Pete Davidson says his ‘BDE' reputation, sexualization in media took an emotional toll
The 'Saturday Night Live' alumnus told 'The Breakfast Club' on Wednesday that he was 'embarrassed' by the way his personal life crowded out his work.
'I brought a lot of pop culture into [SNL], like, I made it sort of like tabloid-y, like trendy thing unintentionally. … No one talked about any work I was doing,' the 31-year-old father-to-be said. 'They were just like, 'Oh, that's the f— stick.'
The 'Bupkis' star began his 'SNL' career in 2014, when he was only 20, then spent eight seasons on the late-night sketch comedy show. After leaving in 2022, he came back a year later to host the show.
His dating life dominated the headlines during his time on 'SNL.' Davidson dated singer Ariana Grande, actor Kate Beckinsale, model Kaia Gerber, actor Madelyn Cline and reality TV star Kim Kardashian.
The Grande and Kardashian periods attracted the most attention of course, with the singer hinting at Davidson's alleged 'BDE' and the reality mogul saying later that she was up for some of that amid her divorce from Ye — then known as Kanye West. The rapper, by the way, was not pleased with his ex's rebound entanglement. (BDE is short for 'big d— energy.')
'I don't want to victimize myself in any way because I'm cool, but the sexualization of me, if that was a girl, you know, [there would] be a march for it,' Davidson said.
He said the attention his track record brought affected his dating life and made him 'sad.'
In July, the 'King of Staten Island' star revealed that his current girlfriend, British model and actor Elsie Hewitt, is expecting their first child. She posted a series of pictures of the two of them on social media, including a shot of an ultrasound and video of her getting the scan done.
Her caption: 'welp now everyone knows we had sex.'

19 Celebs Who Became Famous Much Later In Life
Youth is a hot currency in Hollywood, which makes it all the more remarkable when celebrities find success later in life (even if that "later" would be considered young in other industries). Here are some celebs who prove that hard work pays off. Pedro Pascal Pedro Pascal is a hot commodity right now, at 50 years old — but he nearly quit acting multiple times throughout his 20s and 30s. It wasn't until he landed the role of Oberyn Martell on Game of Thrones when he was in his late 30s that his career really started to take off. Leslie Jones Leslie Jones worked for years to build her stand-up comedy career before she scored a spot on the cast of Saturday Night Live at the age of 47 — becoming the oldest person to join the show as a cast member. Morgan Freeman It seems like Morgan Freeman has been old his whole career — perhaps because he got his big break at age 50, in the movie Street Smart. Before that, he had primarily worked as a stage actor. Jane Lynch Jane Lynch plugged away in minor roles for years and years in films like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, but only became a household name when she landed her breakthrough role of Sue Sylvester in Glee at the age of 49. Samuel L. Jackson Samuel L. Jackson's roles were mostly small for the first part of his acting career, and his profile didn't increase until he was in his 40s. While he appeared in Jungle Fever, Jurassic Park and True Romance, it wasn't until he starred in Pulp Fiction at age 45 that he became a household name. Alan Rickman Alan Rickman was a graphic designer before he decided to pursue acting professionally in his mid-20s. He performed roles in theatre productions and TV for several years, but his breakthrough — and first film — role was as villain Hans Gruber in Die Hard, when he was 42. Ken Jeong Ken Jeong worked as an actual doctor for years, doing bit parts and comedy on the side, when he scored the role of an on-screen doctor in Knocked Up when he was in his late 30s. It was then that he transitioned from medicine to a full-time screen career. Viola Davis Viola Davis had a steady stage career and plenty of minor film and TV roles over the years, but her star really rose when she had a scene-stealing role in the movie Doubt at the age of 43. Steve Carell Steve Carell worked steadily in comedy roles — mainly on late night TV — for years, but he hit the big time and became famous in his 40s when he starred in Anchorman, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and, of course, The Office. Harrison Ford Harrison Ford was famously working as a carpenter to support himself through his early acting career — right up until he landed his big break as Han Solo in Star Wars at the age of 35. Kathy Bates While Kathy Bates already had a successful stage career and had had several on-screen roles, it was her breakout role in the movie Misery when she was 42 that really brought her widespread fame. John Mahoney John Mahoney worked as a teacher and then an editor of a medical journal before he decided to seriously pursue acting in his late 30s. He found success on stage before scoring some small but memorable TV and movie roles, and then achieving widespread recognition as Martin Crane in Frasier at the age of 53. Bryan Cranston Bryan Cranston steadily built up his acting career over the years, taking on plenty of small roles before landing the leading role of Hal on Malcolm in the Middle when he was in his mid-40s, which really put him on the Hollywood map. Ty Burrell Another actor made famous in a dad role, Ty Burrell was a largely unkown actor — having had a string of pretty minor roles — prior to being cast as Phil Dunphy on Modern Family, on which he became one of the standout characters. He was in his early 40s at the time. Octavia Spencer In her early career, Octavia Spencer had many minor roles on screen, but when she starred as Minny in The Help she became a household name at the age of 40. Martha Stewart Her name is now synonymous with lifestyle content, but Martha Stewart worked as a stockbroker and then ran a catering company before she published her first cookbook Entertaining at age 41, which launched her lifestyle entertainment empire. Jon Hamm Jon Hamm was struggling so much to make acting work that he nearly quit. Good thing he didn't, because he finally landed the role that would make his career — the lead, Don Draper in Mad Men — when he was in his mid-30s. Tim Allen The dad effect strikes again. Tim Allen had been working primarily in stand-up comedy when he was cast in the lead role in the family sitcom Home Improvement. He was in his late 30s at the time. Bea Arthur Bea Arthur achieved a lot of success on stage, but it was her breakthrough role at the age of 49 playing Maude Findlay in All in the Family and its spin-off, centred on her, called Maude, that really made her famous.

Kristen Wiig & Bill Hader Offended Taylor Swift in SNL's Hysterical Hollywood Dish
When Taylor Swift embarks on the press tour to promote her new album The Life of a Showgirl, it's safe to say she won't be visiting "Hollywood Dish." When Swift hosted Saturday Night Live in Season 35 on November 7, 2009, she was just two weeks away from the 2009 American Music Awards, where she was the most-nominated artist. It was also just two months after the VMAs, when Kanye West interrupted her acceptance speech for Best Female Video. Swift's huge year included this sketch from her double-duty episode, in which she met chaotic celebrity interviewers Brady Trunk (Bill Hader) and Anastasia Sticks (Kristen Wiig). As the sketch starts, Swift immediately claims to be a big fan of Brady, Anastasia, and their Hollywood Dish show. They're flattered, but not flattered enough to go easy on the singer."Six American Music Award nominations. Not bad!" may seem like an innocuous beginning, but Swift is quickly thrown by Brady and Anastasia's unnerving facial expressions and synchronized head movements. "I'm sorry, is everything okay?" Swift asks. "It's just you're nodding a lot, and I thought maybe you were trying to tell me something." "Oh, no, no, no! We just don't want to talk while you're talking," Wiig's character explains. "It'll screw up the sound," Brady adds. "We just do that so you know we're engaged." Ever the amiable guest, Swift plays Swift kept her composure while Bill Hader spit in Kristen Wiig's face Problem is, those active listening facial expressions get a thousand times worse. As Swift shares her nerves about performing live, they mime screaming. When she shares that she feels pretty good about winning at the AMAs, they shake their heads and whisper to each other. "What do you think about Ellen joining American Idol?" Brady asks. "American Idol? I don't really watch it, honestly," she admits — whereupon Hader spits his full beverage in Wiig's face. From there, they smear lipstick on their faces, eat ice cream, and even fall asleep as Swift tries to answer their questions, then leaves when it all becomes too much. Of course, that's not what the final edit shows. Watch "Hollywood Dish" from Season 35, Episode 5 above, and stream every season of Saturday Night Live on Peacock anytime."Hollywood Dish" aired two more times with Jennifer Lopez and Scarlett Johansson Swift starred in the first iteration of "Hollywood Dish," but Anastasia and Brady returned twice in 2010 to interview Jennifer Lopez and Scarlett Johansson. They drove both stars to breakdowns, and they've never conducted another interview since, so it's not a stretch to imagine that they might have finally been fired. Hollywood Dish with Scarlett Johansson Swift has only hosted that one time, but that episode resulted in plenty of memorable moments. In Digital Short "Firelight," Swift channeled Kristen Stewart's Bella Swan in a romance with one of Frankenstein's monsters, played by Hader. She also debuted her impression of Kate Gosselin in a parody of The View, complete with a wig that will be hard to unsee. Solve the daily Crossword
