PSG plan huge squad clearout before new season
Comprehensive PSG squad overhaul underway as 'loft' players face exit
Behind the scenes, PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos is orchestrating a comprehensive squad overhaul, with nine players identified for potential departure. The club has designated several players as 'loft' category members, effectively training them separately from the main squad as they seek new destinations.
Players facing uncertain futures include Randal Kolo Muani, Marco Asensio, Carlos Soler, Nordi Mukiele, and Renato Sanches. Additionally, Gianluigi Donnarumma's future remains uncertain amid the expected arrival of Lucas Chevalier from Lille.
Donnarumma, who helped PSG secure their maiden Champions League triumph last season, could leave after contract extension talks stalled. The Italian international's deal is due to expire next summer.
Donnarumma has attracted interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and several clubs in Saudi Arabia, though he is reportedly open to remaining in Paris and competing for his position.
Arguably the most other high-profile case is Kolo Muani, the French forward who signed with PSG for €90 million in 2023. Despite impressing during his loan stint with Juventus, the 26-year-old still remains surplus to requirements in coach Luis Enrique's tactical approach.
Luis Campos continues to implement a transfer strategy centred on young, high-potential players. This recruitment model has already produced great results, with the likes of Joao Neves, Willian Pacho and Desire Doue helping PSG to win the Champions League for the first time last season.
In terms of incomings, the situation of Real Madrid winger Rodrygo is being monitored. Should Rodrygo become available, the Portuguese sporting director has been connected with possible interest for the player.
Recent news, however, implies that PSG will only go after Rodrygo if Bradley Barcola were to depart. That exit seems improbable despite rumoured interest from Liverpool. PSG have plans to offer Barcola a significant contract extension.
The extensive departures serve multiple purposes for PSG: reducing the wage bill, streamlining the squad for Luis Enrique's tactical preferences, and creating financial flexibility for future acquisitions. Players like Soler, who joined for €18 million in 2022, represent potential profit opportunities if sold for their current market valuations.
As the new season is approaching, PSG returns to European competition's spotlight on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, when they face Tottenham Hotspur at the Stadio Friuli in Udine, Italy, in the UEFA Super Cup. The match, kicking off at 8pm BST, represents a historic milestone for both clubs as neither have ever won this prestigious trophy.

Inter focus on Akliouche as possible Lookman alternative
With Atalanta still holding out on Ademola Lookman, L'Equipe report that Inter have asked after AS Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche. The Nerazzurri still see the Nigeria international as their first choice for the role, but the refusal of Atalanta to consider the €45m offer has prompted them to at least think about some alternatives. Akliouche an expensive option for Inter BOLOGNA, ITALY – NOVEMBER 05: Maghnes Akliouche of AS Monaco competes for the ball with (L-R) Juan Miranda and Remo Freuler of Bologna during the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Phase MD4 match between Bologna FC 1909 and AS Monaco at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara on November 05, 2024 in Bologna, Italy. (Photo by) According to French site L'Equipe, one of their targets is Akliouche, a 23-year-old who has six senior caps for France and was part of their Olympic team. He had already been linked with Inter last year. A product of the Monaco youth academy, he progressed to the senior squad and last season contributed an impressive seven goals with 12 assists in 43 competitive appearances. However, if Lookman is considered expensive at €50m, then that is nothing compared to the reported €70m that Monaco wants for Akliouche. His contract with the club runs to June 2028 and he has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Liverpool.

Raskin affected by 'uncertainty' over Rangers future
Rangers midfielder Nico Raskin has been impacted by "uncertainty" over his future at the club, according to head coach Russell Martin. The Belgium international has been linked with big money moves away from Ibrox and Martin concedes that contact from external parties has had an effect. "There's been a bit of uncertainty about him this summer, for sure," Martin said before Tuesday's second leg of the Champions League third qualifying round tie at Viktoria Plzen. "Not from people ringing us, but I think from people ringing him, definitely. "I think that's affected his approach, not in terms of professionalism and stuff, but he's a young man, of course it's going to have an impact at some point." Rangers 'can't ease off' despite three-goal lead - Martin 'No quick fix' as Martin faces familiar Rangers problems Martin 'won't lose sleep' over Rangers team leak Raskin started the first three games of Rangers' season, but was left out of the starting XI for the first leg of the tie against Viktoria Plzen, which Martin's side won 3-0 at Ibrox. The 24-year-old was again benched for Saturday's Premiership match against Dundee, but impressed as a substitute in the 1-1 draw. Martin expressed his delight at how Raskin has responded to being dropped. "He came out of the team for reasons that me and him spoke about, and his reaction has been top, like really, really brilliant," he said. "He's a really fantastic player, and he's a young man that I'm getting to know all the time, and actually I really like his character and personality. "It's my job to make sure, playing for this football club, whoever you are, the demands are really clear, in whatever position you play." 'Hopefully we can get to end of window' When asked if he expects Raskin to stay at Rangers beyond this summer, Martin said it would take a "mind-blowing" offer for the Ibrox club to consider selling one of last season's standout performers. "I don't think we're in a position where we have to sell anyone," Martin said. "I don't think we're in a position where we want to lose some of the best performers last season, that we think can become really top performers for us moving forward. "Unless someone comes in and blows our minds and everyone decides, the player, the club, that it's the best for everyone - and then we can make sure we're in a position to replace them with someone else. "It's the same for any club in world football now. I don't think there is a club that's immune to that really. "Hopefully, we can get to the end of the window. He's played brilliantly. The window shuts, he's still here, and then we can keep improving and keep kicking on." Report – Inter Milan Put Off By €70M Price Tag For Monaco Star
Inter Milan are reportedly put off by the €70 million price tag from Monaco to sign forward player Maghnes Akliouche. This according to French outlet L'Equipe, via FCInterNews. Right now, Inter Milan are still all-in on signing Ademola Lookman. However, the Nerazzurri are accepting the possibility that their pursuit of the Nigerian could fail. Inter see Lookman as a perfect opportunity to bolster their attack with a proven commodity from within Serie A. However, they will not break the bank to sign the 27-year-old. And if Inter cannot sign Lookman for what they consider a reasonable fee, they will sign a different attacker. The 23-year-old certainly impressed in a recent friendly match against Inter. He scored the opening goal within a minute. Therefore, it was not necessarily a surprise to see the Nerazzurri approach Monaco with an interest in signing Akliouche. According to L'Equipe, however, the price tag proved to be prohibitive. Monaco want a fee of €70 million for Akliouche. And that is more than Inter are able to spend.
