Alabama reportedly offers top 2027 in-state quarterback prospect

USA Today21-06-2025
This past week, the Alabama Crimson Tide officially extended an offer to one of the top in-state quarterbacks in Alabama's 2027 class, Trent Seaborn.
Seaborn announced the offer from Alabama via a post on social media.
A name that has grown more-and-more across Alabama high school football in recent years, Seaborn has been a starter at quarterback for one of the state's top programs, Thompson High School, since his eighth grade season back in 2022. Since, Seaborn has helped lead Thompson to two Class 7A state championships in 2022 and 2024, which is Alabama's highest classification.
According to the 247Sports Composite recruiting rankings, Seaborn is currently considered as the nation's No. 215 overall player in the 2027 class, as well as the No. 16 quarterback nationally. Seaborn, a four-star prospect, is also considered as the No. 9 prospect in the state of Alabama.

Alabama's Jam Miller expected to miss season opener vs. FSU with upper-body injury

Alabama starting tailback Jam Miller is out indefinitely after suffering an upper-body injury in Saturday's scrimmage. Miller's exact injury was not specified by Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer, who said in a statement Sunday that Miller had a 'procedure' the night before. 'Jam should recover fully with a timetable for his return yet to be determined,' DeBoer said. Advertisement Miller, a senior, was preseason third-team All-SEC after being Alabama's second-leading rusher last season with 668 yards and seven touchdowns. Then-quarterback Jalen Milroe was Alabama's leading rusher. At minimum, Miller appears out for No. 8 Alabama's season opener at unranked Florida State. But he could be facing an extended absence, putting his availability in peril for the Sept. 13 home game against unranked Wisconsin and the Sept. 27 trip to No. 5 Georgia. Miller could be a big loss for the Crimson Tide for however long he's out. He split time last season with Justice Haynes, who then transferred to Michigan, so Miller was expected to have a much bigger role. (He also had 16 catches for 155 yards last year.) Otherwise, Alabama doesn't have a lot of SEC experience in the backfield. But there is potential in redshirt sophomore Richard Young, a 2023 top-100 prospect, who suffered a leg injury in Week 3 last year that caused him to miss the next four games. When he returned, Young didn't have a big role, finishing with 146 yards. Sophomore Daniel Hill (61 rushing yards) generated some optimism this spring, and Dre Washington, a transfer from Louisiana, rushed for 1,343 yards over the past three seasons in the Sun Belt. Alabama looks to bounce back from going 9-4 last season under first-year coach DeBoer. Spot the pattern. Connect the terms Find the hidden link between sports terms Play today's puzzle

Kalen DeBoer updates status of two injured Alabama starting linemen

According to head coach Kalen DeBoer, a pair of starting Alabama Crimson Tide linemen have missed the program's second consecutive scrimmage of fall camp. Those players are offensive guard Jaeden Roberts and defensive tackle James Smith, both of which are dealing with injuries leading up to Alabama's season opener at Florida State on Saturday, Aug. 30, according to DeBoer. DeBoer also recently gave an update on the status of both following the Crimson Tide's scrimmage Saturday, saying of the duo: "Two guys that didn't scrimmage today, Jaeden and James, same as last week," DeBoer said. "James has been working through and building up. Feel good about the progress he's had in the week of practice and with it being live. Needed to hold back there, but he's getting closer by the day." "Jaeden has a concussion, just to tell you what it is, and he's going through the protocol of that and hasn't done anything from a team standpoint. Starting to work back into that protocol, which included being out there today, but not to participate in the scrimmage." A storyline to monitor leading up to Week 1, if Roberts is unavailable for the season opener, then Geno VanDeMark would likely step into the starting role at right guard. If Smith is unavailable, then names such as Jeremiah Beaman and Edric Hill could see increased snaps at defensive tackle. Alabama will open the 2025 season Saturday, Aug. 30 on the road at Florida State.
