Hype Malaysiaa day ago
On 18th August 2025 (Monday), fans across the globe celebrate the 37th birthday of Korean superstar G-Dragon (지드래곤). While in most cases, the fans are the ones giving the gifts, the singer was the one who was more generous on his special day.
In commemoration of his birthday, G-Dragon reportedly prepared two birthday events for his fans. Last week, the star had prepaid for 14 cafes across South Korea to offer 188 free drinks each throughout his birthday week, totalling 2,632 drinks. Later on his birthday, his fan club shared about a special 'Pink Spaceman' event that will take place around Hongdae and Hangang.
For the event, a mysterious man dressed in a pink spacesuit walked around the two areas, handing out daisies for those who knew the special 'code name'. Daisies are flowers closely associated with G-Dragon and are even the motif for his lightstick. As such, fans in the area made time to find the pink spaceman to grab a daisy for themselves. However, upon meeting the spaceman, many were convinced that the man in the suit was G-Dragon.
One fan explained, 'I think the Pink (Space)Man is GD. 1. His height is similar (to GD), 2. His dance moves stood out, 3. When I called 'Jiyong', he looked back automatically.' Unfortunately, the suit's helmet did too good a job at concealing the man's identity, and G-Dragon also never clarified the rumours. Nevertheless, fans are praising the BIGBANG (빅뱅) leader for preparing the event, even walking around in the suit to celebrate his birthday with fans.
Besides the two events, G-Dragon was also featured in two new projects on his birthday. The rapper was featured in Vince's (빈스) new song, 'CHA CHA CHA (차차차)', and a video on comedian Yoo Byung Jae's (유병재) YouTube channel. At the same time, BIGBANG is also celebrating their 19th anniversary today (19th August 2025), with fans from all over the world chiming in with congratulatory messages for the K-pop group.
Even on his birthday, G-Dragon can't hide his generosity and love for fans. We can't wait to see what the star has in store for fans in the future. In the meantime, check out his featuring on 'CHA CHA CHA' and his appearance on Yoo Byung Jae's YouTube video:

#SHOWBIZ: Jimmy Kimmel reveals Matt Damon nearly choked to death at his home

LOS ANGELES: Matt Damon narrowly avoided a life-threatening incident during dinner at Jimmy Kimmel's house, after choking on a spare rib that became lodged in his throat for nearly 90 minutes. The late-night host recalled the frightening moment in an interview with Variety, saying the 54-year-old actor had arrived hungry and began eating quickly before the rib got stuck. "He came late, was very hungry, and started eating fast. He started choking on a pork rib. It was stuck in his throat for about an hour and a half," Jimmy, 57, explained. The comedian admitted he panicked at the thought of Damon possibly dying under his roof. "His brother was there. I said, 'We've got to get him to the hospital, because if he dies in my house, I'm going to prison for the rest of my life. I'll never be able to explain this as anything other than a murder.'" Despite repeated attempts, the Heimlich manoeuvre proved unsuccessful. Desperate for a solution, they turned to YouTube tutorials and eventually discovered that eating small pieces of bread might help. The unconventional method worked, with Damon finally able to swallow the rib. "Bread saved him," Kimmel said. "We tried the Heimlich many times. It was too far down." The incident adds another twist to the pair's long-running comedic 'feud,' which began in 2005 when Kimmel joked at the end of his show, "Apologies to Matt Damon, but we ran out of time." Since then, their playful rivalry has included red-carpet banter and Sarah Silverman's viral parody song "I'm [expletive] Matt Damon."

(Video) Aubrey Plaza Opens Up About Husband's Death & How She's Dealing With Grief

American actress Aubrey Plaza had a tragic start to 2025 due to the death of her husband, Jeff Baena, in January 2025. Months later, the star opened up about her loss and how she views her grief. The actress recently appeared on an episode of the 'Good Hang' podcast, hosted by her 'Parks and Recreation' co-star, Amy Poehler. In the episode, Aubrey and Amy discussed various topics. However, the interview started on a solemn note, with Amy asking how Aubrey is doing since the tragic death of her husband, Jeff. Jeff Baena died on 3rd January 2025 at the age of 47 after committing suicide at his Los Angeles home. Aubrey and Jeff had been together since 2011 and got married in 2021. While reports say the pair had quietly separated in September 2024, the two were still married at the time of Jeff's death. Responding to Amy's question, Aubrey said, 'Right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you. Overall, I'm here and I'm functioning. I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think I'm okay, but it's like a daily struggle, obviously.' The actress then touched on grieving, likening it to the movie 'The Gorge'. She explained, 'In the movie, there's a cliff on one side and a cliff on the other side, and a gorge in between that's filled with monster people trying to get them.' The actress continued, saying, 'I swear when I watched it I was like, 'That feels like what my grief is like,' or what grief could be like. At all times, there's a giant ocean of awfulness that's right there, and I can see it.' Aubrey added, 'Sometimes I just want to dive into it and be in it, and sometimes I look at it. Sometimes I try to get away from it. But it's always there, and the monster people are trying to get me, like Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy.' Aubrey and Amy then moved on to other topics, including Aubrey's start in acting and comedy. Reacting to the video, many netizens and fans commended Aubrey's vulnerability and how Amy approached the situation. The actress is preparing to make her first comeback since her husband's death, alongside Margaret Qualley in 'Honey Don't'. We wish her the best in her project, and we hope to see more of her soon.
