Director RS Prasanna says 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is an 'honest film'

Khaleej Times2 days ago

Director RS Prasanna has shared his excitement and insights about his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, which stars Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and actress Genelia Deshmukh in the lead.
The film, set to release on June 20, 2025, has already generated buzz, especially after the release of its trailer in May.
Sitaare Zameen Par is a sequel to Khan's 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. The film faced criticism for perceived similarities with the international film Champions, a remake of the Spanish drama Campeones.
Yet, Prasanna remains confident in his film's unique approach and powerful message.
"... the core emotion comes from Taare Zameen Par. The thought and the mindset began with that film," he said. "Hopefully, this picture will take that thought and mindset in a new direction."
The director revealed how the idea of Sitaare Zameen Par came about, recounting a personal memory from 2007 when Aamir Khan won the Best Debut Director award for Taare Zameen Par.
"As we began pre-production, I kept referencing Taare Zameen Par," he shared, adding, "Aamir Sir and I often discussed scenes from that film. One day, he suggested that we view Sitaare Zameen Par as an extension of that emotion. It was a natural progression."
Sitaare Zameen Par casts actors with special needs, including individuals with Down's syndrome and autism.
"...They're the true heroes of this film," he said. "We couldn't have made this film without them."
The director elaborated on the challenges and joys of working with these exceptional actors.
"It was not difficult to direct them. They were the ones who directed us," Prasanna admitted, adding, "They taught us how to interact with them. All we needed to do was guide them on technical aspects like camera angles and lighting. Their acting was natural, real, and powerful. They made the set a better place."
Prasanna also highlighted the role of casting directors Tess Joseph and Anmol Ahuja in the lengthy audition process, which included over 2,500 auditions and workshops.
Prasanna was all praise for Aamir Khan, describing him as not just a star but also an ideal collaborator. "There is something called Aamir magic," the director said.
The film, scheduled to release on June 20, 2025, follows the story of a basketball coach who works with a group of individuals with intellectual disabilities. ANI

So Drama! Entertainment Launches New Entertainment App

SINGAPORE - Media OutReach Newswire - 6 June 2025 - So Drama! Entertainment in Singapore is excited to announce the new entertainment and lifestyle app, Kakee. Officially launched on 6 June, Kakee is a rebrand of CAMOKAKIS. This rebrand marks a significant transformation for the app, introducing a more engaging and innovative digital experience for users. Rewards and Entertainment at Your Fingertips Kakee is a proudly made-in-Singapore entertainment and lifestyle app with a difference: it rewards users for simply enjoying content on the app; the more they engage, the more they earn. A homophone of the word kaki – meaning "close friend" in local slang, and part of the phrase kaki lang, meaning "one of us" in Hokkien, Kakee is positioned as "Your Rewards & Entertainment Buddy'. It is designed to be the perfect companion, in lifestyle and entertainment – whether it be listening to music, watching a video, or playing a game – while also actively rewarding users with prizes, entry into special events and contests. Kakee brings together four core features that lets users engage, be entertained, and earn: Listen (refer to Appendix A) – Listen to DJs and 24/7 music streams from POWER 98 and 88.3JIA. Watch (refer to Appendix B and C) – Watch Kakee Originals, a collection of proudly made-in-Singapore serialised video content spanning lifestyle, travel, current affairs, mental wellness, and micro-dramas. The platform also offers Kakee On The Move — social-first short-form video content. Play – Play thrilling mobile games that keep the fingers moving and the brain juicing. Lobangs – The rewards hub on Kakee where users can win exciting prizes and take part in events and contests. Kakee also introduces Koins — a gamified rewards system that adds a fun and rewarding layer to everyday interactions. Every activity on the app, whether listening, watching or playing, helps users earn Koins that can be redeemed for exciting rewards. A Fully Digital Experience In line with broader digitalisation trends, Kakee, alongside radio stations POWER 98 and 88.3JIA, will fully embrace a digital-first future. Starting 6 June, Kakee will launch new 24/7 music streams from both stations, giving listeners a fresh, flexible way to enjoy their favourite tunes anytime, anywhere. FM broadcasts and their simulcasts on the Kakee app will remain available until October 2025, after which both will cease. Beyond that, the app's always-on music streams will continue, ensuring uninterrupted access to music in a mobile-first format. This shift aligns with the growing need for on-demand, mobile-first content, allowing users to enjoy their favourite music, games, and entertainment at their convenience. Kakee's interactivity, flexibility, and rewards-based ecosystem are tailored for modern audiences seeking a more connected experience. With these new features and an integrated rewards system, Kakee is poised to redefine entertainment, offering an engaging experience that turns everyday moments into rewards. As the app evolves, it remains a trusted companion, continuously innovating to stay meaningfully connected with its audience. Kakee App Launch and Launch Event CAMOKAKIS has officially refreshed to Kakee on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store on 6 June 2025. To mark the occasion, a public launch event will be held from 26 to 29 June, 11am to 10pm daily at Plaza Singapura. Free and open to all, the event will feature appearances by DJs from POWER 98 and 88.3JIA, live performances by the Music & Drama Company, as well as an immersive, on-ground experience of Kakee's four features – Listen, Watch, Play, and Lobangs – brought to life in a physical space. Adding to the excitement, the Kakee Konvoy – a vibrant truck with a mobile stage – will be stationed on-site, where the DJs will perform live and engage with the crowd through games and giveaways. Download Kakee on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store: Hashtag: #SodramaEntertainment #kakeesg #kakee #newapp #applaunch #entertainmentapp #mediaandentertainment #media #Singapore The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. Victory for Virat Kohli's Bengaluru was also a triumph for cricket

Kudos to Bengaluru for winning the IPL title I write in reference to Ajit Vijaykumar's article IPL 2025: Cricket fortunate to witness final flourish of Virat Kohli's glorious career (June 4): it was a proud and unforgettable moment for Bengalureans, including myself, as we witnessed the final IPL T20 match played in Ahmedabad, where our Royal Challengers Bangalore side clinched a thrilling victory against Punjab Kings. This win marks a significant turning point in RCB's journey, as they secured their first IPL trophy after 18 long years of perseverance and dedication. The team's unwavering spirit, hard work, and unity were truly commendable and inspirational. RCB's victory sparked huge celebrations across Bengaluru, with fans expressing their joy and pride in grand fashion. The deep bond between Bengalureans and their home team was evident, turning the city's streets into a sea of red and gold. What made the moment even more special was the spirit of true sportsmanship displayed by Punjab. Despite the loss, they graciously acknowledged and applauded RCB's well-deserved victory, reflecting the essence of the game — that cricket, like any sport, should be played and celebrated with mutual respect and integrity. This final wasn't just about winning a trophy – it was about resilience, belief and the spirit of the game that unites millions. K Ragavan, Bengaluru, India We need a Gaza deal now I write in reference to the editorial Gaza cannot afford more ceasefire stalemate (June 2): the plight of the people of Gaza is really heart-rending. They are unable to access water, food and medicines. The area of land that they occupy has been shrinking in the current conflict. Their children are missing school for years now. Generations of children are losing the opportunity to build better lives. Hamas should release the remaining Israeli hostages as a sign of good faith. Perhaps, it will create an atmosphere of mutual trust and kindle a peaceful settlement eventually. I hope countries like Jordan, Egypt and the UAE lead efforts to restore normality in Gaza. The people of Gaza have the right to lead peaceful family lives, just as the rest of us do. Rajendra Aneja, Dubai US officials need to be neutral I write in reference to the The National 's Facebook post titled US Ambassador to Israel suggests Palestinian state on French Riviera (June 1): how can peace be negotiated and achieved when officials in government show no neutrality? Seventy-seven years of conflict and no one is adult enough to realise that endless wars do not benefit the planet or humanity. Why do influential people perpetuate this vicious cycle? Lalitha Omar, Durban, South Africa Violence should not be normalised I write in reference to Nagham Mohanna's article Three more Palestinians killed by Israeli army gunfire near aid centre in southern Gaza (June 2): the killing of innocent Palestinians has become normal, yet so few are talking about it. We will be answerable to our silence. Abdul Razak Yasin Jr, Dubai Dress respectfully I write to you in reference to the article 'This is how you dress at Dubai Mall': Viral post sparks fashion etiquette debate (June 1): I fully agree. Some tourists are dressing in a disrespectful way in a Muslim country. Nobody requests that you cover your hair or face, but pay attention at the signs at the entry of the malls and dress accordingly. Yes. As an expat, I was always astonished at the lack of respect for the culture. Thank you for this. Judy Garelli
