'Due to an unfortunate injury to my knee during training a few days back, I've had to put a pause on my season,' Jyothi said.
'I'm working with my medical team to assess my options and will make a decision on the way forward. Injuries are part of an athlete's journey and I'm viewing this as just another hurdle I'm going to overcome soon. With all your support and blessings I'll be back stronger,' she added.
This isn't the first time injuries have disrupted Jyothi's rise as one of the country's most promising track athletes in recent years. The national record holder had suffered a hip flexor damage during training in Finland after the Paris Olympics.

'Administrators Are Brought In To...': Sunil Gavaskar Slams ECB For Snubbing Sachin Tendulkar, James Anderson In Trophy Presentation Of IND vs ENG Test Series
Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has criticised the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for not inviting Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson to present the trophy named after them, after the end of India vs 2025 England Test series. The newly minted Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series played between India and England ended in a 2-2 draw. However, neither Tendulkar nor Anderson were present during the trophy presentation ceremony despite both being in England at that time. The 76-year-old Gavaskar questioned ECB's conduct and drew parallels to what happened earlier in the year in Australia, where he was not included in the presentation ceremony and it was just Allan Border who presented the trophy at the end of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. "This was the first-ever series named after Sachin Tendulkar and Jimmy Anderson, two of cricket's greatest legends. One would have expected both to be present to hand the trophy to the two captains, especially since the series ended in a draw," Gavaskar wrote in his column in the Sportstar. "To the best of one's knowledge, both were in England at the time. So, were they simply not invited? Or was this similar to what happened in Australia earlier this year, when only Allan Border was asked to present the Border-Gavaskar Trophy because Australia had won the series? Since this England series was drawn, perhaps neither was asked to attend the presentation," he added. The legendary batter was also not pleased with the practice of giving the newly instated Pataudi medal to the winning captain of the series instead of the player of the series. Notably, India captain Shubman Gill and England skipper Ben Stokes were both given a medal each with the series drawn 2-2. "Mostly around the world, administrators are brought in to ensure profits and are quite good at it, but they may not have much knowledge about the history of the sport they are presiding over. So, these little gestures are not in their scheme of things. Nobody from the Pataudi family was there either, for the Pataudi Medal, which was to be presented to the winning team's captain," Gavaskar wrote. "The drawn series showed how foolish this idea was of trying to make amends to the Pataudis by retiring the trophy named after them. Every time the series is drawn, the medal can't be presented, can it? Wouldn't it be better, therefore, to award the medal to the Man of the Series rather than the winning team's captain? And what if the captain himself had an ordinary series and little impact on the result? If there had been a result and the Pataudi Medal had to be given to the Man of the Series, it would have been a tough choice, for both skippers were simply outstanding," he added.

Team India captain Shubman Gill gets MASSIVE honour after success on England Test tour, he has been…
Shubman Gill has been picked as ICC Player of the Month of July 2025. (Photo: ANI) Team India skipper Shubman Gill is enjoying a golden run at the moment – first as a batter and then as a captain. Gill ended up as the leading run-getter in the five-match Test series against England – his maiden one as Test captain – scoring 754 runs in them. He became the Indian captain with the most runs in a Test series, surpassing the great Sunil Gavaskar and just missed out on the record of legendary Sir Donald Bradman. Gill then led India to a remarkable six-run win over England in the fifth and final Test at the Oval in London earlier to this month to level the series at 2-2 and share the 'Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy' with England captain Ben Stokes. Gill's remarkable last month with Team meant that the Indian captain and England batter Sophia Dunkley have been declared the ICC men's and women's Players of the Month for July 2025 following an elaborate process that included votes from an esteemed selection panel as well as those of fans worldwide. Setting new standards with the bat 👌 Capping off an incredible summer in whites is the ICC Men's Player of the Month for July 2025 🌟 — ICC (@ICC) August 12, 2025 Shubman Gill creates a new ICC record Gill became the first male player to win the 'Player of the Month' award four times after a stupendous run in England saw him score 567 runs at an average of 94.50 in the three Tests played in July. His previous ICC Player of the Month awards were in January 2023, September 2023 and February 2025. Two women players – Ash Gardner and Hayley Matthews – have won the award four times each. The highlight for Gill during this period was his aggregate of 430 runs in the second Test in Birmingham, the second highest ever in a Test match. His scores of 269 and 161 in that Test helped level the series 1-1 and he also chipped in with a useful 103 in the second innings of the fourth Test in Manchester that helped draw the match and keep the series alive. The Indian skipper, who won the award ahead of his England counterpart Ben Stokes and South Africa all-rounder Wiaan Mulder, said he was hoping to continue his good form in the season ahead. Gill ended up with 4 hundreds in the series and an average of 75.4 with a career-best score of 269 in the second Test at Edgbaston. 'It feels great to be named the ICC Player of the Month for July. This time it holds a lot more significance since it has come for my performances during my first Test series as captain,' Gill was quoted as saying by the ICC. 'The double ton in Birmingham is obviously something I will cherish forever and will be one of the highlights of my tour to England. The Test series against England was a learning experience for me as captain and we had some outstanding performances from both sides, which I am sure players from both sides will remember for a long time,' the Indian captain added. 'I would like to thank the jury for selecting me for this award and my teammates who have been with me during the course of this exciting series. I look forward to continuing my form in the season ahead and bring more laurels for the country.' Sophia Dunkley edges out Sophie Ecclestone England batter Dunkley edged her team-mate Sophie Ecclestone and Ireland captain Gaby Lewis for the award, showing a fine run during this period in ODIs as well as T20Is. She played in all seven matches at home against India across the two formats, aggregating 126 runs in three ODIs and 144 runs at a strike-rate of 134.57 in four T20Is. Dunkley was England's leading scorer in the T20I series and smashed a superb 92-ball 83 in the first ODI in Southampton. 'I am delighted to win the ICC Player of the Month award off the back of a really hard-fought series against India,' Dunkley said. 'We would have loved to have won the series, but I think we'll take a lot from it moving towards the ICC Women's World Cup. India deserved their win, and it was a great series to be a part of.'

HomeLane Get Quote India had lost a match against South Africa and tied a game against England in the 2011 World Cup and the team was slammed by fans. However, the players were instructed by the great Sachin Tendulkar and Gary Kirsten to focus on their game and not on the news. "I will give you an example of what we felt at that time. Until then, no country had won the World Cup at home, and it had been 28 years since we won a World Cup. I remember we tied the game against England and we lost to South Africa, from a winning position. We got a lot of backlash," Yuvraj said during the event. Live Events "I remember Sachin Tendulkar and coach Gary Kirsten coming and having a chat with us - 'From here on what are the things we need to do to win the tournament - no one is going to watch TV; no one is going to read the newspaper; when you walk towards the ground put your headphones on, to focus on the field. While going back to your room, put your headphones back on. Cut the noise and try to do what you need to do to win the tournament," he added. The advice from the greats worked in India's favour as they went on to reach the final and defeat Sri Lanka to lift the title after 28 years.
