations of the Palestinian people will remember the solid Egyptian position against displacement, without which we would not be talking about the Palestinian cause today,' Mustafa said, calling for voices hostile to Egypt's role to be ignored. Madbouly reiterated Egypt's solidarity with the Palestinian people and its commitment to their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also reaffirmed Egypt's complete rejection of the continued policies of home demolitions and settlement expansion in the Palestinian territories. The prime minister confirmed that Egypt's intensive efforts continue within international forums and as a mediator with Qatar and the United States, aiming to secure a ceasefire, ensure the sustainable entry of more humanitarian aid, and convene the Cairo conference for early recovery and reconstruction. He stressed Egypt's adherence to the unity of the Palestinian territories in the West Bank and Gaza Strip under the leadership of the Palestinian Authority. Madbouly also highlighted the importance of implementing the outcomes of the New York conference on a peaceful settlement and the two-state solution, which was held under the presidency of Saudi Arabia and France on July 28. For his part, Mustafa said the current challenges necessitate further coordination and consultation. He thanked all Egyptian state institutions for their efforts in supporting the Gaza Strip and said the Palestinian side was counting on Egypt's continued role. The Palestinian prime minister also discussed the communications he has had with several donor countries in preparation for the reconstruction phase in Gaza, confirming that they are working on all related aspects, including plans, financing, and implementation methods. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty praised the level of coordination between the two sides, particularly regarding preparations for the reconstruction conference, and stressed the importance of simultaneously maintaining the political horizon for resolving the Palestinian issue, represented by the two-state solution. The Egyptian delegation included the ministers of foreign affairs, higher education, and social solidarity, as well as the Egyptian ambassador to Ramallah. The Palestinian delegation included the ministers of interior, health, planning, and social development and relief, as well as the Palestinian ambassador to Cairo.

Egypt, Japan discuss economic ties, preparations for TICAD conference
Egyptian and Japanese officials have discussed strengthening their economic relations and preparations for the upcoming Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), Egypt's planning ministry said. Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, met with Japanese Ambassador to Cairo, Fumio Iwai, and the chief representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Egypt, Ebisawa Yu, the ministry said in a statement on Sunday. Al-Mashat praised the economic and development relations between the two countries, which span more than 70 years, and highlighted the elevation of bilateral ties to a strategic partnership during the visit of former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to Egypt in April 2023. The officials discussed various aspects of their cooperation, particularly in sectors prioritised by the Egyptian government, including education, health, human capital investment, and the green economy transition. They also expressed their anticipation for the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in early November and reaffirmed their commitment to completing the fourth phase of the Greater Cairo Metro. With the 9th edition of TICAD scheduled for Aug. 20-22, Al-Mashat emphasized the conference's importance in strengthening African-Japanese relations and creating constructive partnerships to advance development in Africa. She underscored the importance of exploring new opportunities for trilateral economic and investment cooperation between Egypt, Japan, and African countries, particularly in renewable energy. The minister also reaffirmed the government's aspiration to increase investments and participation by the Japanese private sector, JICA, and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) to support development financing for the private sector in Egypt. Japan is one of Egypt's most important Asian development partners, with a current cooperation portfolio of about 18 development projects. The total technical support and grants provided by Japan amount to approximately $2.4 billion, in addition to development financing of approximately $7.2 billion in various fields, the ministry said.

Nada Mustafa Alexander Alimov, Director of Department for Multilateral Humanitarian Cooperation and Cultural Relations at the Russian Foreign Ministry and Executive Secretary of the Russian Commission for UNESCO, said on Sunday that Russia hopes to see Egyptian candidate Khaled El-Anany assume the role of UNESCO Director-General in 2025.
