KISS fans have expressed their disappointment over the 'awful' and 'ridiculous' casting of Nick Jonas as frontman Paul Stanley in an upcoming biopic.
The Jonas Brothers singer, 32, is reportedly set to star as the legendary musician, 73, in Shout It Out Loud, a biopic charting the 70s band's rise to fame.
KISS – made up of Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss – formed in 1973 and went on to become one of the most influential and biggest-selling rock bands of all time.
The film will be directed by McG, famed for his work on Charlie's Angels and Transformers.
But fans aren't happy Jonas will be playing the Starchild, taking to social media to air their frustrations and vow to 'never see the film.'
'This casting just assures I will never watch this,' one person commented on a Reddit post about the casting news, while another simply added, 'Oh f**k no' and a third wrote, 'Absolutely not, that's awful.'

Others noted the band had enjoyed its fair share of controversy over the years. Several of its members openly admitted they had taken advantage of their star status to sleep with up to 5,000 women, while the band also caught flak for marketing a KISS-themed coffin.
'Absoultely (sic) ridiculous casting,' a commenter declared. 'But then we are talking about the band who replaced their lead guitarist with a roadie.'
Elsewhere, commenters complained that too many music biopics had been released lately, with movies about the lives of Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Bob Marley, and Amy Winehouse all released in the last two years.
'I'm sure a lot of people must love them, but I cannot describe how happy I would be if they just stopped making most musician biopics,' one wrote.
Other fans were more supportive, with Iamacannibal commenting: 'Nick is actually a really good actor. He was in a show called Kingdom a while back that is fantastic and he was great in it.'
'Oh I can totally see why they picked him he will really pull it off!' Rap_A_Toni93 posted, with other users drawing similarities between Jonas and Stanley's appearances.

The Hollywood Reporter reports Jonas is in 'final talks' to take on the role of Stanley, while movie bosses are still looking for an actor to play the singer's bassist bandmate Simmons.
The group is helping to develop the project while Stanley and Simmons are among the producers, along with McG.
Deadline reports Jonas plans to take on singing duties in the film and needs time to train his voice to be able to emulate Stanley's signature vocals.
Longtime KISS manager Doc McGhee previously revealed the movie would focus on the band's first four years together after forming in the 1970s.
Speaking to Talking Metal in 2021, he explained: '[The script is] completely done … And the script is about the first four years of KISS. Basically, it's before they were famous – it was up to Cadillac High [KISS' famous gig in a high school gym in Cadillac, Michigan in 1975] , that kind of thing.
'And I think it's a very interesting look at the formation of KISS, the mindset of how that came about, the social pressure that everybody was in in the '60s and '70s that brought something like Kiss to the forefront, that it could actually happen.

'So it's a very interesting, and I think it's a well-written movie.'
Stanley has also previously spoken about the movie, telling broadcaster Kylie Olsson in 2021: '[The movie is] definitely happening. And that's gonna be really interesting. The script was really good. And we really waited until we felt comfortable.'
Speaking of actors who could play him in the film, he added: 'I will tell you this: for casting to be accurate in terms of age, we are looking at actors in their early 20s.
'Honestly, I don't know a whole lot of actors in their early 20s. When people get asked these kinds of questions, they'll say, 'Oh, Brad Pitt,' or this one or that one.'
He went on to say that he will be 'there and watching' as the casting process continues, so if that remains true, surely Jonas has the stamp of approval from the man himself.
'But as the casting process goes on, I'll certainly be there and watching. It'll be interesting to see how someone else- be it the casting people or the director – how they view who I am and who they see doing that.
'I think I'll learn a lot about their perception of me by who they cast.'
The biopic was originally slated for a 2024 release date on Netflix, but so far, a revised release date has not been announced.

Miley Cyrus makes very rare comments about ex Nick Jonas as she shares if they are friends these days

Miley Cyrus revealed where she currently stands with her ex-boyfriend, Nick Jonas, after they dated as teenagers. The Flowers singer, 32, reminisced on the time she briefly dated the Jonas Brothers member, also 32, when they were both Disney stars and opened up about their current relationship. During an appearance on the Every Single Album podcast, Cyrus said that there's no bad blood between them despite their bad breakup, which she went on to describe in detail. 'I like Nick,' she said during Thursday's podcast episode. 'I'm into him.' She also gushed about his marriage to Priyanka Chopra and the couple's three-year-old daughter Malti. Her confession comes just shortly after she seemingly shaded her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth with a snarky, sly move. 'He's married with children. We're all moving on. Everything is good in the world,' she said on the podcast. Then, she jokingly added, 'Niley for life,' as she referenced their past couple name. Nearly two decades ago, Cyrus and Jonas dated from 2006 to 2007 before briefly reconnecting in 2009. The Hannah Montana alum's songs, 7 Things and Before the Storm, are rumored to be about her relationship with him. During her podcast appearance, she opened up about their breakup after they dated on-and-off nearly two decades ago. She admitted that their first split left her 'distraught' and 'sobbing' before explaining why they mutually decided to break up. She said that 'part of the reason we broke up' was because he was going on tour with his band instead of opening for her. 'He was, like, separating himself from the Disney thing, and I wanted him to take me on the tour,' she recalled. 'Like, "Why don't we do it together? I don't understand why you're leaving me."' Cyrus went on to date actor Liam Hemsworth, whom she married in 2018 but divorced after two years; pictured May 2019 in New York City She mentioned how she touched on their past relationship in her 2009 autobiography, Miles To Go, where she referred to Jonas as 'Prince Charming.' She said she wrote about him more positively in the book than she felt at the time when she was heartbroken. Reflecting on her writing that book, she added: 'I probably was like ... "Nick Jonas dumped me. He's a d**k. But they were like, "We can say he's not a very nice boy." But I was probably like, "He's an a**hole.' Then, she joked about how he is 'still catching strays' after so long since their breakup back then. Following their split, Cyrus went on to date country singer Justin Gaston and later actor Liam Hemsworth, whom she married in 2018 but divorced after two years. Since their divorce, Cyrus has been linked to reality star Kaitlynn Carter, singer Cody Simpson and her current boyfriend of four years, Maxx Morando. As for Jonas, he had many A-list romances over the years but went on to marry Chopra in December 2018. The couple welcomed their daughter via surrogate in 2021.

Arlene Phillips shares reaction to Strictly fans who mistake her for much younger judge

Arlene Phillips shares reaction to Strictly fans who mistake her for much younger judge Dame Arlene Phillips says fans are always mixing her up with her friend on Strictly Come Dancing, who is 18 years her junior, years on from her controversial axe from the BBC show Arlene Phillip said she's often having to clarify who she is to fans (Image: undefined via Getty Images ) Dame Arlene Phillips is arguably the first choreographer to become a household name in Britain. Her dance ensemble, Hot Gossip, set the 1980s alight and sparked a lingerie-as-outerwear fashion trend, echoed by stars such as Sabrina Carpenter today. While those days may be behind her, Dame Arlene still remains as one of the dance industry's most well-known faces. In a recent chat, the former Strictly Come Dancing judge said fans often mistake her for the programme's current head judge, Shirley Ballas, 64. She shared: "People come running up shouting, 'Shirley! Shirley!' and I have to say, 'No, I'm the other one!'". ‌ Despite the mix-up, at 82, Arlene may find solace in being compared to someone nearly two decades her junior. ‌ Fans sometimes mistake Arlien for her pal Shirley Ballas [L] (Image: undefined via Getty Images ) Arlene endured a highly publicised departure from the Strictly Come Dancing jury in her sixties, which ignited heated debates over sexism and ageism within the media. The contentious casting change led over 2,000 viewers to lodge complaints with the BBC, and even drew political ire as Deputy Labour Leader Harriet Harman lambasted the BBC's choice as "absolutely shocking." Article continues below Throughout the uproar, Arlene chose to concentrate on her own pursuits: "I wrapped myself in my world and got on with life," she told The i newspaper. Arlene made a name for herself with dance troupe Hot Gossip (Image: undefined via Getty Images ) Many still approach her to opine that she shouldn't have been dismissed from the series after its 2008 season. ‌ Reflecting on her reaction to being replaced by Alesha Dixon, Arlene expressed initial anger but pointed out her swift rebound. "I gave myself 48 hours to kick, scream, cry and sob, and eat scones with cream and jam, then I made myself wake up and get on with it," she added. "I loved being on Strictly. It's very dear to my heart that I was there right from the start." ‌ Arlene continued, highlighting her resilience: "I'm a grown up so when life comes along and it doesn't go the way you want, you just get on with it." Bruno Tonioli, Arlene Phillips, Len Goodman and Craig Revel Horwood on Strictly (Image: BBC ) Meanwhile, a previous female colleague at the BBC conveyed to The Mirror their concerns about ageism, stating: "There seems to be a system that gives women no chance on air unless they are below a certain age." Article continues below They further lamented: "Arlene may have a job on The One Show, but she is being pushed out of Strictly even though she was an excellent judge with great knowledge on dancing. There is no really good reason for it." At the time, the BBC denied that ageism played any role in Arlene being replaced. In defence of the decision to bring in former Strictly champion Alesha as Arlene's replacement, BBC One controller Jay Hunt asserted: "Yes, a lot of people were upset about Arlene but the flip side is, in Alesha, we have a young, black, woman presenter, at the heart of the Saturday night BBC One schedule."

EXCLUSIVE All the grifting stars exploiting fans for more cash... and the worst offender is worth $400 million

Gene Simmons sparked worldwide backlash last month when he proudly announced - and later defended - his decision to charge a fan $12,495 to be his PA for the day. The KISS icon - who is worth an estimated $400million - was swiftly called out for his 'greedy' antics after it emerged he was charging the hefty sum - but he's far from the only famous face padding their net worth via fan encounters.
