GEHC Stock Declines Despite Expansion in Precision Care Capabilities

Yahoo16-06-2025
GE HealthCare Technologies Inc. GEHC, on Thursday, announced the combination of its proprietary features and algorithms with MIM Encore. Per management, the software solution has been designed to handle key healthcare challenges like improving efficiency, streamlining cross-departmental communication and reducing manual workloads.
GE HealthCare acquired MIM Software in 2024.
The latest move is expected to be a significant milestone for GE HealthCare with respect to delivering precision care through advanced digital solutions. This, in turn, is likely to boost its Molecular Imaging & Computed Tomography (CT) business and strengthen its foothold in the niche space.
Following the announcement, shares of the company lost nearly 1.6% till Friday's trading.
Historically, the company has gained a high level of synergies from its partnerships. Although the latest announcement is likely to be beneficial for GEHC's top-line growth going forward, the stock declined overall.
GE HealthCare currently has a market capitalization of $33.08 billion. It has an earnings yield of 5.6%, better than the industry's 0.5%. In the last reported quarter, GEHC delivered an earnings surprise of 10.9%.
Per GE HealthCare, its first combined software release with MIM Encore will likely aid in enhancing digital imaging and workflow solutions across oncology, cardiology and neurology. MIM Encore, now equipped with additional GE HealthCare features and algorithms, is expected to deliver an integrated reporting experience for both positron emission tomography (PET) and SPECT (single-photon emission CT) imaging.
Also, GE HealthCare's Effortless Workflow seamlessly integrates with MIM Encore, enabling clinicians to manage rising caseloads with intuitive interfaces, customizable displays and automation that can help bridge experience gaps and reduce burnout.
Per a report by Grand View Research, the global molecular imaging market was valued at $8.8 billion in 2024 and is anticipated to witness a CAGR of 4.6% between 2025 and 2030. Factors like the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases, such as cancer, the therapeutic sectors, and the development of hybrid imaging systems are likely to drive the market.
Given the market potential, the latest advancement in precision care is expected to provide a significant boost to GE HealthCare's business.
This month, GE HealthCare and PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) have officially inaugurated Indonesia's first production facility dedicated to manufacturing technologically advanced CT scanners.
Last month, GE HealthCare announced that the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines) for clinicians now recommend considering fluoroestradiol (FES) PET for systemic staging in patients with recurrent or metastatic lobular breast cancer.
The same month, GE HealthCare received the FDA's 510(k) clearance for its Aurora nuclear medicine system and Clarify DL.
Shares of the company have lost 6.8% in the past year against the industry's 10.1% rise and the S&P 500's gain of 9.4%.

Colorado teacher shares advice for her peers about how to save money on classroom school supplies

Every year, teachers are spending money out of their own pocket to fill their classroom. With school starting soon, many teachers are now buying all the supplies they need to stock their classrooms for the upcoming school year. With rising costs, this can also come at a steep cost for educators. A local teacher has some advice on how teachers can save some money when getting their classrooms ready. According to the National Education Association, teachers spend on average $500 to $850 on school supplies every year. Some advice to help teachers reduce out-of-pocket spending include: Taking a look at what supplies you have from last year and see if anything can be re-used, making a list of everything you still need and setting a budget for yourself. Katie Bergman teaches creative writing at Aurora Central High School. She said this school year, she had to buy all new school supplies for her classroom. She first recommends shopping at several different places for supplies to help make supplies more affordable. "I do find that Walmart, ultimately, will always have the best pricing. Places like Amazon are good, especially if you need bulk supplies. Amazon is going to be great for teachers or for families with many children. You can buy like, say, for example, a big box of highlighters and separate them," said Bergman. Bergman said while every teacher's spending habits are different, elementary school teachers tend to spend a little more money than middle school or high school teachers because they have detailed plans that require certain supplies. She added that most schools will provide teachers with basic supplies, but they do not supply classroom décor. Bergman recommends going to local thrift stores or consignment shops to shop for furniture and supplies. "FaceBook Marketplace has been useful, mostly as a teacher, to find inexpensive items for my classroom. So, my goal is always to make the classroom a place where students want to be. So I've been able to find things like comfortable armchairs and rugs and tables and things like that from Marketplace at a really low or free cost," said Bergman. Bergman said this year, she's even doing a coffee bar for her students, where each student will get their own mug. "I was able to find over 100 mugs for free on Marketplace, so each student can have their own. And so that will be one of our first week assignments or activities, where students will decorate their mug and they'll have a personalized mug for the year to use," said Bergman. Bergman also recommends talking with others that work in your school. "Always talk to your bookkeeper or your secretary at your school to find out what kind of school supplies will be provided to you at your school. You can always talk to veteran teachers in the building to see if there's anything they want to clean out of their classroom," said Bergman. Teachers can also create a wish list for family and friends to help make things more affordable. Shop the sales throughout the summer months, buy used supplies or even utilize dollar stores. Teachers can also join teacher discount programs. As for community members, if you're interested in helping a local teacher, you can buy supplies from their Amazon wish list or contact the school or school district directly to make a donation.

Aurora Fire Rescue fights back against cancer risks with new screenings, turnout gear

Firefighters in Colorado face a lot of dangers that put them at risk of injury or illness, but one of the more prevalent problems can come from their own gear. Now, Aurora Fire Rescue is taking steps to make sure its crews stay safe while saving others. Firefighters have some of the highest risks for job-related cancer. According to the CDC, they are 9% more likely to be diagnosed with cancer than the average American because of the chemicals that can be released in fires and the chemicals used to protect them from those fires. "The problem with this inner shell is it contains PFAS, and PFAS contributes to firefighter cancer," said Aurora Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Hunter Hackbarth. PFAS stands for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, but they're also known as "forever chemicals." They don't break down into the environment readily and include dozens of substances known to cause a variety of health problems. According to the International Association of Fire Fighters, 72% of their members' line-of-duty deaths in 2023 were due to occupational cancer. "We have had two retirees that have passed from cancer. We have other retirees that are managing some cancer issues right now," said Hackbarth. That's why Aurora Fire Rescue is investing in programs to keep its men and women safe. First, they are starting lifespan cancer screenings for their firefighters through a federal government grant, and they are getting new gear free from cancer-causing PFAS. "Which is a single-layer gear, protective outer shell that we wear for medical calls, car accidents, auto extrication, wildland fire and general use compared to our structure, firefighting gear," said Hackbarth. The idea is that since the majority of calls they respond to are not structure fires, they can wear the light gear that doesn't expose them to PFAS like their bunker gear does. They will still have to use and carry their bunker gear, but will use it less often. It's an idea that is a big hit around the firehouse. "They're a lot lighter. They're a lot easier to walk around and breathe," said firefighter Patrick Slama. "In the summer, it will be nice," said firefighter Seidel.
