The US Air Force wants Bongos and Tesla Cybertrucks… for target practice

The United States Air Force wants 33 vehicles so it can test its 'Standoff Precision Guided Munition'. Basically, it wants a load of cars it can safely blow up for target practice.
Only, among that load of cars it can safely blow up for target practice, the United States Air Force has specifically – and rather hilariously – called out two models it wants in particular: Mazda's glorious Bongo, and the Tesla Cybertruck.

Yes, the US Air Force wants to use the Tesla Cybertruck as target practice.
Why? Because, as the documentation states, 'in the operating theatre it is likely the type of vehicles used by the enemy may transition to Tesla Cybertrucks as they have been found not to receive the normal extent of damage expected upon major impact'. You might like
And lo, 'testing needs to mirror real world situations'.
Explaining why only Tesla's pointy electric leviathan was singled out, the USAF said it undertook market research earlier this year and found the Cybertruck's 'aggressively angular and futuristic design, paired with its unpainted stainless steel exoskeleton, sets it apart from competitors using painted steel or aluminium bodies'. Basically, there's nothing else quite like it.

It did note that it doesn't mind a little 'bumper damage' on the Cybertrucks to be supplied, but it does require the removal of the car's giant battery prior to being blown into oblivion.
Other cars the USAF wants as part of the 33 cars include saloons, SUVs, and regular pickups. Why the Bongo trucks, though? Looking for more from the USA?

Cadillac set to name their first-ever F1 driver as they turn to unemployed six-time Grand Prix winner, 35, to lead team
SERGIO PEREZ is edging closer to signing a deal with new F1 side Cadillac. The General Motors backed team will make its debut on the grid in 2026 and are yet to announce their line up. 1 Mexican driver Perez has not been in the paddock this season after he was axed by Red Bull last December. But talks are ramping up with Cadillac and a deal could be announced in the coming weeks. Perez's Red Bull exit came after a run of woeful results where he failed to make a podium in his final 19 races. In April Perez made it clear he had spoken to a handful of teams and said: "We are talking to a few parties out there. "Once I know all my options, I will make a decision. What is very clear to me is that I'm only coming back if the project makes sense, and it's something I can enjoy." Perez is a hot prospect given he is a six-time race winner and brings strong commercial appeal in Mexico. The 35-year-old is also backed by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim. Perez has reportedly held talks with Alpine with Franco Colapinto struggling to hit the ground running. Mercedes reserve driver Valtteri Bottas is said to be a favourite for the other Cadillac seat. , having been out of F1 for three-years.

Popular Ring rival launches first ‘double-camera' with patrols, ‘track mode' & 100dB super-siren to catch intruders
A POPULAR smart camera brand has launched its first "panning" double-camera for your porch. The Ring rival promises to scan for intruders and even follow them to protect your property. 6 And the new Wyze Duo Cam Pan even has a built-in siren to scare off would-be trespassers. Most home cameras come with a single snapper that gives a general view of your front garden. But this new model has two cameras that allow for a special kind of monitoring. "One stays fixed on your priority view while the other pans and tilts to track motion," Wyze explains. The idea is that the second camera can move to follow motion, eliminating any potential blindspots. It serves up video in 2K HD resolution, and there's colour night vision too. Wyze says this "unveils stunning details in low-light conditions that even the human eye can't catch". And if you want, you can set the camera up to trigger two motion-activated spotlights when motion is detected. These LED lights can even be accompanied by an automatic voice alert if you like. There's even the option to activate a loud 100dB siren that can scare off an intruder. Amazon reveals cheap Ring doorbell alternative that works with Alexa devices and has a two year battery life The moving camera can rotate a full 360 degrees so it can pan to any angle. And it can also tilt up and down at 180 degrees, so it shouldn't miss anything in line of sight from your door. You can even set up a virtual "patrol route" with four waypoints for panning. So it almost works like a security guard. Of course, the camera isn't just for scaring away intruders. 6 6 You can use it to speak to guests – or call your kids in for dinner from the front garden. A subscription will let you back up your video to the cloud. But you can also continuously record to a microSD card (up to 512GB) on a 24/7 basis with no subscription. Wyze says that this would be equivalent to "days" of local recording footage. 6 And there's also support for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant so you can control the camera remotely with your voice. Or you can just use the dedicated Wyze app on your iPhone or Android too. The new model is out in September this year for $69.98 in the US. UK pricing hasn't been confirmed but Wyze cameras are available on Amazon UK. It also comes with 30 days of free Wyze Cam Plus access, which includes unlimited event video storage plus notifications for people, packages and vehicles. 6
