"It's Always Challenging...": Moeen Ali's Mega Statement On Mohammed Siraj's Exploits vs England
Former England cricketer Moeen Ali heaped praise on India's Mohammed Siraj for his remarkable performance in the recently concluded series against England and said the bowler has made big strides towards being a complete bowler in international cricket. The England tour marked one of Siraj's finest outings in Test cricket, topping the wicket-charts with 23 wickets and running throughout the series like a warrior for over 185 overs, undeterred, never tired. While the pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah played only three Tests owing to his workload management, it was Siraj who unleashed his 'Miyan Magic' when his beloved 'Jassi Bhai' needed some rest. "Siraj has been outstanding in the England series. The energy, aggression, and consistency he brings with the ball is world-class. He's matured into a genuine match-winner for India, and it's always a challenge for batsmen facing him," stated Moeen Ali to ANI. "What impresses me most is his ability to control the ball. He has got a big heart and never backs down -- that is what makes him so special. Credit to him for the impact he's making," added Ali. Ali has retired from international cricket and is exploring his cricketing abilities in Dubai, where he now resides. With 6,678 runs, eight centuries and 366 wickets in 298 international appearances, Moeen was one of England's biggest match-winners of this generation and recently featured in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) tournament, scoring 43 runs across three innings, but failing to pick up a wicket. "Moeen was a great cricketer and did well in the recent WCL tournament. It was a pleasure to welcome Moeen Ali to our London office. He's not only a world-class sportsman but also a thoughtful individual. We're excited to assist him in finding a property that reflects his taste and values," said Irfan Wahid, CEO of GFS Developments. Moeen, while not playing for England, will continue being active in the T20 league circuit.

13 Batters To Score More Runs Than Shubman Gill In A Test Series

The 25-year-old right-handed batter from Punjab played in all five matches and, with the help of four centuries, amassed a total of 754 runs. During the series, Gill broke multiple batting records, which includes him being the highest run scorer in a Test series played between India and England. Gill's tally of 754 runs helped him enter his name in the record books, but there are 13 players who have scored more runs in a Test series than Gill (someone even multiple times). Shubman Gill nominated for ICC's Player of the Month award after England heroics
India captain Shubman Gill has been named among the three nominees for the ICC Men's Player of the Month award for July, following a series of commanding performances with the bat during the recently-concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against 25-year-old, leading India for the first time in a Test series, enjoyed a month to remember as he guided a young and relatively inexperienced Indian side to a commendable 2-2 draw on English soil. Gill, who batted at No.4 throughout the five-match series, produced a string of memorable innings that not only underlined his growing stature in world cricket but also saw him break multiple long-standing the three July Tests alone, Gill amassed 567 runs at an extraordinary average of 94.50. His standout performance came during India's historic win at Edgbaston, where he scored a magnificent 269 in the first innings and followed it up with a fluent 161 in the second. The combined tally of 430 runs in that Test is the second-highest match aggregate by a batter in the history of the format, behind only Graham Gooch's 456 against India in 1990. Gill's purple patch continued at Old Trafford in the penultimate Test, where he struck a defiant second-innings century (103) under pressure to help India escape a draw. That knock proved crucial in keeping the series alive going into the final Test at The Oval, which India went on to win by six runs to square the the five Tests, Gill finished with 754 runs at an average of 75.40 - the highest by an Indian captain in a five-Test series, breaking Sunil Gavaskar's record of 732 runs set during the 1971 tour of the West Indies. In the broader context of Test history, only the legendary Sir Donald Bradman (810 runs in the 1936-37 Ashes) has scored more runs as a captain in a five-match Test ICC, in its announcement, hailed Gill's consistency and composure at the pivotal No.4 position, particularly highlighting how he has seamlessly stepped into the role once held by Virat Kohli. "His consistency at No.4, carrying on the baton from all-time great Virat Kohli, provided stability and flair in equal measure, and combined with his extraordinary captaincy in his debut series," the ICC ability to score big under pressure, especially when wickets were tumbling around him, played a vital role in India's ability to mount comebacks throughout the hard-fought series. His shot selection, temperament and match awareness were lauded by former cricketers and pundits alike, with many describing his performances as a coming-of-age moment in Test Africa's Wiaan Mulder is the second nominee on the list - and rightly so, after a month that saw him etch his name into the record books. Leading the Proteas in a two-Test series against Zimbabwe, Mulder produced a monumental unbeaten 367 in the second Test at Bulawayo - the highest individual score in South African Test history. He amassed a staggering 531 runs across the two matches at an average of 265.50. With the ball, too, Mulder made a telling impact, picking up seven wickets at just over 15 apiece, including a four-wicket haul in the series captain Ben Stokes rounds off the nominations after a typically all-round showing in the Tests against India. The talismanic all-rounder scored 251 runs at 50.20 and picked up 12 wickets at 26.33 in July, while also playing a pivotal leadership role in a closely contested series. Stokes was named Player of the Match in successive Tests - first at Lord's, where he delivered a match-winning all-round performance, and again at Old Trafford, where his counter-attacking 141 and five-wicket haul showcased his ability to turn the tide in high-pressure ICC praised Stokes' ability to influence matches with both bat and ball, stating: "His leadership proved crucial in maintaining England's intensity and belief in a closely contested series. With ball in hand, he bowled long spells, often breaking key partnerships and turning the tide in England's favour."The winner of the ICC Player of the Month award for July will be decided through a combination of global fan votes and an independent ICC voting academy, which includes former players, journalists and broadcasters from across the cricketing world.- EndsTune InYou May Also Like
