Kalamazoo County man plays "scratch-off roulette," wins $1 million jackpot
A Kalamazoo County man played "scratch-off roulette" and won a $1 million jackpot playing the Michigan Lottery's 50X instant game.
The 59-year-old man, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at Ziggy's, located at 5384 North Riverview Drive in Kalamazoo.
"I play what I like to call 'scratch-off roulette,' where I buy a bunch of different scratch-off tickets and then scratch the barcodes and scan them to see if I won," said the lucky player. "When I scanned this 50X ticket, I got a message to contact the Lottery, so I scratched off the play area.
"When I saw I matched number 1, I thought, 'A $1 million prize would be nice!' Then I scratched off the prize amount and was in shock when I saw I'd actually won $1 million! Winning is freeing, life-changing, and still setting in."
The man elected to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of about $694,000. He plans to save his winnings so that his wife can retire early.
"This lucky player cashed in on our 50X instant game, which is part of the Multiplier family of instant games. Instant game families are popular among our players and help drive sales and increase our contribution to the School Aid Fund," said Michigan Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli in a news release. "Congratulations to the player on his big win and to his wife on an early retirement!"
Since the 50X instant game launched in February, players have won more than $16 million, according to the Michigan Lottery. Each $10 ticket gives players the chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $1 million. More than $45 million in prizes remain up for grabs, including a pair of $1 million top prizes.

Michigan woman who's "usually not very lucky" wins $412K lotto jackpot
An Osceola County woman who says she's "usually not very lucky" won a $412,171 Club Keno The Jack prize from the Michigan Lottery. Donna Keathley, 65, of Evart, purchased her winning ticket at Murphy's Bar, located at 32 East Northern Avenue in Barryton. It was Keathley's first time playing The Jack. "I play Club Keno often, but I've never played The Jack," said Keathley in a statement. "I decided to add it on to my ticket that day because the jackpot was up there and to try something new. "Shortly after buying my ticket, I saw someone had won because the jackpot reset to $10,000. We were with a group of people, and they scanned their tickets first. I scanned mine last, and there it was – $412,171! It was shocking and pretty surreal because I'm usually not very lucky." With her winnings, Keathley plans to pay bills and then save the rest. The Jack is an add-on game to Club Keno that allows players to add to their Club Keno wager at $1 per draw. Players can win prizes ranging from $1 up to the jackpot, which begins at $10,000 and continues growing until it's won. Players must match all nine numbers to win the jackpot.

Where man found $2.1m Lotto ticket
A six-month search has ended after the lucky winner of a multimillion-dollar lottery draw has been found. Hailing from Wonthaggi in Victoria's South Gippsland region, the man found the winning ticket in a Christmas card. His wife had slipped the ticket – worth $2.1m – into the card, but it went unchecked for months as he said 'life got in the way'. 'My wife always buys a lottery ticket for everyone in the family for Christmas,' he explained. 'We'd been away on holiday for a month over summer, and with everything else going on when we got back, I completely forgot about the ticket. 'I only thought the other day that I should check the ticket. I couldn't believe it. 'Things like this never happen to us.' He said the experience was 'very surreal' and he looked forward to sharing the winnings with his loved ones. 'We're going to divide it within the family; share the prize around and help others,' he said. 'It will help many people.' The Lott had been searching for the ticket holder since the Christmas draw, but the entry was unregistered, so they had no way of contacting him. The $2.1m windfall is part of a 14-way split from the $30m megadraw, with the money carved up among the division one winners. There were six winners each in Victoria and NSW and two in Queensland. The ticket was purchased from Lucky Lotto Wonthaggi Plaza, whose operators were thrilled to have sold a winning ticket. 'We were so excited to have sold a division one winning entry and make someone's dreams come true. Even better to hear the winner has now discovered their multimillion-dollar prize,' said Gio, one of the owners.'Before this division one winning entry, we hadn't sold a division one winning entry since 31 January, 2022. This is our fifth division one prize sold over an 11-year period.' Error in retrieving data Sign in to access your portfolio Error in retrieving data
