McGlynn hails battle-ready Falkirk squad after draw with Dundee United
The Bairns won back-to-back promotions under their experienced boss and the fans watched the Championship flag being unfurled before the game, marking their return to the top flight after a 15-year absence.
On-loan Barnsley forward Max Watters scored his first United goal in the 39th minute with a terrific volley, but midfielder Dylan Tait levelled in the 50th minute with a fine finish.
Ivan Dolcek restored the Tannadice side's lead in the 71st minute with his first goal for the club before home defender Ethan Ross equalised with a deflected strike two minutes later for a deserved share of the spoils.
McGlynn said: 'I don't think we've got our eyes closed. We know that the margins are finer in this league.
'We'll all look to learn from that and we will need to learn from that. But there's so many positives to take.
'A lot of these players have played in League One, they've stepped up to the Championship dealt with that, and today, I think they looked like Premiership players against Premiership players.
'We were 15 years out of it, the same group of players almost, stepping up to the challenge, 5700 season tickets.
'Dundee United filled their allocation as well. So great atmosphere.
'People want to come and be entertained. That was entertainment. That was definitely entertainment.'
United boss Jim Goodwin was proud of his under-strength side's efforts in gaining a point after they had advanced to the Conference League third qualifying round against Rapid Wien with a 2-0 aggregate win over Luxembourg side UNA Strassen on Thursday night.
He said: 'It's really strange to be sitting here on the opening day of the season and talking about the number of injuries we have.
'But there's no getting away from it. There's no excuses here.
'We're missing some real key players. Our captain and vice-captain, Ross Graham and Will Ferry. Ferry was a suspension.
'Ryan Strain, Amar Fatah and Kristijan Trapanovski were all missing and they can be great options for us off the bench or starting the game.
'A draw away from home, more often than not in this league, is not a bad result.
'On the back of us playing in Europe on Thursday, with the short turnaround and the lack of recovery time, I think we've got to be satisfied with a point.
'It was only a couple of years ago we were travelling to Arbroath to kick off the Championship season.
'In the space of two years, we're slightly disappointed to pick up a point on the opening day of the Premiership but looking forward to a game in Europe against Rapid Wien.
'When you put things in perspective, we've come a long way in a short period of time.'
Ferry will be back from suspension for the midweek trip to Austria and Goodwin hopes some others will be available, although Trapanovski will see a specialist about his hamstring problem on Monday.

Man Utd told to sign £10m Newcastle star in summer transfer window
Ben Foster has urged his former club Manchester United to sign Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope in the summer transfer window. Foster feels the Red Devils are 'absolutely crying out for a goalkeeper' before the 2025-26 Premier League season gets underway in 10 days. United's No.1 goalkeeper Andre Onana picked up a hamstring injury last month and has not played in any of the club's friendlies over the summer. Onana is hoping to return for the start of the season – but even when he's been fit – he's faced widespread criticism for his performances and errors. United have been linked to a number of goalkeepers this summer and saw a loan bid rejected for Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – click here and sign up before Friday to make sure you don't miss the first edition. The Red Devils have also reportedly been interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain superstar Gianluigi Donnarumma. Foster, though, has urged United to take a look at Newcastle star Pope in the summer window, which remains open until September 1. Newcastle paid £10m to sign Pope from Burnley in 2022 – and Football Insider claim it would take £10-£15m to recruit him from the Magpies. The 33-year-old has been capped 10 times by England to date and faces competition from new signing Aaron Ramsdale at Newcastle this season. 'Manchester United are crying out for a goalkeeper, absolutely crying out for a goalkeeper,' Foster said on his YouTube channel. 'Honestly, you'd do so much worse than getting Nick Pope. Man United don't necessarily just go all-out play straight from the back, that's not their style anyway. 'I think Nick Pope can still play out from the back, by the way. I'm not demeaning him, he can still play out from the back. 'But if you're looking to get it to the forward areas as quickly as possible, Nick Pope is your boy. And he will stop goals, it's as simple as that. More Trending 'Onana's had this big injury at the start of pre-season, he's looking like he'll only get back fit maybe just for the start of the season. 'But you don't want that from your goalkeeper, you want him to have had four, five pre-season games under his best, weeks and weeks of training, get that into the legs. 'And there was also a lot of questions raised at the end of last season thinking he will probably not be the first-choice goalkeeper.' Pope has played a total of 95 games for Newcastle to date across all competitions and has plenty of Premier League experience. Alexander Isak's dream Liverpool transfer in limbo as Man Utd plan Benjamin Sesko swap deal
Manchester United matched Newcastle's £74m bid for RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko - and Rasmus Hojlund could head the other way in bad news for Alexander Isak and Liverpool Alexander Isak was in limbo on Tuesday night - with the wantaway Newcastle striker fearing that Benjamin Sesko could scupper his dream move to Liverpool. With Manchester United matching the Magpies' £74m bid for RB Leipzig hitman Sesko, the Slovenian now has to decide which club he will join But if he chooses United ahead of Newcastle, then Isak could find himself in no-man's land with the new season just 10 days away. And that scenario is looking increasingly likely with the Bundesliga side keen on taking United misfit Rasmus Hojlund in the deal. Toon officials have made it clear to the Swede that they will only sell him if Liverpool match their valuation AND they have a replacement lined up. Liverpool have so far lodged an initial bid of £110m plus add-ons, well short of the Toon's valuation. And they won't be back in until Newcastle have brought in a replacement for their prize asset. For their part, Newcastle want the situation resolved as quickly as possible. They had hoped that United's delay in bidding for Sesko would leave them firmly in the driving seat but now both clubs had made similar offers to Leipzig leaving the final decision firmly in Sesko's court. The player trained indoors away from his team-mates, with his departure imminent. Various sources in Germany claim he favours a move to Old Trafford despite a lack of European football next season. Newcastle, however, won't give up knowing they can't fail to land yet another of their top transfer targets having already missed out on Bryan Mbeumo, Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and Dean Huijsen. And while no-one inside the club will admit it, they would rather have Sesko leading their attack than a disgruntled Isak, who would rather be wearing the red shirt of Liverpool. The Magpies remain confident of signing forward Yoane Wissa despite their two offers so far falling well short of the price tag Brentford have slapped on him. And they have stepped up their bid to land AC Milan's 23-year-old centre half Malick Thiaw.
