CM Punk could have shaken the very core of the wrestling world with a move he nearly made.
The professional wrestling fans had to wait for a decade to see CM Punk back in
WWE
. The Best in the World made a shocking resurgence at the end of the 2023 WWE Survivor Series Premium Live Event.
Since then, he has been a top fixture for their television programming and major PLEs.
However, it could have been a completely different scenario had Punk decided to make a different decision. In fact, he was close to exploring a different direction, as revealed by a top veteran.
What decision was CM Punk nearly about to make regarding his wrestling career?
Former TNA President Scott D'Amore reflected back at the time he was negotiating with CM Punk to sign him to TNA Wrestling. This was after his exit from AEW in the summer of 2023.
D'Amore revealed that Punk was a thorough professional during that time and was interested in joining the promotion. However, things did not formalize and Punk ultimately returned to WWE. D'Amore spoke about this in his D'Amore Drop column on Yahoo! Sports' Uncrowned.
He said, "It wasn't a well-kept secret that I tried to sign Phil to TNA after things with AEW fell apart. I knew it was a long shot, I knew I was asking him to work in smaller arenas than he had in a long time.

He listened; he was interested. He never big-timed TNA once, and he conducted himself the way we'd all wish a professional would. Ultimately, he went back to WWE, which, of course, is where he belongs."
CM Punk in TNA Wrestling could have been a game-changer for the wrestling promotion and would have sent shockwaves across the industry landscape. However, that route can still be explored now that WWE and TNA have entered into a multi-year agreement for talent exchange and collaborations. Moreover, CM Punk himself was seen recently training with TNA World Champion Joe Hendry. So it will be interesting to see if WWE chooses to let Punk make a one-off appearance in TNA Wrestling moving forward.

AB De Villiers was present at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where on Tuesday, June 3, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs to win the IPL 2025 title. In the summit clash played in front of more than 90000 fans, after being invited to bat first by PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer, RCB rode on Virat Kohli's 43-run knock to post a total of 190 runs on the board for the loss of nine wickets. The 191-run target wasn't a big one, but thanks to Krunal Pandya's super show with the ball, RCB successfully managed to defend it by restricting PBKS to 184/7 despite Shashank Singh's fifty.

While the celebration was all about the team's long-awaited triumph, it was the emotional embrace between and that truly stole the spotlight. Moments after the win, Virat spoke to , who highlighted the deeply moving moment he shared with his wife. 'For all the joy that you've given, the moment which will stay etched in my memory is your eyes overflowing with emotion and you hugging your better half. She stood by you, thick and thin,' said Sidhu. Kohli, clearly moved, responded, '100%. She's been coming here, supporting RCB since 2014. So it's been 11 years for her as well — relentlessly coming to games, watching us just miss out. What your life partner does for you — the sacrifices, the commitment — backing you through thick and thin, is something you can't explain in words.' He further added that only professional players truly understand what partners endure off the field. 'What Anushka has gone through emotionally, watching me being down and out… She's a Bangalore girl too. This is very, very special for her, and she's going to be so, so proud.' As the final ball was bowled and RCB's historic win was sealed, Anushka sprinted to the ground and wrapped Virat in a tight hug. Kohli broke down in her arms, sobbing tears of joy as she gently consoled him, brushing his head and holding him close. In a tender moment of gratitude, he kissed her forehead — a quiet celebration of love, resilience, and shared dreams. Her pained reaction to Kohli's dismissal quickly went viral, reflecting the emotional toll the game took on her too. Moments later, her joy knew no bounds as she jumped in celebration, joined by her family. Virat and Anushka's journey together began in 2013 on the sets of a commercial shoot. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Italy in December 2017 and are now proud parents to daughter (born January 2021) and son Akaay (born February 2024).
