Shares of Chinese defense companies rallied on Monday after Pakistan said that it intends to buy one of the Asian power's most-advanced fighter jets as a part of major arms purchase. Among the top gainers was
AVIC Shenyang Aircraft
Company, whose stock surged over 10% following Pakistan's announcement that it plans to buy J-35 stealth fighter jet from the Chinese company.
Touted as one of the country's most-advanced fighter jets, the deal is seen as a part of major arms purchase by India's western neighbour.
On Friday, the government of Pakistan in a social media post said that it would acquire 40 J-35 fifth-generation fighter jets, KJ-500 airborne early warning and control aircraft, as well as HQ-19 ballistic missile defense systems.
Shares of AVIC Shenyang Aircraft have remained unbeaten for the past three trading sessions, Today's rally has extended stocks gains to 13% in the past five sessions. While it is a month since the ceasefire between India and Pakistan was implemented, AVIC Shenyang Aircraft shares have jumped 18% in this period.

AVIC Shenyang Aircraft has been in the thick of action owing to its J-35 stealth fighter jet
Meanwhile, other Chinese defence stocks also saw a positive rub-off impact as Aerospace Nanhu Electronic Information Technology Co., whose shares jumped as much as 15% on the intraday basis. This counter has rallied 10% in the past five trading sessions.
Aerospace CH UAV Co shares were up by over 1% while Inner Mongolia First Machinery Grp Co was 4% higher.
The J-35 sale to Pakistan would mark China's first export of the fifth-generation jet, which has advanced stealth capabilities for penetrating the airspace of an adversary, a Bloomberg report said. The fighter was developed by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation and publicly unveiled at the 2024 Zhuhai Airshow, it added.
The KJ-500 aircraft would improve Pakistan's radar coverage and its smaller size allows for nimbler use in regional clashes. The HQ-19 surface-to-air missile systems would enhance the country's ability to intercept ballistic missiles.
The deal comes amid persisting tensions between Pakistan and India. The nuclear-armed neighbors clashed several weeks ago, with both sides trading air, drone and missile strikes, as well as artillery and small arms fire along their shared border in early May.

Even in defeat, we don't abandon people: Gujarat BJP chief ahead of Assembly bypolls
With nearly over a week left for the upcoming Visavadar Assembly by-election, the Gujarat BJP unit has gone into action mode, treating the triangular political contest as a matter of prestige. In a campaign event held on Monday, Gujarat BJP President and Union Jal Shakti Minister, C.R. Paatil, addressed a gathering of party workers and local leaders at Bhesan in Junagadh district, declaring that the BJP "has never learned to lose, and even when defeated, it doesn't abandon its ground". Attacking both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Paatil warned voters not to fall for the "delusions and provocations" of parties that, according to him, "have no base in Gujarat" and lost deposits on 136 seats in the 2022 Assembly election. "Those who came from Delhi and claimed they would form the government had their deposits forfeited by Gujarat's voters," he said, pointing to the BJP's dominant win in 156 Assembly constituencies in 2022 state election. Reminding the people at the gathering that although Visavadar voters may have "experimented" in the 2022 Assembly election, this time there should be no mistakes, Paatil urged, noting that the Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel himself came to file nomination papers with BJP candidate Kirit Patel -- "a sign of the state leadership's commitment to Visavadar's progress". Kirit Patel, the BJP's candidate in the upcoming bypoll, also addressed the gathering, highlighting his long-standing connection with Visavadar, Bhesan and Junagadh. "I have worked in this region for 16 years, assisting with education, health and resolving civic issues. During crises like Covid-19, I stood by the people," he said. Patel also alleged a conspiracy by Opposition candidates "brought in from outside" and claimed they were spreading misinformation and misleading voters. "These are not development-focused people. They only incite and provoke," he said, contrasting it with what he described as the BJP's platform of "development and trust". A total of 16 candidates are contesting the Visavadar seat, 12 of whom, Patel claimed, have no real ties to the region. "Visavadar does not need outsiders," he emphasised. The rally was also attended by several top BJP leaders, including MPs, Ministers, and MLAs -- Raghavji Patel, Kunvarji Bavaliya, Mulubhai Bera, Mukesh Patel, Rajesh Chudasama, Jayesh Radadiya, and others. The upcoming by-elections for the Visavadar and Kadi Assembly constituencies in Gujarat, scheduled for June 19, have emerged as politically significant contests for all three major parties -- the BJP, Congress and the AAP. The Visavadar seat fell vacant after BJP MLA Harshad Ribadiya resigned and joined the Congress ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections, only to return to the BJP recently. Meanwhile, the Kadi Assembly seat became vacant following the resignation of Congress MLA Karshan Solanki, who also joined the BJP.

Three-Month Ration Rice Distribution a Reality Under Modi Government: BJP District President RamAnjaneyulu
Gadwal: In a notable outreach effort, BJP District President T. RamAnjaneyulu visited Ration Shop No. 2603032 located on Rajaveedhi in Gadwal town on Sunday. The visit, organized under the leadership of BJP Town President Rajaka Jayashree, aimed to monitor the distribution of ration rice to the public. During the inspection, RamAnjaneyulu emphasized that ration rice distribution should be carried out without causing inconvenience to ration card holders. He instructed the ration dealers to ensure smooth and transparent delivery to all eligible beneficiaries. Speaking on the occasion, District President T. RamAnjaneyulu lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his consistent efforts toward the welfare of the poor. He stated that due to the farsightedness of the Modi government, especially during crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the monsoon season, the central government has made it possible to distribute three months' worth of ration rice at once. This initiative, he noted, eliminates the need for people to make repeated visits for essential supplies. He urged all eligible beneficiaries to utilize the ration rice responsibly and make the most of the government's welfare scheme. The event was also attended by BJP District General Secretary Ravi Ekbote, State Council Member Bandala Venkata Ramulu, District Vice-President Rajaka Narasimha, District OBC Morcha President Deva Das, senior BJP leader Mohan Reddy, and others.

Indian oil & gas sector to witness strong growth despite global volatility
New Delhi: The Indian oil and gas sector is likely to see strong growth through the fiscal year 2026 and 2027, despite significant volatility faced by the oil and gas market last month, said a research note by Systematix Institutional Equities. India's oil & gas sector covered companies are likely to deliver average sales, EBITDA, and PAT growth of 6 per cent, 12.9 per cent, and 13.3 per cent year-on-year for FY26E, and 7.8 per cent, 9 per cent, and 10.1 per cent year-on-year for FY27E, respectively. Systematix suggests that top investment picks include Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), GAIL India Ltd (GAIL), Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL), and Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd (GOLI). According to the research, the market suffered from significant volatility with declining crude prices countered by a robust rebound in refining margins. Last month, Brent crude prices fell by 22.9 per cent year-on-year and 3.8 per cent month-on-month in May 2025, influenced by increased OPEC supply from nations like Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Additionally, Global liquid demand also saw a sharp drop before a slight recovery. The lower crude prices contributed to a decline in US rig counts, reflecting cautious upstream investment. Contrary to this, the benchmark Gross Refining Margin (GRM) of companies surged by 85 per cent month-on-month and 121 per cent year-on-year, averaging $6.4/bbl. This significant improvement stemmed from lower crude input costs and enhanced product cracks across gasoline, gasoil, jet, kero, and naphtha segments, all showing strong month-on-month improvements. Furthermore, Natural gas prices presented mixed trends. Henry Hub prices in the US corrected sharply by 31.8 per cent since January 2025 due to oversupply and mild weather. Conversely, Asian spot LNG (Japan Korea Marker) prices rose 6.7 per cent year-on-year to $11.9/mmbtu, driven by regional demand. In the fourth quarter of FY25, the aggregate earnings for the oil and gas sector saw a slight year-on-year decline but a sequential increase, with gas and City Gas Distribution (CGD) companies generally reporting revenues above estimates. While EBITDA/scm for CGD companies declined year-on-year, they showed sequential rebounds driven by price hikes and favourable gas price mix.
