An action plan on anvil to transform Gajuwaka segment
On Sunday, he, along with Gajuwaka MLA and state TDP president Palla Srinivasa Rao, ward corporators Boddu Narasimha Patrudu, Rajana Ramarao, Lella Koteshwar Rao, and TDP deputy floor leader Gandham Srinivasa Rao, laid foundation stones for several development works under zone VI, covering 65, 71, and 86 wards.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that continuous efforts are being made for the development of Gajuwaka. He reiterated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the coalition government is consistently implementing various development and welfare programmes that aim at the holistic growth of the state.
He informed that works worth approximately Rs 5.55 crore have been initiated under GVMC funds for construction of VRCC drains, retaining walls, and drinking water pipelines at multiple locations such as Priyadarshini Colony, Visakha Nagar Sanjeevayya Giri Colony, and Ashok Nagar.
Similarly, in ward 71, drinking water pipelines were being laid at a cost of about Rs 49.6 lakh. In ward 86, foundation stones were laid for CC roads, RCC drains, CC culverts, and VRCC box culverts at various locations at an estimated cost of Rs 1.54 crore.
The Gajuwaka MLA said that efforts are being made to ensure that Gajuwaka constituency stands first in the state in terms of development. He mentioned that a special action plan is being executed to systematically develop every ward in Gajuwaka. He added that the Chief Minister is continuously working with the sole objective of state development.
The programme was attended by GVMC VI zonal commissioner BRS Seshadri, executive engineer MRS Prasad, assistant engineer Kedar Nath, among others.

Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu has launched a political attack on the Punjab government and local MLA Kulwant Singh, holding them responsible for the dire financial crisis facing the corporation. Despite the worsening economic condition of the civic body, Sidhu alleged that funds due to the Municipal Corporation from various government departments are being deliberately withheld. 'Over Rs 50 crore is pending from GMADA and PSPCL, and another Rs 7 crore in property tax arrears is stuck with different departments,' the mayor told The Indian Express. The mayor stated, 'We are struggling to even pay salaries to employees at times. Tenders for development projects get delayed, and payments for completed works are stuck.' Recalling better days, Sidhu noted, 'When Mohali was a council, it was classified as A-grade, whereas Kharar and Zirakpur were B and C-grade, respectively. But now, despite Mohali becoming a Municipal Corporation, those councils continue to function independently and are financially healthier.' He said that Kharar currently holds over Rs 400 crore, and Zirakpur has nearly Rs 700 crore in funds, while the Mohali MC is left cash-strapped. 'In Kharar and Zirakpur, property-related services like map approvals, transfers, and NOCs are still handled by their respective councils, which also collect the associated fees. But in Mohali, all these services are handled by GMADA, which sells land worth crores but doesn't even release the corporation's rightful share.' The mayor pointed out that GMADA alone owes the Mohali MC Rs 32 crore. Raising concerns over the deteriorating infrastructure, Sidhu warned, 'Mohali is facing multiple issues, the most critical being stormwater drainage. Solving this will require over Rs 200 crore.' He mentioned that he had written several letters to officials and even the Chief Minister, yet no action has been taken, nor has any special grant been issued for Mohali. 'For development works alone, Mohali needs a grant of at least Rs 500 crore,' he asserted. Sidhu said, 'If urgent steps are not taken to address Mohali's pressing problems, the city's condition will worsen drastically and for that, the Punjab government will be fully responsible.'

"Give Me Euthanasia": RJD MLA Ritlal Yadav Breaks Down In Patna Court
Patna: RJD's strongman and sitting MLA from Danapur, Ritlal Yadav, made a sensational appeal in the Patna Civil Court on Wednesday, seeking euthanasia in front of the judge. Visibly emotional during his court appearance, Ritlal Yadav said, "Huzoor, give me euthanasia (practice of intentionally ending a life to relieve suffering). Case after case is being filed against me. I have no one to fight for me." The plea stunned the courtroom as the MLA appeared from Bhagalpur Central Jail, where he has been lodged since May 1, 2025, after being shifted from Beur Jail in Patna. According to sources, Ritlal Yadav has been kept in a high-security T-cell in Bhagalpur jail - the same cell once occupied by don-turned-politician Anant Singh, who is now in Beur Jail. Ritlal Yadav had surrendered in the Danapur court on April 17 in connection with an alleged extortion case involving a demand of Rs 50 lakh from a builder. Following his surrender, he was lodged in Beur Jail. However, his regular interactions with other incarcerated associates at Beur Jail raised concerns among law enforcement authorities. Citing intelligence inputs, the Patna police feared that Yadav might orchestrate criminal activities from inside the jail. A detailed report was submitted to the Jail Department, based on which the administration decided to shift the MLA to Bhagalpur. During the hearing in the MP-MLA court, Ritlal Yadav pleaded not just for mercy but also for a transfer back to Beur Jail, citing isolation and lack of legal support in Bhagalpur. "I am tired. I have no support system here. Please transfer me back to Beur," he urged the judge. As Ritlal Yadav battles multiple legal cases, a separate controversy is now brewing around his wife, Rinku Kumari, a contractual government school teacher. According to a report submitted by ADG (Operations) Kundan Krishnan to the Education Department, Rinku has been accused of violating service conduct rules by becoming a business partner in Vijay Construction Company while still in government service. Official records show that Rinku Kumari has been posted at the same primary school in Kothwan Mushari, Patna, since July 1, 2006. She allegedly became a partner in the construction firm on November 11, 2017, a clear violation of Rule 16(1) of the Bihar Government Servants Code of Conduct, 1976, which prohibits government employees from engaging in any form of private business.

"This entire process has become a sort of scam. Certain things need to be regulated effectively," another said. "India needs to reform its education policy because the Board exams are easy, and competitive exams are hard, so then comes private coaching, and because of the private coaching, India's education fees and inflation are very high. A large number of people go to private coaching institutes, and private coaching institutes do as they want and increase the fees as per their own wish," a third user commented. Recently, Ashish Singhal, co-founder of CoinSwitch and Lemonn, discussed a similar issue of rising school fees for primary classes as he highlighted a report which stated that the fees are increasing by 10-30% every year, outpacing middle-class income growth. In a LinkedIn post, Mr Singhal claimed that school expenses now consume nearly 19% of household income, and parents are even taking EMIs for kindergarten fees.
