Warriors Leave Promising Center Out of Summer League Plans
The NBA Summer League offers the opportunity for young players to continue their development and showcase why they deserve a spot on a team's roster, and maybe even their rotation. The Golden State Warriors need no such convincing from one key youngster.

One of the biggest holes on the roster this season for the Warriors was at the center position. That will remain a focal point of the offseason for the organization. Adding reinforcements in the frontcourt should be expected.
While the Warriors may be looking for a boost to their starting lineup, there was one player who emerged as a viable rotational option in 2024-25 at that spot. That player was Quinten Post.

Post went from being selected 52nd overall in the 2024 NBA Draft to seeing regular minutes in the Warriors rotation. The rookie big man averaged 8.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 40.8 percent from 3-point.

The Warriors center even appeared in the postseason for the team. His impact there was lackluster by comparison to the regular season. Despite that, the Warriors have reportedly seen enough to make a key decision on Post moving forward.
Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area revealed that the Warriors big man will not have a prominent role in the Summer League. The indications here are that Golden State has seen enough from their young big.
"Quinten Post is not on the Warriors' summer league roster. He will not be playing summer league for the Warriors anymore I'm told, but likely will be around the team working out," Johnson wrote on Twitter/X.
One would imagine this decision being inspired by Post's strong contributions this past season. The Warriors appear to believe that their young center has done enough to earn himself a prominent spot with the team moving forward.

Fever's Bonus Money for Upset Win Over Lynx on Tuesday Draws Attention
Fever's Bonus Money for Upset Win Over Lynx on Tuesday Draws Attention originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Fever played without Caitlin Clark on Tuesday against the Minnesota Lynx in the final of the Commissioner's Cup series, and managed to pull off a surprising upset in convincing fashion, 74-59. Advertisement In most sports, players tend to yawn their way through gimmicky in-season tournaments, but in the WNBA, it's a bit more of a big deal. That is because in a league where players typically earn less than $150,000 per season, the $30,000 in bonus money is significant. At The Athletic, the payout for the teams was laid out: "A $500,000 prize pool is awarded to the championship winners, and Coinbase commits an additional $120,000 in cryptocurrency to the prize pool. The respective pools are then split between players on the roster. Indiana has 11 players, and Minnesota has 12. "Players receive more money in bonuses for winning the Commissioner's Cup than for winning the WNBA championship. According to the league's CBA, WNBA champions receive $11,356 bonuses per player, and runners-up receive $5,678 per player." Mandatory Credit: Jesse Johnson-Imagn Images That is, naturally, an oddity--the Fever won more money on Tuesday than they would for winning a title. Additionally, each team plays for a charity. On Tuesday, the league laid out on Twitter/X just how those payouts go for the participants in the Commissioner's Cup final. Advertisement "Here's what the Fever and Lynx are playing for tonight! Fever - Peace Learning Center Lynx - ACLU Minnesota The winner of the Commissioner's Cup Championship presented by @Coinbase will take home an additional $10k for their charity, while the team that comes in 2nd place will take home and additional $5k for theirs." The Fever were led by Natasha Howard, with 16 points and 12 rebounds. She was awarded the game's MVP trophy as she helped wear down a stout Minnesota interior defense, aided by forward Aliyah Boston, who had 12 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. The Fever are now 9-8, and the Lynx drop to 14-3. Damian Lillard Linked to Warriors After Release From Bucks
Damian Lillard Linked to Warriors After Release From Bucks originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The short, strange and unfruitful Damian Lillard era for the Milwaukee Bucks is over. On Tuesday, they decided to waive Lillard after he had spent two seasons with them. Advertisement When the Bucks acquired Lillard two summers ago, they were hoping he would pry open their championship window once again. But they have now lost in the first round of the NBA playoffs three years in a row, and Lillard tore his Achilles in the first round of this year's postseason. According to Marc J. Spears, the Golden State Warriors are interested in picking up the nine-time All-Star. "Another thing I'm hearing, of the many teams that reached out to Damian Lillard, the Warriors are one of those teams," Spears said on NBA Today. Lillard is almost undeniably a future Hall of Famer, and he averaged 24.9 points and 7.1 assists for the Bucks this past season. But an Achilles injury, for someone with as much wear and tear as he has after 13 seasons, could threaten his viability as a player. Golden State Warriors are reportedly reaching out to NBA point guard Damian Im-USA TODAY Sports The Warriors made a blockbuster trade for veteran star forward Jimmy Butler in February and surged afterward, causing many to call them dark horse title contenders. But after Stephen Curry injured his hamstring, they lost in the second round of the playoffs to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Advertisement If they do end up getting Lillard, one would have to question his fit, as he's a point guard, the same position Curry plays. One would also have to wonder if he would accept a lesser role off the bench if it comes down to that. Lillard grew up in Oakland, Calif., and as Spears pointed out, he grew up going to Warriors games at the Oakland Arena, formerly known as the Oracle Arena, their old home arena in Oakland. Messages Are Pouring in After Jayson Tatum's 6-Word Post on Friday
Messages Are Pouring in After Jayson Tatum's 6-Word Post on Friday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Everything changed for the Boston Celtics when Jayson Tatum ruptured his Achilles against the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals this past season. They went from a perennial championship contender to a team in limbo, and they didn't waste time making changes after the season. Advertisement Boston traded Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis before Wednesday's draft, two crucial contributors to its 2024 title-winning team. The moves got the organization under the second apron, which increases its flexibility with free agency and trades. Meanwhile, Tatum is rehabbing his Achilles injury and will likely miss the entirety of next season. The six-time All-Star posted a message about it on Friday night via social media.
